I just joined Sparkpeople this week. I started my weight loss journey with another program & lost 35 pounds. I got sick of paying to lose or maintain weight, so I joined Spark people to reach my goal weight. Weekends are still tough for me so I joined this team.

Hey Everyone,

I know we all have super busy lives but I am in need of some help. I entered a contest and with it comes a chance to win into a biggest loser contest where you get to meet with a nutritionist and a personal trainer twice a week for twelve weeks. This is an opportunity I would otherwise not be able to have as I cant afford it. If you have a minute or know anyone who has a minute can you please vote for me for a chance to win this dream of a life time. The site is http://contests.lfpress.com I believe I am still number 14 my user name is TIGERS30 and my pictue is me at a baseball game.

You can vote once a day per e mail you just need to complete a half page registration thing. Please please please help me out. I am currently in desperate need to get my votes up so I can get in.

Thank you for reading and please spread the word!!

Hello All VENTING I have been using SPARK on and off for about 2 years I lost 90# then stopped and gained back 40# so I am at it again Losing pounds I can do but I have trouble sustaining the necessary lifestyle change I have a big problem with weekend eating and drinking 2 handful's of mixed nuts, 2 handful's of munchies, 2 martini's and 2 glasses of wine then the restaurant food that is very heavy in calories and in 2 days I have consumed 8,000 calories

Hi there...I am a returning member. I use to be pretty good at keeping up with my program but then got busy planning a wedding. I got married in April, quite my job in June, traveled all summer with my son and our new family and now have settled into homeschooling my 12 yr old who is entering into 7th grade. Any number of these events could be the culprit to the 10 lbs I have gained since April LOL, I completed my first mini-sprint triathlon in Raleigh, NC Aug first...happy to say I did not finish last, and now I am training for another one in Oct. in Melbourne. So, long story short LOL I am back to using SparkPeople. The weekends are the hardest for me because we always seem to go out to eat. I hope to find support on some of these groups.

Also, can someone tell me how I can add one of those weight bars I see at the bottom of everyone pages? Thanks.

Hello out there...

I totally struggle with staying on track on the weekends... it always seems like Friday comes and I completely fall apart. Although since Hubby has come on board it has been a little easier but we still relax quite a bit. So I saw this team and thought I would join up and see what happens!

Hi Everyone, I started SP two weeks ago and have been doing fairly well on the weekdays but the weekends are difficult. I'm hoping that I will gain some insight from other team members on how to stay focused on Saturday/Sunday.

Hi I'm Monica, I found/joined Sparkpeople yesterday. I am very excited about the entire experience and know that this group will probably be one of the most useful to me because like many of you weekends are the worst. I do much better with structure and weekends are anything put for me, thus my eating and exercise can easily go in the wrong direction. Good luck to all and have a great weekend!!

you have to kinda watch what and how much you eat over the weekend portion control is the key...it is hard i know but yo have to do 4 yourself...i really liked the meal plans from S.P. they have really helped me and i really stuck by them... substitude something else that is close to the same calories n fat and the nutrtion tracker is a great tool also...
i hope this helped you

Hi! My name is Courtney, and I've been a member of spark since early this year. I haven't seen any weight loss success, and I'd say weekends are probably 75% of my problem. Lately I've been down because knowing how I act on the weekends has started to play into my weekly mindset and I don't know how much of this 2 pound yo yo dance I can do! SOOO I'm glad to be here and hope to find mucho support here! :)

(PS I love new Spark Friends!!)

Hi my name is Stephanie. I'm a teacher so my weeks are super structured therefore it is extremely easy to eat well. However when Friday 4:00 rolls around the structure flys out the window and I don't have my students and classes to keep me occupied. I love my summer breaks, but summer is also hard since the structure of school is not there.

My name is Devin and weekend are VERY hard for me. My boyfriend and I have his kids every other weekend so we go out to eat a lot on Friday and Saturday night, and by out I mean fast, convenient and kid friendly...you can imagine that Low Fat or Heart Healthy do not really make the cut there. So I figured this would be a good place to get support in battling my weekend eating.

