Week 6, day 2 - 32 minutes, then 6 minutes cool-down.

I thought I wasn't gonna make it tonight. I had to pause briefly a couple times and at one point, I thought I was gonna vomit because I felt food coming up. I took another swig of water and the feeling mostly went away. Tonight was a hard one, but I made it through. Now, time to collapse. X___________X

Starting week 6 and I am so excited! I have never, ever stuck to a running program before! The secret for me is finding a partner who is waiting for you to show up! We run on a track inside a huge airplane hanger on base. We are going to meet with my trainer who is working up a 30 minute Core routine for us to follow after our run 3 days a week!

My week 6 was supposed to start last week but I didn't do any exercise last week so I started yesterday. My ankles were hurting for most of the run and I accidentally took a 5 minute walking break in the middle* but I finished and didn't feel like I was going to die.

*I use an interval timer app but also listen to music at the same time so I didn't hear the timer signal to start my running and didn't realize this until my running round was more than half over so I ended up walking for 5 minutes in the middle of my run and then tacking that missed 3 minute run on at the end. It was probably a good thing since if gave my ankles a break.

I try again tomorrow.

I'm a bit behind, but I started day 2 of week 6 today. That one minute walk goes by quite fast. I kept looking at my stopwatch, thinking: already?! Nooooooo! emoticon (laugh)

The good news, I traveled 4.23 km today, which is the most I have ever run. The interval pacing really works.

I start Week 6 either Thursday or Friday. I hope it goes smoothly. The start of each week I find renewed determination to start and finish each workout except for week 5. Last week was a challenge for me. I have found reasons not to work out or to end the running sessions early.I told myself, " I will jog the first 3 and see if I can do another." I have completed all of my days/weeks thus far. I am looking forward to completing this program and seeing how far I have come. emoticon

Did day three today. It was hot out, so i used the treadmill. It feels harder on my ankles, so i only did the intervals for twenty minutes. I am not sure if i am ready for four minutes of running. I might continue at this step until i feel good going 32 minutes... Or i might work my time up at the 1-4 interval...we'll see how it feels next time.

Finally finished week 6 day 3. emoticon

Will start week 7 tomorrow. Really busy starting Thursday- picking 19 year-old up from college in Illinois for the summer, Friday- making multiple desserts, Saturday- "Ladies Dinner" at the site of our Sunday evening services, no access to kitchen so we have to take everything but tables and chairs. Will try to squeeze in day 2 on Friday or Saturday am.

Week 6 day 2 done again. Will try to do day 3 either late Saturday or on Monday and will start week 7 two days after that. I WILL FINISH THIS PROGRAM before the end of May.

Started out a bit too fast, emoticon and had to slow down for the last 4 intervals emoticon . Still managed just over 3 miles in 32 minutes.

Day 2 done. This is the toughest week so far. I am scared of week 7.

I noticed myself breathing a bit shallow, so focused on getting enough air..and also on running with good posture. Is there an article that talks about such details as foot strike, posture, breathing?

Thanks, sometimes I wish I could still do it on the road instead of just on the elliptical. Maybe when I get closer to my goal some of my issues will clear up and I can try really running. But for now it's use the elliptical and set the intensity where it is challenging but not too challenging.

Life got in the way last week. Only got in one run last week. Restarted week 6 this morning. DD texted several times during the workout, but I managed to get in 3 miles in the 32 min. Forgot to adjust intensity level down to my normal running level until the 6th interval, what a workout that was. But I finished it! emoticon emoticon

I started week 6 today. Was trying to do a modified version 3.5 to 1.5 with an interval timer I downloaded for my surface, everything was going fine until I got a phone call I HAD to take at about the halfway point, forgot to pause timer. emoticon I had to figure out where I was and continue on from there using the clock on the elliptical. I. probably didn't get in the full 24 minutes running but still came close. Listened to Michael W Smith - good for pacing.
