Went grocery shopping today so I didn't get on my bike. Instead I walked the Walmart store three times before I did my shopping. I got in 20 minutes of walking first. I told my husband what we were going to do and he was game. We walked around three times then stopped and looked at stuff and did our shopping. It worked out good and was a little change from my usual. Also got a cheap pedometer so I can join the Rocky Mountain challenge on the Chair Exercises team. It is not very accurate but for $5 what do you expect. I clipped it to my slipper when I got home and have been getting up and walking around my house every time a commercial comes on.

Finishing up week #2... and it feels great to be active everyday! I am finding that instead of taking 1-2 days off each week, it is easier to stay in the flow of working out if I am active every day. There are days that I do much more than the 10 minutes suggested, and days when I am proud of just fitting in the 10 minutes.

I just finished up week 2 and I feel great. Again, I reached all my goals early. It helps that I have a good system with myself these days. I fight harder to reach the goals and I don't give up. That's the old me. I'm not a quitter anymore. I lost 2 lbs at my last weigh in on Sun and I'm very excited to start Week 3.

Woo hoo!! I am finished week 2 and moving on to week 3. I was able to sneak in little ten minute bouts of exercise several times every day!! It's getting easier and easier! I've proved to myself that I can do it. So.... now.... I'll have to work on maybe begining a longer exercise time. I am excited and ready to move on.

well, my second week was a breeze.....but I didn't do exactly what my goal was. I originally planned on setting a patern of doing a quick 10min. cardio in the evening before my shower. Taking a shower, doing some relaxation breathing and then read a good book....and this was supposed to be above my normal activities/exercise.

Instead....I ended up playing tennis most nights from 8-10pm....jumped in the shower when I got home...whipped up some nutritional snack and DID NOT do my relaxation breathing or read a good book....because the second my head hit the pillow I WAS OUT....I've slept better this week than I have in A LONG time.....until the morning and I'm crawling out of bed with all of the tender aches and pains from playing tennis....teehee....

On the few nights I didn't play tennis....I would "On Demand" a quick 10 min. cardio routine....and one night I just walked up and down my stairs for 10 min. straight....THAT SUCKED....didn't think it would be so tiring...but it was harder than the stairmaster at the gym....I think cause I didn't have music...gigge.

Whoops, forgot to post here last week. Had a good week, worked out at least 30 minutes every day either with a video or taking a brisk walk with my dog. I'm looking forward to the weather cooling down so I can enjoy more walks outside, they really help me clear my head and relax.

Starting week 2 today. Week one went well, I am feeling much better about myself since starting this challenge. I used to work out 5 days a week, then take two days off, but always felt kinda slow on my first day back. Now that I am moving EVERY day, I can tell I have more energy, and I don't have to talk myself into my workouts anymore; it is just expected.

I have completed week #2. I did at least 10 minutes exercise everyday using my Wii fitness games. I squeezed in extra exercise by doing two lunges on each leg after each restroom break. Best of luck, everybody!

Just finished up week 2. I've missed one day out of the two weeks, so I think I'm doing pretty well. Most days I've been able to manage 30 or more minutes, but on crazy days, it's great to have permission to only go for 10 minutes.

Going to try and mix it up a little this week, we'll see how it goes.

I joined this challenge on 8/17 and am so excited to be moving every day. I'm now beginning week 2. During the first week, I took walks and rode bikes with my daughter and son. Now that they're heading back to school, I'm going to start using the Wii, in addition to the treadmill and stationary bike.

I had to take a trip that required 11 hours driving one day, followed by two days in intense heat in a crowded area with no exercise zone, followed by 10 hours driving home. I actually managed to get some walks the first two days but the heat got me the second two. Back home and ready to get back on track! How do other people exercise in very hot rural areas? No gyms, no malls - one day I parked on the far side of the Walmart parking lot knowing that what I needed inside was on the opposite back corner of the superstore. At least Walmart has air conditioning!

I can't believe I ate almost the whole thing myself. Went to a Emerald's baseball game with friends on Tues. night. I had such a great time. I had to meet my friends right after work so no time for supper. I bought a popcorn and a Pepsi. I ate most of the bag of popcorn before I realized I am going to have to work hard to get these calories off. I gave away less than half the bag. so that helped a little.
Went for a walk twice around the block yesterday. That is all I had time for.
Used my Stability ball while watching some TV lasjt night.
I am not going to kick myself for what I ate at the game. Just going to try and do better at watching what I eat, and getting more exercise. emoticon

I get pretty bored with my regular routine but this week I went out with a bunch of people form work and first we played volleyball for about an hour and then we danced for another hour. What a workout and I haven't had so much fun in ages!

I listen to the party music channel on tv while cleaning now. I mean how can you not dance to those 80 dance tracks? In addition to working out every day more I run up the stairs and park farther away. After seeing myself in my daughters wedding pictures I seriously want to lose this weight. This 10 minute a day challenge has been great...I can do anything for 10 minutes.
I posted my vision collage and a sign that reads "I can do hard things" where I can see it while I work out. I feel good.

Live Simply. Love Generously. Care Deeply. Speak Kindly. Pray constantly. Leave the rest to God.

