I've lost about 11 of the 30 lbs. I had a bit of a stumble with my daughter's birthday party and it set me back a little, but I'm back at it with a vengeance this time!

Woo Hoo! Scale is finally starting to move in the right direction. Quitting smoking set me back about 9 lbs, but that's gone now. I've lost about 10lbs of the 30 for the challenge.

Thanks JackieMal473! emoticon

I love York peppermint patties and I always snatch me one when Dear Hubby and I go to one of his BBQ places, though that isn't often. Thank goodness. emoticon

Once you set your mind to it, it becomes possible. I had to really set my mind to loosing this weight, and yeah I get discouraged. I think we all do, but the thing is to pull yourself up by your boot straps and say, 'You know what? I'm stronger than that.' emoticon Plus if you've ever had surgery and things didn't exactly go smoothly and you never want to face that kind of pain and difficulty in breathing again, emoticon AND then the doctor tells you to loose the weight or you'll have to have weight loss surgery.... it's a REAL motivator. emoticon

Ah, I remember when I lived alone...fond memories, but then again I know what it feels like to be lonely too. AND I always had friends dropping in to hang out or crash at my place because if they went home their parents would have their heads. Usually because they'd been drinking or been with someone their parents didn't approve of. hahaha! One night, my cousin and one of his buddies showed up on my doorstep and when I got up the next morning to go to work, I found that they had eaten all my groceries. After that I quit letting people crash there. emoticon But you know what happened twice after that.. You'll like this...I woke up to go to work and TWICE I found someone crashed on my back deck!
So yeah, live it up!

Good Sparking!

Congrats on putting your foot down Lunatic! I'm just realizing how much easier my situation is than some others. I live alone, make my own food decisions and don't have anyone trying to keep me fat. It may be lonely, but for now maybe it's the best.

It's frustrating that the scale isn't moving. Probably due to me not moving and not paying attention to my food intake. Got sidetracked by buying York peppermint patties from the Halloween display at the grocery store. Course I also bought broccoli so I not a complete loss. :)

I still have hopes of losing the 30 lbs by Halloween.

Good luck all!

emoticon Okay, so I haven't been 'here' a lot. I have had so much drama in my life and work has kept me so, so busy.
I really love this challenge and it has kept me motivated. I want to read more up on all of yall that are participating.
Remember we all have ups and downs, loop de loos and upsy daisies, don't think that just because you didn't reach your planned goal that you have to give up. No, on the contrary, we learn from our mistakes. We don't learn anything if we don't make them.
I've learned a lot on this journey. One is that my dear hubby will try just about anything for me not to loose weight, but now that I have pushed myself and I am starting to like the changes I see in the mirror, he likes them too.

My kids tell me that I am happier, that I don't sleep all the time, that I do things out in the yard more, a lot like I use to do when they were younger. One of the biggest changes that I and others have seen is my complexion has changed. That's what I get the biggest compliments on.
I'm telling ya, hang in there. That those this may be a loose 30 lbs by Halloween challenge, it really is just a motivational challenge.

Look, I'm not going to loose 30 pounds by Halloween. I'm stuck right now, but I haven't had my groceries. Dear Hubby sabotaged that this past month by NOT buying what I needed and filled the pantry with Little Debbie's and took us out to buffets. Well, I put my foot down this pay day and really gave him a once over. Told him that I'd stop helping with the bills and start buying my own groceries if that's what I had to do, so he let me follow my list.
So this week we'll see if I stick to my diet and loose the 2 lbs that I'm scheduled to loose.

Yall, keep on SPARKING! It's worth!

I am getting back on track, starting now.
I am going to start everyday with a motivating song.
I am going to get filled with the Word.
I am going to drink more water so I do NOT drink my calories.
I am going to exercise everyday, even if it just walking up and down the hall during every commercials.
I am going to eat right for me, no matter how much grief I get for it.
I am going to put my health first. If I am not healthy, I can not take care of my husband, my daughters or help the rest of my family that need me.
I really need to quit smoking. I am going to have to get help with this because I have not been successful alone.
I need more friends that will support my efforts, motivate me, and kick me in the ass when needed.

