In my decluttering, I came across a small bag of tumbled crystals I bought for the pretty colors--and maybe their meanings, but I had nothing to identify them. A gorgeous dark pink crystal (not a milky, light pink rose quartz) especially appealed, so I've been hunting online for what it might be. I think it's rhodochrosite, given the deep (clear) raspberry color. In looking for information for this crystal, I stumbled on a site I'm not familiar with with oodles of info--scientific, historical and spiritual. Re my yoga for beginners and wrist issues post in the Maiden exercise thread:

Well, I Googled "modifications for exercises" and from the offered list picked "with bad wrists." (I saw bad knees, bad back, and other body parts I didn't note specifically.) There were several promising links that popped up. I tried the Silver Sneakers one, and it was a gold mine!

I was checking eligibility for Silver Sneakers, since it looked like a promising site, but the last step asked for my email and phone number, and when I checked the privacy policy link, I couldn't tell what kind of "promotion and advertising" lists I might get on, so I didn't complete it. I've been getting Medicare "information" and offers from all sorts of groups. I've even been leery of joining AARP, since I'm not eager to be further inundated with more stuff from "partners." Any thoughts or experience with either group anyone?

As a Yoga buff I love that it discusses the ability to do the splits is not a marker of true flexibility. I'm remarkably flexible according to my physical therapist a few years ago, but I can not do a split.

This is the link to page 2 which was most interesting to me. Page 1 talks about sleep & stress, which I do pretty well on, though they can be major issues for some, plus getting older--can't do much to change that one! But digestion and probiotics may encourage a few diet tweaks for me, and the last 2 will hopefully strengthen my resolve to be more consistent with ST, and raise intensity more often. No plans to become extreme in workouts, but I can challenge myself a bit more.

I appreciated her final comment "If you're living a healthy lifestyle overall, that little bit of belly fat shouldn't get to your head."

I especially like the final point: Redirect Negative Energy into Positive Movement

"Every time you get the urge to complain, redirect it into a physical activity that gets you closer to your ultimate goal. This could be a quick walk around the block or office, a short session of stretching or yoga, or a few push-ups or sit-ups. The key is to get into the habit of diverting would-be whining into a calorie-burning, self-affirming activity." It reminds me of my SWAB routine (switch armband), where you catch a thought you don't want to dwell on, and consciously make a change or take an action to symbolically shift your perspective.
