The last of the clutter off the table/desk today. I am thinking of taking more books down to the community shelves.

I started in my tiny kitchen today and washed all of the dishes, wiped down the cabinets and emoticon the floor. I moved to the living room, cleaned off the couch and put anything away that was resting there and have moved on to the dining table/desk. I filled my medicine containers for the next two weeks and took all of the medications back to the hiding place.
I need to finish the table and Dori's box.

I have curtains instead of doors for my closet in the bedroom--my boy cat has hidden behind them and attacked my foot as I passed by---so we often made a game of it---they can be so funny.
Hope the change in meds helps you out.

I am not sure that this cat would allow me to bathe her but she does love to get behind the shower curtain and jump out at me. I haven't accomplished much due to the health issue but I am changing up some of my medications and hope that will work.

My worst place is a toss-up between the garage-where a lot of the crap isn't mine, and the office--where most of the crap is mine. I went to look at the garage this morning and found a box of books to start with. Not mine but Ma bought them so long ago, she had forgotten them. Now I am going to look through them, keep any I want to read, and carry the rest to the library for the book sale. Then I will go out to the office and see if I can match this haul book for book with what is out there. It is so hard for me to part with books!

Everything? Everywhere!
Living room is DH's choice to start on cause people see it first.

My choice would be my sewing room, but DH has designated it storage for anything he doesn't know where to store, old toys we don't need, his collection of Louis Lamour and other western books(around 2-300), etc. etc. etc.....

But I like the idea of smallest first! Bathroom it is. Think I'll start there after the holiday.

It was in large part all the food hoarded that was in cardboard boxes (like mac and cheese, rice, etc). I cleaned all that out and blocked all possible entrance points around the house, showed her how to store food in sealed containers or just keep cans out there, and there haven't been any mice since.

I think I am fairly well caught up now. That being said my Mom's garage needs "spring cleaning" and that's the goal for April when the weather gets better. Shouldn't be nearly as bad as last year - when it was infested with mice. Yuck!

Larri, good idea to start with the smallest room---actually, your whole plan makes sense---but don't expect it to be all done in one swell swoop---remember to not overwhelm yourself and do it in small bites---one drawer/shelf at a time---using a timer helps.
Judi, same for you---do it one at a time---set that timer---and remember, if you don't love it, get rid of it.
And glad to see some new faces in the posts!

The entire apartment!

I should start in my bathroom, because that's the smallest room. And then my bedroom, because maybe decluttering will help with more restful sleep. Then my kitchen, because I have been avoiding cooking because I can't find anything - it would be so much more healthful and less expensive to stop eating out or getting takeout.

I wore a pair of smalls this time that I already had and it was much better BUT even those were sorta falling off. To be honest I bought the new smalls and didn't try them on because I wasn't feeling well, figuring I'd try them on at home later on and return what didn't fit (with places like TJ Maxx sometimes if you don't buy it right then, it's gone when you come back). I was realllly bloated this week, so in the next couple days I will try them on with an honest assessment. I still have 4-5 lbs to lose to get to race weight, so if they are even a BIT on the big side I'm taking them back for size XS.

Sorry about the job too. Hope he finds something better.

I was thinking about the workout pants yesterday. I went to a class at the gym and wore one of the mediums that still somewhat fit because I'm badly bloated this week. Well they didn't "really" fit and for jump rope, box jumps etc I had to keep pulling them up. Not only was it awkward it prevented me from getting as good a workout as I could have if I didn't have to do that.

Anyway, my Mom has a serger and sewing machine. Shouldn't be too hard to size them down. they are just stretchy workout pants so not like something complex.

I agree about pants---if you lose weight, that is the one thing you need to replace---larger tops are okay---but not pants falling off---that is almost as bad as the ones so skin tight that they show everything.

DO NOT sell yourself short by trying to wear-out too-big clothes! I tried that, and wound up having to hold up my pants at the mall because they were slipping much too far down... and I'm not young enough to get away with wearing my crotch down to my knees!

My dream would be to re-do my kitchen. Counters are starting to lift, the sinks look awful (came with the house -- black and scratched so they never look clean!), but worse of all, very bad lighting!

Well, they are new but I did wear them for a season. I'm not the type that wears things for a season and donates them. I did buy them at like TJ Maxx type places, too, so the damage isn't that bad.

I went to TJ Maxx tonight to get another pair of ski pants that I bought there and liked, and lo and behold they had workout pants in size XS and S cheap on clearance. So I bought several and now will donate the ones that are too big.

I was saying to myself "I can still wear these for Yoga" or whatever, but in reality, no. I have a friend who is a single mom, maybe she can fit into these things that are too big for me. They are name brand, Nike, Adidas, etc too.

Tri-babe, I totally understand the part about not wanting to donate brand new stuff that never got used. It's a mental block for me too - I have to tell myself all sorts of things to be able to let go such as "The money's already spent. Holding on to it will just add clutter to the money already spent. There's someone out there who will really appreciate this." and so on.

Good luck!

My photo and video equipment in the basement. It's organized into bins on shelves I made, but what's in the bins themselves need to be sorted.

And, I just discovered, my warmer weather/gym workout clothes. I mostly play outdoor sports and since it's been colder out, I put away my warmer weather/gym workout clothes in a rollaway under-the-bed bin. I pulled it out since I decided to go to a class at the gym last week, and lo and behold I was almost late to class because all the clothes in there were too big for me and I couldn't find anything to wear. I finally found "something" but I feel like I looked weird, like I borrowed someone else's clothes.

It's not a big job, part of it is mental because I am sorta mad that I have to donate some of that stuff. It's all new, I just bought it last year (not that I am sad I lost weight LOL).

Just realized I didn't answer the second half of the question about what needs to be done.

I need to clear the countertops. Things are piled one on top of others.

I need to clear the floors. Boxes and items stacked in corners and under table.

I have a little kid table in there that was supposed to be for my kids to sit in and do arts and crafts but it's piled high with stuff. Need to clear it and maybe get rid of that table altogether.

Need to clear the kitchen table. Lots of papers and items that don't have a home.

Need to go through pantry and cupboards to toss stuff not needed and organize a bit so I can see what's in there more easily.

Need to sweep, vacuum, scrub the floor, clean appliances.

Need to remove the easel that's in there next to the kid table. Thought they were going to do art in the kitchen but too cluttered and it ended up being a holder of plastic bags and miscellaneous.

My whole house. : (

But if I had to pick one I'd pick the kitchen because we spend a lot of time there. And also because it's dangerous to have so much clutter there.

My pantry room.

I need to go through and discard outdated stuff. Then restock my shelves with stuff that I have in the kitchen.

Will make that room more functional and my kitchen more organized.

I'd like to take everything out of the spare bedroom and hobby room and put in garage to sort through. But, can't do that; garage needs de-cluttering also! LOL!

Just one? LOL Guess right now the one that needs the most organization would be the spare room---that is where I put most Christmas stuff and have not had a chance to organize my crafts and stuff that I have moved in there. I bought a really nice scrapbooking shelving unit and need my son to help me put in the dividers that came with it---they are really tight fit---then I can better organize that---I also need to clean off the bed so if I have a guest, they can stay---or I can go take a nap. We also moved a cabinet in there from our bedroom---got a new piece of furniture for that room---now I need to decide what to store in there, also.

What is your most needed room or area in your home that you would like to see organized/de-cluttered?

What needs to be or would you like to see done?