If you had a bad day, do not give up. There is always tomorrow!

emoticon Hello everyone! Sorry I've been a little MIA. Such a hectic life. This week I've only lost 1 lb and let me tell you I had to work for that one pound. emoticon

It was tortuous but I did not gain. YAY! Dear hubby is not liking that I'm actually sticking to this weight loss plan and making progress. I will tell ya I've dropped down 3 pants sizes since starting all this. Though I prefer to only wear 2 sizes down from where I started because, well, I can just breathe better. Now, when I want to go off and see a bunch of my girlfriends I wear the smallest. emoticon booo hahaha! ( And no I don't have to lay down on a bed to button or zip them. I can stand up and do it, And seams are not hiding in places on my body. I just like my clothes a little on the loose side just encase there are zombies, or emoticon chasing me.) emoticon

Well, NoExcuses22, sorry for the gain, but hang in there. You've got the right attitude. We all have slid down the hill more times than any of us can count. (Wish we could get frequent flyer miles on that; we'd all fly for free. LOL)

Gotta run. I'll post again very soon.
Keep Sparking everyone!!!

NO loss for me this week in fact a 2lb gain, kicking myself for not eating better. I traveled for work 3 days this week, so I didn't get the workouts in I wanted and of course I ate out for those 3 days as well, Going to really push myself this week, and see if I cant "catch up"

Welcome all the new folks to this thread, hopefully you will all check in often.

I am getting in on this very late. I have been away from SP. Maybe this will be the final re-do for me. I am committed to losing 2 pounds a week. By Halloween that would be 16-18 pounds.

Ok, I'd like to do this even tho I'm starting late. I think I can do the 30 lbs since you always lose more when you first start out. If not, I'll be happy with anything I get.

Halloween is tough! I have to advert my eyes if I have to go down those isles in the store. I don't usually get kids coming to my house that night, but just in case I do get some candy. I hate hate hate coconut so I buy candy with that included. That way I'm not tempted. And hope that this year I'm not tempted to find out if I can just lick the chocolate off and not get any taste of the coconut. lol

I think I'm about 290 lbs now. I quit smoking about 3 weeks ago and gained about 7 lbs. Now I'm back on track.

Started 4 weeks ago. I am down 13 lbs as of last Tues.Hoping for 2 this week as well. Though a knee issue has kept my activity low. I want to lose another 10 by the end of Sept, but if I stay on track, I can definitely see 30 by Halloween!

I know, right? Well, I'm here. I lost 1 lb, this past week. I could have done better but it's been a crazy week getting the kids back into a school routine and online. Still have two that have to go through Driver's Ed courses. EEK!

Congrats! NoExcuses22 on the loss! That's vunder-fall!

Lost 1 lb this week even with going to the Iowa State Fair where they offer every kind of fried food you can imagine ....on a stick! I'm going to look at it as almost 1/2 way to the 30lb goal😂🎃

Nice going Porthos75!!

I'm excited to hear how everyone else is doing.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to check in a day early. I've got to say I am way better. Thanks so much for yall's concerns. It has been a stressful week to say the least. emoticon I have felt like drownin' my stresses away with either food or drink, but I'm not a drinker.

BUT out of that dark mood emoticon I have taken an early peak at the scales and I have to say...I have not only lost the 2 lbs but a little extra. Now I'm not revealing all until tomorrow. emoticon . I am excited!!!

emoticon That's me doing a happy dance. Though I'm not that thin...yet. Nor could I actually do that in real life. And I think that's a guy. emoticon

I can't WAIT for everyone to check in tomorrow. I am eager to read how everyone's week went GOOD or BAD. This is my favorite thread. emoticon Oooh, see ya'll tomorrow!

Keep Sparking!

I'm so sorry to hear about your knee how frustrating but, it sounds like you have a great attitude.
No loss this week (totally expected) but I'm ready to jump back in ... I truly want to get that 30 pound pumpkin off of my body by Halloween.

OH LUNATIC_13 OUCH

My thoughts and best wishes are with you over the next few days/week I cant imagine. Dont re-injure yourself. Just do what you can and maybe adjust your weight goal if it becomes necessary so you still have something to reach for that is reasonable without injury or so much angst you think of stopping.

emoticon Hope everyone who was/is sick is getting better. Two of my kids are sick right now, and my dad's girlfriend is super sick.

So, I feel emoticon . I've gained 2 lbs back. emoticon But, I was gone for a week and things have been cray cray since I've been back AND I have to go this next week for 3 days. I really got to get my stick together.