I've been working at SP for 6 months now and have finally hit a 10lb weight loss. But I am really struggling with losing more. I know one of my big issues is the weekend - it's easy to stay focused during the week since my days are so scheduled. Weekends are a whole different story - I hang out with the kids, try and relax and end up eating way too much.

So hoping that the ideas and support of this group will help me overcome this and restart my weight loss.

Hi! My name is Christine. During the week I am on a schedule and have no problem tracking my food and exercising. However, during the weekends I generally do not do my exercise. I also often go out to eat! Then I am thrown off when Monday hits and not prepared for the week!

Hi All! My name is Amy. I am a perfectionist during the week when it comes to tracking my meals and fitness; however, I get totally sidetracked on the weekends. I spend the first half of the week making up for the bad weekend to get where I was on Friday. Because of that, I'm not making any progress.

I am always up for suggestions . . .

Hi I'm Jessica - just joined this team today because it seems that weekends are the absolute hardest! I did good the weekend of the 17th, but this past weekend I was surrounded by food & ice cream galore! I'm hoping by joining group I can learn to have some self disipline once the work week is done!

Hi, I'm Lucy and I'm new to this team. We used to be empty nesters, but we now have our 10 year old grandson. It's taking some adjustment, but we adore him. I do great during the week, but weekends kill me! Next weekend we are going to an annual campout on Whidby Island with a group of friends. It's a potluck and I'm already trying to figure out how to navigate this...

New to this team. Have been signed on to SP for some time, but haven't really worked at it. So, given that this team identifies one of my biggest challenges, I've signed on for this. We are empty nesters and work through the week, but go out a lot on the weekend. If we're not out, we travel out of town, so eating is challenging to say the least.

My goals for this weekend when we will be in Chicago visitng friends are:
1--choose wisely--eating on the road on Saturday, eating out Sat night, on the road Sunday
2--drink water--may not be 8 glasses a day (on a car trip??!), but I will make a good effort to get in as muchas possible.

Hi I'm also new to this team. When I saw your team, I knew it was for me. I work hard all week on my exercise and when the weekend comes, nothing. I struggle to get anything done on the weekend. During the week it's go, go, go with work and exercise and the weekend I just want to veg out. However, that's not so good. Because with vegging out, comes eating.

My husband has been working 6 10 hour days, so I don't see him except on Sunday. Saturday, I sit home by myself and on Sunday he wants to go to a movie and you know what that means, popcorn and pop. Love the movies, but the snack.

I'm hoping your team is just the thing I need to stay motivated during the weekend, so I can work toward my goal.

Hi I am new to this team but not new to SP. I struggle terribly on the weekends. I am on target with the food choices and exercise and water Mon-Fri and I blow it all over the weekend. I am super excited that I found this team.

It's Monday morning and I fell off the wagon this past weekend. Scale reflects up 3 lbs. Maybe some water weight but still very depressing. Weekends are my struggle, so here I am.

New to SP and when browsing the teams this caught my eye. The weekends are definitly my problem when it comes to eating. Sometimes its boredom eating, other times we are busy out and about and have lots of dinners out. And while my willpower is getting better than it used to be, I still struggle when I look at a restaurant menu. I know what I SHOULD order, but then see all the yummy but bad stuff and reason to myself that if I am paying money for a dinner out I should get some thing 'good'. (Not the way reason I know, but I am workin on it!)

My struggle with weight and living a healthy life began a long time ago. As a child, I remember doctors pointing to charts and saying that I was on the upper side of the average range for weight, and well below the average range for height. Being just an elementary school kid, I figured that meant my weight was on track and my height was all wrong! But I was a happy kid and if I was overweight, I didn't know it.

When I entered jr. high and high school, I began to notice that I probably had a few extra pounds and I wanted to lose weight in order to look good. At the time, I don't think I cared about my health; I just wanted to get noticed by the boys. During the summer before my sophomore year of high school and on into the first half of that school year, I began my first weight loss plan. Both of my parents were more than 50 lbs overweight at the time and had joined Weight Watchers. As a shy teenager worried about being judged, I didn't want to attend meetings but I borrowed their materials and followed the program on my own and with my parents' (especially my mom's) support. I went from 135 lbs to 118lbs, my goal weight. That winter, my family went on a cruise and I totally neglected my maintenance plan. But I was an active teen and I managed to maintain a weight around 120 lbs until I graduated from high school two and a half years later.

