Thanks, Amy. Actually, the weather has benefitted me today! Because the weather is so crappy, they've cancelled the event that I was supposed to go to this afternoon till 9PM, so I CAN go for a walk this evening! It will either be a dreadmill walk @ the gym, or Walk It Out! on my Wii, but I'll get in at least 30 minutes, and only miss the "days" goal by ONE instead of 2!

Amy - I like this idea!!! I had kinda indicated something similar to ##1 in another post (I think???) I like the idea of having another goal added to it. I'm going to also add with mine to work out all but 4 days in the month (6 days/week + 1 DOR/week)

Here were my thoughts on possible challenges.

1. Pledge a number of minutes you think you can do and record minutes each day and try to meet or beat your pledge.

2. 4 weeks in October. Alternating each day - pushups or situps.
Week 1 - 10 each day
Week 2 - 15 each day
Week 3 - 20 each day
Week 4 - 25 each day

So you do situps one day and then the next day you do pushups. For those that need more of a challenge with the amount, just do 2 or 3 sets that day.
If you want to add in squats too, I think those could be done everyday.

Wanda, I started with wall push ups a couple of years ago and then moved to incline push ups. That is a perfect approach to start building up your strength.

I would suggest we do push up, sit up and squat challenges for October so we target upper and lower body and core.

I agree that I need a challenge for October also.

After NOT working out or walking yesterday, I won't make my goal for this month - the 2nd part of the challenge - working out 26 of 30 days. I'll only miss it by ONE day, so that's better than I've EVER done on a challenge before!!!!

Because I cannot make my goal for this month, I want to challenge myself to do the same next month - work out at least 30 minutes/day for 27 of the 31 days in October. When I finish up September, I'll know the minute count - I'm challenging myself to "one more minute per workout", so... 27 more minutes than whatever my September total is!

I like the idea of a situp challenge, too. I've not done any core training in SOOOOOO long, so for me, even doing any situps at ALL would be a challenge! I can't do pushups at all - I do "wall pushups".

I was thinking instead of us all shooting for a given number, we each pledge a certain amount of minutes that we plan on reaching. And our pledge should be a number that really challenges us.

I don't know if anyone would be interested in a push-up & sit-up challenge too.

Louisa - thanks for pushing me (in a GOOD way!!!)

Last night was a breakthru night for me. I had my HOA meeting (and HAVE to go, I'm the VP!) - usually I would have "blown off" exercising that day, but I actually went out walking between work and the meeting. OK, the fellow directors of the HOA probably looked at me askance since I didn't shower before the meeting, but I don't really care. Gee, you 'spose that's why no one sat next to me??? emoticon
