I hope this works to play a cute little video from Headspace.com.

I tried it, but it didn't get to the same place. Ah well. They have some fun, short cartoons lessons that I always enjoy.

It's been weeks or months since I last visited the site, but I enjoyed it, and hope to do if more often.

Don't know if this is any good or not (Alicia is not one of my favorite Spark writers), since it is just links with no description. I'll check out at least some of them: 24 Short Mindfulness Practices for Your Sanity www.sparkpeople.com/resource

If you are wanting to add short workouts to increase your strength & stamina, but are a beginner or the routines by Amy and Jessica that I've posted are just too intense, I have a recommendation: Silver Sneakers has a series of 10-min videos with David Jack. I've tried several, and really like them. I can take most of them up a notch, but appreciate the cautions he always includes. I discovered them when I saw a 3-min video of his come up on YouTube addressing shoulder pain, with 3 exercises to help those muscles. This is the comment I just left when I subscribed to SS:

David Jack is a GREAT instructor--very clear, cues are easy to understand, humorous, and always reminds you to stay safe. I like how he explains the benefits of the different moves, too. I'm an experienced exerciser, but I have joint issues, so I appreciate balancing more intense workouts with these routines. I would recommend them for any beginner!

As an example, here is 10-Minute Total-Body Tune-Up www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYfr

I mentioned it in my status, and I haven't even finished the article yet! Resilience Isn't Magic--It's Work www.sparkpeople.com/resource

n_articles.asp?id=2611

Only 2 pages, they debunk myths about resilience, refer to science of the brain, and had this quote to share "the more a habit is practiced, the more we create a new tendency for our behaviors." Now I'll go read the rest of the article! emoticon

I've been trying new workouts to stay active, and was intrigued by a related one out to the right on YouTube. When it showed up on my recommended offerings on the TV today, I tried it and fell in love with these gentle, energizing, balancing movements.
Daily Qigong Routine, Yoqi Yoga & Qigong 17:08

Let myself get upset earlier this afternoon, so was interested to see this one when I thought I might repeat that intro routine: Qigong Mood Lifter 15:39

Just as pleasant & lovely and calming. I highly recommend trying these to combat stress!

I love that you created this thread, Eva! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
The timing on getting this in my work email was true serendipity, and many suggestions apply to more than just people now telecommuting:

It's long, but there are some great ideas here from King County’s wellness program, Balanced You, on rethinking self-care during the CV crisis. (I think I deleted all the county employee-specific referrals.)

Self-care tips for telecommuters during the coronavirus response

Maintain boundaries between work and home life
As work and home environments merge, boundaries between work and life can become blurred. Unplugging is an important strategy for reducing burnout. To unplug as a remote worker:
• Set up a physical office space that you can sit in when the workday begins and leave when the workday ends. Close your laptop at the end of the workday and leave it in your workspace.
• Remember to take scheduled breaks, including meals, away from your home office space.
• If you still struggle with turning off work at the end of the day, try walking into your home’s front door when the day begins and out when it ends, or dressing in work clothes during work hours.
Focus on your physical health
A sudden switch to a telecommuting schedule can throw off your food and exercise routine. Additionally, many people are now staying inside to reduce their risk of exposure to the coronavirus. To support your physical health:
• Try an at-home yoga or exercise video. Many can be found free-of-charge on websites such as http://www.youtube.com.
• If you are able, make some of your meetings walking meetings so you can get outside in your neighborhood while you are on conference calls.
• Remember posture and ergonomics. Couches may feel comfortable at first, but will take their toll after several hours.
• Plan mealtimes, have healthy food available, and hydrate often. This will keep you from mindlessly snacking.
• Practice good sleep hygiene. Set a regular sleep schedule, 7-9 hours per night.
Take time to socialize
When you work remotely, you miss out on the social interaction that happens in the office. Now is the time to intentionally create a plan for continued socializing. To stay connected:
• Spend time at home with family. Try a new game, build a puzzle, share a meal, or watch a movie.
• Talk on the phone or video chat with friends and loved ones.
• Transition work meetings from phone to video chat.
• If you have a pet, take time to play with and care for them.
Nurture your mental health
A virus outbreak can increase everyone’s stress levels. It is important that you are mindful of supporting your mental health during this time. To reduce stress:
• Take a break from the news cycle. Consider journaling, reading, or watching something funny instead.
• Maximize your focus. Regular telecommuters often cite focus as a major source of stress when they are first getting started. Pay attention to when your focus is strong during the day and plan your work accordingly.
• Practice a short meditation, listen to soothing music, or learn Desk Yoga stretches you can do almost anywhere.
• Try therapy via telehealth. Many therapists offer therapy sessions over-the-phone if you are unable to attend in-person. If you already have a regular therapist, ask if this option is available. If you don’t have a therapist yet and would like one, check with your insurance provider.

Blessed Be, Amanda

With Covid-19 causing the world to shudder its doors some of us may be feeling anxiety and fear. One part of a healthy body is learning to manage fear and anxiety without turning to the pantry. This is a moment, worldwide, where we all need a little stress management.

I'm asking you to share your tips on how you manage anxiety. Do you have a favorite mantra or meditation app? A favorite guided meditation on Youtube? a favorite exercise or yoga routine that helps mitigate stress? An article you've found that gave you information you think others here could use?

If so please share. You never know when you'll be helping a fellow goddess out.
