Jenmc, I think they calculate the time based on doing the maximum reps with correct form. When doing these exercise with the correct form it takes more time than if we are just, for argument sake, allowing momentum to do the "work". Sometimes it takes awhile for us to get the correct form but the more you practice the movement the better you get at it. I know that this may seem contrary because its natural to think that you are getting better at doing this so you should be able to do it quicker but thats not the case in many instances. Anyways, going by what you said. you did the max reps for 2 of the exercises, the min reps for two and the time on one plus you said this is your first time doing the exercise so I am going to assume that you were probably not using the correct (this is natural) so given all of that will explain why you were finish before the allotted time. Sometimes the opposite happens too. The important thing is to just use the timing as a guide and keep practicing the form. Don't give up. You can do it.

So, I did my first SparkPeople Strength Workout yesterday. I enjoyed it, and it challenged me. I did the sets it told me to along with the maximum reps for 2 of the exercises, the mionimum reps for two, and the time on one. It said it was a 30 minutes workout, but I'm pretty sure it took me significantly less time that 30 minutes. I'm thinking somewhere around 15-20 minutes, and that included looking at the computer to see what the next exercise was. Since it did not take me 30 minutes (which I think it "gave me credit" for) am I doing it wrong?

I am 5'4".
Starting Weight (4.6.11) 164.6
First Goal 130 - Reached September 2011
Lowest weight: 116
Gained back 40 or so pounds and now getting back to it.
