Just finished week 6 today. Feels good to be making so much progress, but I need to work on pacing myself better.

I just finished week 6!!! I can't believe the progress I've made. I can now run at least 9 minutes straight and a mile without stopping. It feels very exhilarating once I completed this week. Come on week 7 I'm ready for u!!!

Be blessed cause I know I am!

It's so amazing, I finished Week 6 on Friday - it felt so good, can't believe that I can run for 3 minutes at a time, multiple times lol and enjoy it, day 1 week 6 was rough for some reason it seemed the progression had stepped up quite a bit and it was rough, by day 2 week 6 I was so much better and the final day I ran/walked 2.5 miles, I'm really looking forward to next week and increasing the distance.
This has inspired me to train for a half marathon, just keep going the way the training has been. I plan to do a mud run at the end of my 8 weeks so we'll see how that goes. I have found that all the little aches and pains in my legs seem to go away after a couple days and find new places or disappear altogether, I'm thinking it is just my legs adjusting to running, the training program has really helped I think to minimize and eliminate any real injury from going to fast. All so very exciting so far!!

I run on the treadmill and put my incline up 1. I read that somewhere before that it makes it more like you are running outside. Do you know if that is correct??

Oh, Snackkie, I'm so glad you found a way to enjoy it. I was feeling so badly that your first outside run hadn't turned out well for you. I'm so glad you found a way to enjoy it. :)

Running on the TM and running outside are two different things.
Lots of different factors to consider!

I'm so happy your husband took you out and encouraged you to keep going!

With just over a week left to my first 5k I decided to run at the park on Saturday just gone.....and I was terrible I only ran for about 7 minutes before I had to stop.

It was very hot and hilly which meant I had to keep adjusting my pace; then my eyes started watering real bad and I couldn't stop sneezing I just felt like why should I even bother running another day it felt like I had wasted my time training on the treadmill for the past 6 weeks!!!!

But...this morning my husband took me out to start week 7 and help boost my moral, we left at 6:40am while it was still dark outside....It was fantastic I LOVED IT!!! It would seem on Saturday I was running tooo fast and I didn't warm up, not to mention the intense heat.

So... I'm going full steam ahead to the finish line!!!!!

Melissa-
I'm doing my first 5K the day after yours! Keep up the good work. You will love running outside. I was running on an inside track due to the heat, but have been running outside the last couple of weeks. It's way more fun!

Melissa, you will love running outside. I generally get better time when I run outside, and the scenery makes the journey more interesting. :)

Snackkie, music can make all the difference, can't it.

Great job, girls! Keep truckin'. :)

I finished week 6 today and start week 7 on Monday. It's amazing to think I could just about get through week 1 when I started and now I can keep going past 32 minutes especially with some good music. I feel sooo good for the day when I'm done. Looking forward to running first 5k in 2 weeks (currently running on treadmill).

Good luck Everyone!!!! emoticon

Way to go! I've only run on the treadmill so far but plan to try running outside next week. Finished week 6 & started week 7 today. Signing up for my 1st real 5K for 9/24!