I went grocery shopping, stuck to my list and I am ready to climb up on that horse and super glue myself in that saddle if I have too. I had to slow my routine's down because I blew out my knee 3 days ago. emoticon ....Who's got the super glue! emoticon

Well, I just gotta emoticon

emoticon Hey, Everyone!
I'm so happy to be back. It's hard to stay on track when you don't have readily access to your stuff like when you're at home.

Jinganz, I'm so sorry about your medical issues. I hope you get over them soon. I have been there and know exactly what you're going through. It's frustrating and aggravating and at times you just want to give up. Well, don't. We're here to support you and if you just need a boost, get on board and we'll give you a good ole shot of happy. emoticon

MzPumkin, Wow! 4lbs, that is great...(incomplete sentence, kids would shoot me. Lol) That is awesome! You aught to find you a 4 lbs pumpkin and see how much it weighs, and how big it is. You know what I like to do. Go to Wally world aka Walmart and take weights in the amount I've lost so far and make myself and my kids hold them. It can be really impressive. Also, I hope you get to feeling better.

NoExcuses, Glad to know you're back on track after two bad days. Ugh! I had a really bad day Tues evening. It was my own fault. I let myself go too long without eating and when DH took us out for dinner I pigged out. Yesterday wasn't too bad, I worked out like crazy trying to get back on board. I took an early peek at the scales, evil thing, and did not like what I saw. So today is my reboot day. We should get lots of those. LOL

Alisonkrutsch, oh goodness you're sick and have kids going back to school and one is having surgery. I will be praying for you. Hold on, it'll be a bumpy ride, but you'll get through it. I'm rooting for ya.

Khufstetler, hey twin! Oh, I looked at your ticker and you're just leaving me in the dust. I better catch up or you're going to leave me so far behind, well, I'll just cry. I hope everything went well at the Drs.

Ya'll have a great day, ya hear! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello Sparkers emoticon
I'm going to Dr. Tomorrow so I'll get to weigh in. emoticon even if I haven't lost any ...I can make adjustments with that information.
I am very excited. I'm getting a refund that's going to help in many ways. One way it is going to help is that I can buy food on a list that worked for me to drop 60 lbs in 7 months WITHOUT exercise. Its just healthier than what I can afford right now. Even if I just get two months like that...it could jump start me again. I'm very optimistic!

I have been down sick the last few days. I am feeling better now but I have quite a week coming up! I have two kids coming home, one kid having surgery, back to school, etc. etc. Ahhhhhhh. I just need to pace myself and I think I will be OK. I just need to make sure I have more fruits and veggies on hand than I have junk food!

Grrr, 2 bad food days in a row, I have been fighting PMS for 2 weeks (Dang pre menopause!!) and I totally lost control the last 2 days. I'm back on track and in a much better place mentally today so I'm truly hoping I didn't derail my weight loss streak.

MzPumpkin, I love your pumpkin comparison, makes me want to find a 30lb pumpkin and see just how big it is.

Jinganz, keep posting and I hope the specialist will be able to help.

Lunatic, so glad you found the time to check in.

DrWallace, Welcome aboard the Halloween express.

Thank you for the warm welcomes =) Sorry, I disappeared so quickly... I hate to say I have difficulty finding these boards (why aren't they just linked from the start page??) but I've also got viral conjunctivitis so screen time has been rather unpleasant.

I did want to say that while I was at the drs today I jumped on the scale...clothed, mid day, etc!.. and I am down 4 pounds. I hope it's not just because I'm sick as I have a sinus infection, too.

Anyhow, I was thinking.. I lost the equivalent of a 4 pound pumpkin so far! Let's all lose some serious pumpkins this week!!! =) emoticon

I haven't lost anything the past two weeks. I have had some medical issues so I haven't been able to exercise at all. emoticon Hopefully I'll be seeing a specialist soon and will get back to normal. I'm glad to see everyone else's progress though. emoticon

I'm BAAACKK!...well, just for a few minutes anyway. Ran home to take my daughter to work and I am trying to play catch-up.