Like many people, I gained weight when I went off to college. There was no physical activity built into my day anymore (it had been required at my high school), and there was unhealthy food everywhere. I often stayed up all night snacking and working on assignments or went out for extra late-night meals with friends. My focus wasn't on my health at all, just having fun and doing well in school. I went back up to 135 lbs pretty quickly, but luckily did not go beyond that.

Later on, after transferring schools and majors, I joined a martial arts club that reintroduced physical activity into my life. It changed everything. I lost some weight and met my future fiance. I then went to study abroad, during which time it was easy for me to stay active and eat somewhat well. This I attribute to the entirely different culture around food and activity. After returning to the states and reuniting with my boyfriend, life was good. I even started up my self-directed Weight Watchers plan again and got back to 120 lbs.

But then I graduated from college. I looked for work for months. All I found were temporary positions, or part-time minimum-wage jobs with no benefits. As my job search stretched on and on, I got discouraged and began to let my eating get out of control. My anxiety about my future and sense of hopelessness certainly contributed to my three-year-long binge in which I gained 30 lbs. I was lucky it wasn’t worse than that. I kept up my martial arts training the whole time, and even added a couple days each week in addition to that at the gym.

Knowing I couldn't let my life continue in that manner, I applied to grad school and began a program to study leisure. I was excited about my program and enthusiastic to find answers for myself and perhaps to help others like me use leisure to get active and healthy. During that first semester, I kept planning to start up a weight-loss plan and kept putting it off, busying myself with school work and making excuses.

When school let out for summer, I decided to buckle down. My program didn't have any money for me to have an assistantship over the summer. It didn't even offer summer classes. So my summer was wide open. I dug out those same old Weight Watchers materials, and began in earnest at the end of June 2010. I've slipped up a few times (the 4th of July festivities and a camping trip got me off track), but I keep thinking that as long as I keep trying and keep getting back on track after slipping up, I will eventually lose weight and be healthier.

So that's my story, and it has now brought me here. I hope both to be inspired and to offer inspiration. We're all in this together, really. Two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese. It seems silly to be out there trying to lose weight and feeling alone. We aren't!

Hi, I'm Katie. Been on Spark for about 3 months - and the weekends are the worse time for me!! I don't have a computer at home so it's hard for me to get on Spark and track track track which makes me fall of track. Looking forward to the weekend challenges and hoping they will help me stay where I want to be!

Hi I am a returning spark person. Last time, I did okay with SP just by monitoring my food intake and fitness. This time I think I need a little more motivation so I am joining a couple of teams and doing some challenges that are my weaknesses. For instance, I have so much trouble with weekends. It is a time when my hubby and I go shopping and eat out. It is also a time for staying up late and drinking a few beers. So I hope I can make a few positive changes.

Hi, I'm new to the group but not so new to Sparkpeople. Still trying to find the success I am looking for and I have identified the weekends are a problem so here I am!

Hi,
I'm Michelle, new to Sparkpeople and new to this group. Looks like I'm in good company here! I do ok during the week when hubby and I stick to our regular daily routine but struggle not to sabotage my progress from the week on Hubby's days off!

Hi! I'm Rae and I've been sparking since May. Weekends are a true challenge for me as well. I find I do better if I don't go out because I am more in control of the food choices. I do allow myself to occasionally indulge as long as I get right back to sparking the next day. I have to admit I am doing better and hopefully this team will give me some tips to be even more successful.

Hello!
Like many of you I work during the week so I find it rather easy to stay on track, but once the weekend rolls in my brain kicks into a free for all. About 98% of my bingeing takes palce on the weekend. Hopefully this group will be exactly what I need, because I defentally need a survival plan.

Hi! I'm new to this group and new to following the SparkPeople program, although I've been a member forever. I do ok on weekends when I'm at home, but if I so much as go to my Mom's - forget it. Family parties, dinners out, anything off my own turf, and I have such a hard time staying on track.

