I have had a mixed week. have had a swim on one of the hot days here, and today went for a walk with a friend at her place - not something I've done before. I have kept up using the pedometer, and have reached 10000 steps most days. One thing that I have been a bit down about is that one of my favourite buddies at the gym (Curves) is leaving soon, and that will make a big difference to me I think. I will have to think of some other ways to keep motivated. Keep up the good work everyone. It is interesting to read of your efforts. Good work!!

Started week one all 'gung-ho' and overworked myself and was sore. Laid off exercise for a few days. Had an ah-ha today recognizing that many, many things I do every day are part of the exercise process (like going up and down the stairs at least 50 times per day). Makes it easier to feel good about tackling the exercise issues when the 'bite is not so big'. Small steps and awareness are a huge successful for me today. emoticon

This second week is going pretty well. I am starting to think about bumping up the workout a bit. My energy level has definitely increased.

This week has been difficult because I have had so much work I couldn't get to the gym. I've stuck to doing an hour a day with walking the the Spark fitness video each day, but I am feeling quite frustrated with it. Hopefully I will have caught up on the work and be able to make a fresh start next week.

Did 15 minutes vinyasa yoga this morning and parked quite a ways from my appointment so I had a brisk 10 minute walk there and back!

Have kept the walking up this week, and yesterday did a few minutes going up and down stairs as an extra. I live upstairs, so do get a bit of stair work in but this was 'extra' and only for exercise, rather than in order to get down to ground level for some other reason!

I teach kindergarten, so I've been running, skipping, just playing with kids on recess instead of standing around talking with other adults. We also do a lot of singing in class, so I've been picking songs with a lot of movement as well. The kids love it, too.

I have been wearing my pedometer all week and getting up to walk 10 min for every hour that I am sitting. This has been helping me relieve some of the joint and hip pain I have been experiencing. I have also continued to walk the dogs a couple of times a day.

Today is the first day of week 2 for me. So far, I've been getting in 15 minute of yoga - both gentle and vinyasa - every day, some walking. My new favorite way to sneak in 10 minutes, though, is one of Coach Nicole's videos - a seated cardio workout that I did at my desk at work on Wednesday! I'm excited to do it again and find some other new ways to get in my 10+ minutes.

I have just started week 2 also, and have been doing well. I want to find at least one new activity to try for 10 minutes this week, not just stick to the tried and true walking, Curves classes and the occasional swim. I caught up with a friend today and was reminded of how well I am doing though. Nothing like a bit of support in these challenges!

Went bowling for the first time in many years. My knees are a little sore but after the second game, I started to feel a little bit more coordinated. We'll do this again next week. According to SP fitness, 30 minutes of bowling is over 200 calories. Not bad

week 1 done and I was surprised to find my scale went up instead of down
I've been putting extra time in at my Mom's which helps with MY exercise by washing windows, gardening, and a 5 hour cleaning of the stove (it needed dismantling to get to the hard to reach areas) to name a few things.
the weather here is so volatile, wind rain sun just don't know what will arrive day to day, I prefer to get my exercise outdoors so this can be a setback for me, we'll see.

Well, today is the first day of tax season. Going back to working 6 days a week until the middle of April. But I am determined to keep up with my daily exercise and Bible reading, and weighing ONLY once a week. I really do want to weigh before Wednesday, but I won't.

Yesterday I prepared a Spark recipe - Not-fried shrimp. It was wonderful! We think we like it BETTER than fried shrimp. It was breaded and crispy, but not full of fat. emoticon It's in my favorites if you want to check it out.

I have not been very good at the 30 ways to add extra activity to my day. Actually I don't remember it, so I may try week 2 again. But we don't have kids or a dog. It's winter so working in the yard is not an option. We live in a very small town and there few two-story buildings other than the court house so taking stairs instead of elevators isn't really an option. We usually wash dishes by hand anyway. But I'll find something. If I remember, I could do some chair/desk workouts.

Did some type of cardio each day last week. We were traveling, but I found a gym where I could pay a daily rate. Did that a couple days. Stayed at a hotel one night so used their workout room before we checked out. Plus did lots of walking. Where I was staying (mother-in-laws house) there's no Internet, so I couldn't do any videos. Once a day I went to the local coffee shop to check emails and get on Sparkpeople, but I figured they wouldn't appreciate me jumping around to one of coach Nicole's videos!

This team, and this challenge, is so inspiring. I live that it's most days but not everyday--so I plan for every day, but if it doesn't happen one day, I'm ok.

I am finding it difficult too, it's just getting started that is hard, I think I'll start again, and keep starting, until I have 28 days in a row. Not beating myself up for missing a day but moving toward a life-long habit.

Hello,
I discovered a free app for my ipod that is a pedometer. It's really cool to challenge myself with it and listen to a downloaded playlist that keeps me motivated while on my walk. I've tried interval walking/jogging. I'm quite pathetic at only being able to run like 8 seconds at a time and then speed walking, but if I keep trying I'm sure I'll be able to improve, especially when I am carrying less weight around!
I also appreciate the tips on squeezing in ten minutes a day of other exercises, for example during a commercial break on my favorite TV show, and scrubbing harder when I clean...LOL, but hey it works! Great ideas and I'm so motivated to keep going!

Right now, it is different every day but mostly it has been through walking. Today, I really made sure I stayed active while cleaning the house - moving furniture to dust and taking the stairs. I think my next approach is going to be really getting those Spark People videos that are available online. I have also tried looking for free videos via Amazon Prime, but mostly they only have pay versions. However, I love the idea that you can rent soem videos (fewer than I would like) to try them out.

I am so glad I found this website. I am on day 11 in a row of exercising. I mostly ride my stationary bike. However, I love yoga and pilates so I try to get those in a few times a week as well. I've also started working out in the morning vrs at night. Getting home from work and chasing after a 2 year old is exhausting. Working out in the morning has been the best thing for me!

I have been using a pedometer regularly and have been hitting 10,000 steps a lot more than I expected to. I have been pushing myself to reach 7500 steps daily and I get that in more often than not. I also dug out my hula hoop! Another thing I did was find some yoga for kids on YouTube and I've been doing that with my 3 yo twins.

Have fun with your pedometer ZOEANAEL :) I have worn a pedometer for a long time now and I absolutely LOVE it! It's a wonderful way to challenge yourself (with daily goals) and it's also fun to try to beat your own 'high score' :)