I weighed on Saturday? I stayed the same. But I haven't been able to work out, other than pushing a wheelchair around Wally-world (aka Walmart) and Joanne's. I haven't ate much, either. Though on Fri. I ate a good big meal because Ms. Dottie wanted to meet my bff and took us both out to lunch and they both fed me their fried ocra. Now I would have only eaten the half of my bff's, but Ms. Dottie wanted me to eat the other half of hers, so not to hurt anyone's feelings I ate both. My downfall, I think.

emoticon DRWALLACE98, glad to have you on board! YAY!

The Overnight Oats sounds awesome! I can't wait to try it!

Hello Everyone! I'll be back Wed. Read ya then!

This week was a busy week. I had some prescription changes so it has been messing with my sleep patterns. I did manage to get in the yard and do some digging I have been planning around the perimeter of my yard. That was some workout! Today I finally picked the only zucchini I can see on any of my three plants. My favorite thing to do with this is to us the Pam butter spray (or olive oil spray) and then just saute it up in a pan. It tastes terrific and has barely any calories! I didn't get a chance to weigh in so I don't know if I lost this week but I remained active.

Every day is a new day.

Well even with all the extra workouts still lost only two pounds this week but any loss is awesome so I'll take it I know all the extra work will show up somewhere at some point and I'll get a nice surprise on the scale.
I did try the banana ice cream this week I added semi-sweet chocolate chips and cherries it's amazing and love that it's totally guilt free!

Jenny I would love to try the overnight oats I've seen them on Pinterest many times and thought it looked good.

Disney I can't wait to hear more about your new job good for you for planning ahead and being ready for the week to come.

Alice and I think we're in the same boat let's keep pushing through I really do think it will show up on the scale eventually.

Lunatic good luck with your week sounds like you're going to be really busy hopefully things go well with the woman you're taking care of can't wait till you can come back and post again

Well, I finally made it to a stopping place to check in. I've been running around all day trying to get ready for Monday. It's orientation at the new job. (Actually, it's Handle with Care training. It's going to be very! physical. I'm really nervous about it.) Things have been popping like popcorn lately, and I've really not watched what I've eaten. Could go on and on about it... but aw, well.

Did end up getting weighed today. Went to the CVS and waded through sick people for my turn. Won't do that again. I can't get sick... and them folks looked sick. Can't say it was a good number, but I was expecting something unpleasant.

The good news is with this new job starting on Monday, I've got nearly all of next week's meals planned out. Granted most of them come out of a box, but still - they're planned.

For lunches this week I'm taking pasta salad with peppers, chic peas, and purple onion. HiddenHarbor's recipe inspired me - but I went some the pasta...

Welcome all our new folks! Jenny I love your oats idea - I'll try that.... I've never heard of doing that before. Love oatmeal!!

Hope everyone has a great week! emoticon

I haven't checked in for awhile. I must admit I feel frustrated because I am exercising a lot but the weight is not coming off like I would like it to. However, the scale is dropping.

Oh! I am so glad to be here! I really need a challenge since sitting around hoping the weight will come off is not working!

I tried a new recipe, Overnight Oats. I found it on Pintrest. The basic recipe is a half cup rolled oats and a half cup liquid, such as milk, almond milk, water or juice. Put it in an 8 oz. canning jar or other container and leave it in the fridge overnight. Then you add in your mix ins. They recommend 1/2 a mashed banana, then make up your own combination such as peanut butter and jelly, blueberries, Mimi chocolate chips and all sorts of things. I added chopped pecans and coconut to mine this morning. I have to say, it was pretty good, but took a little getting used to ice cold oatmeal. I am a teacher and I ate way too many Pop tarts last year because they are convenient. I think that if I make up several servings of Overnight Oats at the beginning of each week, I won't have I reason to grab the "junk" to just fill me up!

emoticon Jenny! So glad to have you join us! The more the merrier! (I wish they had an emoticon where the eyes are squinted, biting the lower lip while grinning, and a single tear) I'm that excited!!! I love having more in our challenge!! YAY!! emoticon

Ok sparkers, FYI I will be gone from today till next Tues. I have to go do an overnight for around 6 days with the elderly lady I care for. Her daughter is going out of town. It means big $$ for me. Got to get my hubby's lawn mower out of the shop and the kids school tuition.
I'll try and post but I don't know if I will. My lady is sick right now, so I may be up to my eyeballs in busy.
But the moment I get back and I'll do my weigh in. I have a good feeling about this one I've been spending at least an hour in the pool and added walking to my routine. I need to put in some yoga. emoticon

Well you Sparkers have a good few days without me! I'll miss yall! emoticon BUT then again, I may be lurking. emoticon

I would like to join this challenge too! I typically lose a pound a week, but since I am restarting my weight loss journey, I will put 30 pounds as my goal.

