This is going to sound strange. I cleaned house and decorated for Christmas and then last night I just sat and enjoyed the clean and newly organized room and the tree.

The last few days I have spent time walking, and doing zentangles. It really felt like a holiday break!

Today I get back to work. There is a lot on my schedule, and I will need to be very intentional about getting my exercise and using time for my own health and benefits. I think I would like to fit in reading and processing information for learning this week. 20 mins is a good reading period with some journaling afterward. Do you think?

After driving to my sister's and back yesterday, she lives 3 1/2 hours from here. I stayed up to play with my new sewing machine. Today, I've started work on a quilt for my son for Christmas.
Today, I also walked/ran for an hour. I have to, I fell in love with turducken yesterday and they sent a lot of it home with us.

After staying up until 4:30 AM watching season 2 of Orange is the New Black, I took a good nap today.

And I did a quick 25 minutes of cardio. emoticon

My Self Time 11/25 & 2:30, 20 mins],
-I took a nap,
-I chose to do this because I was feel tired, or "nappish" as we say in my home.
-when I was done I felt better and more energetic.
-it was helpful because it helped me keep a good mood and get motivated to 1- recaulk the bathtub fixtures, and go take a walk w/DH.

Hello Good People,

Today I was responding to a team mate in one of the forums and was encouraging self time during this holiday week. As I read my response (lecture emoticon ) I was feeling the reminders for myself. And I also know that I don't have all of the answers- some of my ideas are good for me, but not for others. We all need to create our own strategies and answers - right?

So, for the next 40 days, through the holiday season and into the new year I am putting all of us up this challenge...

Give ourselves the holiday gift of time for ourselves every day.

Each day~ no matter what; work, study, family, crisis, illness, vacation, visitors - take 20 minutes for yourself, MINIMUM. Do something specifically to soothe your mind, heart and soul, reduce stress and feel good. Be intentional about your self care. Put it in your schedule and protect it. Take it greedily when the opportunity presents itself. "MAKE IT HAPPEN!" When you sign on to Spark report a quick summary in this forum. A suggested format is below. As we share, we can learn new strategies and activities for self care from one another. Be sure to track it in the team goal of "do something for yourself each day."

My Self Time [date & time you did it, total time],
-the activity,
-I chose to do this because...
-when I was done I felt...
-it was/wasn't very helpful because...

I'm looking forward to hearing from a lot of teammates and learning a lot!!

emoticon for joining me!