I just want to lose 5 pounds this month. Start 8-8-11

My week 2 went well, although I started getting bored with my best friend (the treadmill). So, I started dancing instead and that was fun. I never realized how much you sweat when you dance, especially when you're dancing to some good music. Let's keep it moving Spark People!!! Will power is on our side. ;D

I am a little on the sick side. However, yesterday I did get 10 min of fast paced walked in. I reflected on yesterday and know when I am at 100% I do so much better.

Been parking away from the store to walk, doing the dishes by hand and vacumming the past 3 days. I cleaned the house, picked up, dusted, vacummed, and started/folded/put away laundry in 1 hr today actually it took me about 5 more minutes......I was sweating!

I have also been getting on the elliptical for 10 minutes 2-3X a day to keep me goin mentally. Especially if I take a nap, thats the condition, if I don't I feel like I am slipping mentally, I need to be rejuvinated after my cat nap..20 min-1 hr.(which I try not to go over 20 min)

I reflect upon my day ALL day with positive self talk about what has happened here and now and how it is helping me be more healthier, and then when I go to sleep I reflect on the positives and how I can improve or maximize my workout the next day.

Saturday is my quiet day but still managed to work in 2 hours walking so feeling pleased with that. Two items to be taken from the 30 days to do something will be wearing a pedometer and doing some home cooking or rather home baking as we eat in a lot and I cook a lot. Will let you know what new recipes we've tried from the SP recipe collection

Working out for 10 minutes at a time is a great way to exercise for me because I'm breastfeeding and I never quite know when my four-month old daughter will need me.

So here are two things I've done so far:

1. I use the stair-climber in front of the TV.

2. I perform the DVD zumba basics bit by bit with my elder son, who's 8. It takes us 6 days to complete the whole workout but we love it because we've got two left-feet each. We have so much fun!

Use it or lose it.
Practice makes perfect.
Small things over time make a huge difference.

I've had a few major things going on in my life this past week. My daughter had surgery (thankfully all went well) and we had a death in the family. Given all of this, I am proud to say that I only missed 2 days. I'm not beating myself up for missing it, just moving on and making the next day a new day. I have made a somewhat surprising discovery - I like to clean. And since I have a 5-year-old, a messy husband, a 5-month-old, a dog, and a cat in a very small house, I have a lot of cleaning to do pretty much all the time. So on the days where it is nearly impossible for me to get out for a walk or a swim, I have been doing some super cleaning and really working up a sweat. Today I danced around with my son for a while and we also took the dog for a walk. I'm feeling really great. I love the idea of taking baby steps and 10 minutes is so doable. For this upcoming week, my goal is to work in some strength training on top of the cardio as I have not been good about that at all.

BUT I still did 10 minutes in my chair doing stretches and light weight exercises with my arms.

I was not feeling up to exercising. I as feeling abdominal cramping & discomfort all day. I finally decided to walk for ten minutes as sometimes it helps my cramps go away. So I put the timer for 15 minutes, then upped it another 5 as I came to the end of 15 minutes. I kept adding 5 minutes and before I know it I did 30 minutes and 1 mile. I am tired now but also feel better with a sense of accomplishment.

I feel so great when I exercise! So why is it so hard to get myself to exercise??? Went for a 20 minute bike ride the other day and felt so super-charged afterward, but it was so difficult to even motivate myself out the door. I am trying to incorporate exercise more into my day-to-day life. I really like the articles about turning everyday stuff into a workout...as it is quite often that I find myself only having time to work out or to get that laundry done.

I am really proud of myself. I was so dead to the world and did not want to do my 10 minutes. But I did do it, and it felt really good!!

Quick Tip-- I started marking down the exercise on a calendar, it feels really good looking at the days and keeping up with this promise I made to myself. If you are a visual person I really suggest it, I cant wait to mark today after my work-out!

Good luck,
Lauren

It is so true that 10 minutes easily turns into 50 or 60 min... The greatest challenge seems to be getting to the place of mentally committing to moving! I do yoga daily, but started incorporating a 2 mile walk with one of my teenage daughters. We both look forward to it!

Last week I managed to get in a walk or workout on my stationary bike plus exercises/stretches everyday. This week so far I relaxed on Sunday and yesterday I walked to an appointment and took a long way back going through a neighborhood park for a total of 1.9 miles. The rest of this week I plan to get in at least 10 minutes plus every day. I am also planning to jazz up some of my exercise routines by adding some belly dancing.

Even with a sore foot, took ibuprophen, then did 35 minutes on the elliptical with the midsection workout and also did crunches and twists.

Finding it much easier then I thought to get 10 min. of exercise each day! Love my timer - I have several times restarted it and aimed for another 10 :)

Week 2 here I'am. I did 6 days last week. I will get 7 days of fitness this week. The activities I picked from the calendar are:

1)Take the stairs

2)Tune-in to your
body.When
watching TV, think of
other activities you can
do instead of lounging,
such as marching in
place or riding your
exercise bike

3) Shake it! Create
a playlist of
songs that you just can't
sit still to, and let loose! emoticon

Someones ask that this link be posted for them

It is so easy for me to get home from work, sit down and watch my tv show, and then neglect my exercise. Like you, and many others I am sure. I have to get right to my exercise when I get home from work or it doesn't get done.

Hi CHARMANIA,
Would you mind sharing with me where I would find the calendar you are referring to? I looked in the fitness tracker but could not see a monthly calendar with exercise suggestions. Thank you kindly for your help emoticon