Shoot for the moon, and if you miss you will land amongst the stars!

I have been doing walking as my main form of exercise.

I tried riding my bike last night and fell off! (I'm okay.)

I just weighed myself and found that I weigh more than I thought. I will try weighing myself in the morning and see if it is more accurate. I usually weigh in first thing in the morning.
Okay, I am off to update my Spark Page!

I've been exercising daily and getting my water in. Won't know if I am losing til I see a Dr. as I don't own a scale. Will get next weight on the 12th. I was cautioned that I may have a tougher time right now BC I just quit drinking and my chemicals may be screwed up. But I am hopeful emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's awesome that we are close. I'm gonna add you as a friend. I could use more friends and that's totally neat about the weight.

looking for friends to connect with, get to know, and encourage each other along this journey. :-)

Hey guys - I tried a weird concoction last night - in quiet desperation.... a cup of low fat vanilla yogurt and a tablespoon of Ovaltine. It was really good. I might try freezing it...

It boosted the vitamin count too. I'd say this is an estimate 'cause there are so many brands of yoghurt, etc.

It's me again. emoticon

It's great NoExcuses22 that you lost 2 lbs this week! emoticon And the salad recipe sounds delicious. I'm going to try it. Then I can put it down as something new I tried in August. YAY!!

Jinganz, you went to the lake twice this week. You lucky thing. I've had company since Thursday afternoon and I'm telling you I've been a busy bee, but a happy bee. What a great recipe tip. My oldest daughter would agree. She loves mustard.

emoticon MzPumkin! It's so good to have you and KHugstetler join us. The more the merrier! And I just love your recipes. I think I'll use that a lot from now on. I'll tell ya what, I don't want to even put in what I ate over the last two days while company was here. I feel so guilty. emoticon

KHufstetler, I was looking at your ticker, and was like wow. You started near where I started, you're smaller, and we've got either the same goal weight or near the same. That is cool. We're like emoticon !

I'm happy this evening, I hope everyone else is happy too. emoticon

emoticon Hey everyone! Wow! What an awesome group! Way to go on the new job DisneyLife! emoticon

Any weight loss between now and Halloween is considered a win in my book. I'm telling you, it's hard but so worth it. I had a funeral to go to on Thursday and I put on my usual attire and it was nice not having it so tight, and my heels. Oh wow! I thought I'd never be able to wear heels again. My daughter even commented how well I was walking. It isn't even close to what I NEED to lose but every little bit helps.

I haven't been good this week. A lot of stress and I haven't been able to stick with my walking routine like I said I would, but when you're entertaining all weekend. Wait! Does walking around a store and shopping count? emoticon emoticon

As for the scales. Well, as everyone has read my are evil, but since talking about replacing it, it has started to behave...except on weigh in day. The first read said I'd lost 7lbs, I did a second and third and I think the darn thing was laughing at me. But it did give 3 same reads after I told it to 'shut up and give me my #' emoticon

Oh, I'm so excited to have more people join us for our weekly weigh in! YAY!

Hey it's great to have you with us, MZPumpkin! I remember when I went over the 300 mark too.... ugh! It's okay... you've got this!!! :) This has been a really supportive team. I've been really grateful for them. emoticon

I love the idea of crock pot meals... there was a popular thing for a while of making and freezing, like 20 meals at once and doing meal swaps... Let us know how your cook book works out!

Thank you =) Work is starting a "biggest loser" challenge on the 10th so I'm hoping to have a lot of work support and my mother (although long-distance) has promised to help keep me accountable!

I appreciate the group effort to keep each other on track! =)

For my check in: I've gained this week, overall, about 3 pounds. I now weigh more than I ever have in my life. I'm officially over 300 pounds now. =(

My recipe: Don't eat anything I ate. It didn't work out so well.

Product? I bought a 300 low carb slow cooker recipe book today. I'm hoping it will help with my lack of time to prepare healthy meals. I'll post what I try this week.