Hoping to gain some strategies to stay on track on the weekends and keep my upward spiral going!

Hi All,

I'm Joan just joined SP. Weekends are the worst for me,I work full time and manage pretty well all week. Then when the weekend comes along and it all goes down hill, sometimes I don't even know I am doing it, I will pick all day long, sweet things , salty things, fattening/diet. You name it I'll eat it.
Got to stop now. Help.

Hey. I'm Jennifer and I've been using SparkPeople for about two weeks. I'm glad I found this group because I'm great during the week but feel as if I screw everything up during the weekend.

Your challenge sounds like a great idea. I'm not very savvy on checking some of these boards but I'm going to follow your challenge and definitely join in! Sounds terrific.

And good for you for doing it anyway! Congratulations!

Hi! I'm new(ly returning to Sparkpeople) and wanted to get more active by joining some Spark teams. And weekends are definitely my weakest time!! During the week, I'm diligent about packing my lunch, eating well balanced meals.....but the weekend comes around and I totally sabotage myself and my progress. I blame the BBQ's, the birthday cakes, the eating out.....but I should be blaming myself!! So, I thought you guys could help keep me motivated!

HI everybody!

I just joined SP about a week ago and love it already.

Like many of you, I was always healthy and active and sort of lost my way (I blame my husband who is a wonderful cook). I miss the old me and want to get back to healthy eating and plenty of movement.

Anyway - I live in Alexandria, Virginia with my husband and our two cats.

Looking forward to meeting everyone - and staying away from too much food on the weekends! Pizza is my big downfall!

Hello!

My name is Sara. I rejoined SparkPeople this past May. I am trying to follow the Jenny Craig plan. I have the most trouble staying on track over the weekend and the evenings during the week. My week days are quite structured because I work full-time but I seem to think I can eat anything I want all evening and weekend long!! HELP! I would really appreciate any suggestions and challenges to focus on during these more challenging times for me!! Thanks! I look forward to "meeting" other members of this team!

Hi everyone :)

I'm Barbara and I've been working at this for just over three months now. One of the biggest issues I've had is getting through the weekends.

Last Friday I decided enough was enough... and I went to the general message boards and issued a challenge Here's the link: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageb
oa
rd.asp#Anchor19999684

Nobody responded. But I went ahead and did the challenge anyway...

Today I feel FANTASTIC. I met the challenge. All the plans I made on Friday really helped me to get through the rest of the weekend.

This coming weekend I'm going to post the same challenge again (I'll probably post it Wednesday evening), I have a few people interested now... hopefully you'll join us...

~ ~ Barbara ~ ~

Start date: March 4, 2010 @ 232 pounds

AFFIRMATIONS:
I live a healthy lifestyle ~ I have 4 beautiful children that I will (God willing) see grow up ~ My relationships are awesome ~ I have an amazing amount of energy ~ I feel healthy ~ I feel good about myself ~ I look better than I have in years and I get better looking each day ~ I have self-confidence ~ I am a success ~ I respect myself.

Hello all,

I'm new-ish. I joined a few months ago and then promptly disappeared, but now I'm back to recommit. I have 173 lbs to lose as of yesterday morning's weigh-in. I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get to meet this goal.

As far as my joining this team, I can't say that I struggle on the weekends. It's more like I lose my freakin' mind on the weekends. Absolutely no attempt to control myself. So yeah, that's something I'd like to work on. :)

Anyway, just wanted to do my intro and say good luck to all!

-Lee

Hi everyone. My name is Peggy. I also struggle with weekends. I hate it when I gain over the two days and then have to spend all week just trying to lose that weight. I am trying to stay more focused and I hope I can find suggestions on how others cope. I have lost 25 pounds so far and want to lose more. I am now on summer break. OUCH!! Someone got any ideas?

Hi, my name is Donna and I'm a salt-aholic...weekends seem to be teaming with salt laden foods that I can't seem to resist and water? What water...I'm lucky if I get 4 oz in and that's for the whole weekend! Yes, I need your support to pull me through the salt mine that is my weekends.
