Explanation
Sedentary individuals have a higher risk for hypertension than individuals who are active. Regular exercise can lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. However, if you are overweight, your risk of developing high blood pressure is two to six times higher.

The heavy thing I'm lifting and lowering is just me, but with a few exceptions, that's still plenty challenging for me. Squats, pushups and planks today. Anybody have a good biceps move that is body weight?

Instead of getting on the floor, put your hands on a Countertop or secure bench. Step back so that you are in a Plank or Push Ups position and do your push ups from the elevated position.
I've also done push ups by putting my hands on the Handicap Bar in the bathroom stall at the gym. Just Be Careful that you don't Bonk Your Head on the Wall, LOL!!

emoticon I use only 3 lb. weights to start, I am moving to my own pace, and taking it very slow, as I have bad arthritis in all my joints. I try to get in at least 10 minutes a day, twice a day, when I am up to it.

emoticon Technically, I Can do "Real" or "Boy" Push Ups but they are {in my opinion} Very Shallow. For this Challenge, I am starting with doing "Deep Push Ups" using the Countertop.
emoticon So far today, I've done 2 Sets of 10 Countertop Push Ups. Definitely Feeling That, LOL!!

The effects of losing muscle mass include a decrease in strength, greater susceptibility to injury, and an increase in body fat. The good news, however, is regular exercise enlarges muscle fibers and will help stave off the decline by increasing the strength of the muscle you have left. In fact, in many cases, strength training has been proven to reverse the loss of muscle mass and bone density due to aging.

Explanation:
Without consistent strength training, muscle size and strength decline with age. An inactive person loses 1/2 pound of muscle per year after age 20. After age 60, this rate of loss doubles. But, muscle loss is not inevitable. With regular strength training, muscle mass can be preserved throughout the lifespan, and the muscle lost can be rebuilt.
