Thanks APRILD2013 I just cheered you again! Ha! I don't wear mine all the time so although I'm losing out a few hundred feet but try to make it up when I go walking. Usually in the afternoons. Yesterday I was walking and hubby just got home and saw me. He parked his car and joined me. I tried to convince him to wear his tennis shoes but he kept pushing me to walk faster. OMG! I was so sore because I kept trying to catch up with him.
And you should be able to see my friends so please add them as many as you like. They'll be very happy to have more competition. You're right about feeling better. Starting is kind of hard for me but once around the block and I'm good to go. Although I'm sore but it's good sore and I do feel great too. And when I wake up in the morning, my stomach feels empty like it's been working out during sleep time. It is a great feeling.

Good for you Sparkydust! :) like the Dedication!!

Hi LovelyPampa :) you sound like you are doing awesome!!! :) I am just fighting for 5 miles a day- some days i can get in 8 through daily chores etc with treadmill or outside walking....but it does keep you honest with yourself thats for sure lol the sleep portion was surprising for me...always thought I slept fairly well except I always felt sooo tired...well turns out the most sleep I get is 7 hours but then I am waking up anywhere from 4-12 times a night lol
HSN is how I got mine actually- didnt think to add that info on there for other people...duh! lol so thank you for adding that!!
The cheers and all the support definitely help to stay motivated as well as knowing that other people are tracking you too and giving you motivation :) I am glad you added me as I also need the support to keep truckin :)
The one thing that sticks with me is how good I feel after walking or just getting physical at all.....I have a sit down desk job so not a whole lot of movement there lol
Wishing you luck :) but I dont think you will need it- you look like you are doing an awesome job!!! :)

Hi APRILD2013

I also have Fitbit one which I just started using and this is my 3rd week. OMG! I am so sore as I'm trying to push myself. 1st week was ok just starting out. 2nd wk I wasn't sure what goals to do so I'd set mine at 8K avg. I did 4 days of a little over 10K. I also did a blog on it. Lol. And then this wk I'd set my goals at 10K. Like I said, I'm just starting out and wish me luck.
We're on the same Fitbit team and I just added you as a Fitbit friend. I love all the cheers I'm getting from that team which makes me want to keep walking. Yeah!

If anyone else is interested with Fitbit, I just found out thanks to our members that HSN has a flex plan 4x monthly and is selling Fitbit. Extra 15% if you're a new member. Also if you have Discover Card you can see which retail stores sell Fitbit and use Discover Card's rewards points. Find out if your credit card has any rewards points if you don't have discover.

Just a side note: Even though I do get excited about Fitbit, any pedometers will do just fine. Just make sure you record your steps or miles and keep pushing your record. I'm all for it if we need to challenge ourselves and include on the message board. Good Luck!

So far I'm at 14,351 but I still have to walk the dog. I normally get 12,500 three-four times a week. It really depends...

I quickly looked for pedometer apps for my I-phone but ended up dusting off my old pedometer.

Today (4/1) we took a trip to the Science Museum then later I went to our health club and spent 20 minutes on the stair climber and 30 minutes on the elliptical.

All that and I reached 10,474 steps. When I go back to work after Spring Break, I do not know how I would get 10,000 steps in a day.

I'll have to be creative.

Good Luck to Everyone!

I am aboard- I have heard though that you should give yourself a break between workouts that test your muscles- do you all take a break in between these 10k steps or just get steps in but take it easier on the days in between?

I have not quite hit the 10,000 yet - but I have gone way up from an average of about 2,000/day to about 5,000/day since the January 1st.

The app I chose based on reviews was Accupedo. I know there are others depending on what phone system you have.

Good Luck to everyone! I am also trying to get as many steps in a day as I can. I have a pedometer however it doesn't always count accurately. I'm interested in hearing about this phone app. I looked and didn't see how this works.

Best wishes to everyone !! NEW YEAR= NEW YOU!!

There is a step counter app I put on my phone. Not the most accurate but it motivates me to keep going. I am averaging 6-10,000 now. Keep on walking all.

I have a watch step counter but I find that it counts when I move my arms so not sure it is that accurate.

I'm also trying to walk at least 10,000 steps a day! I love my pedometer but some days it just seems impossible to get those 10,000 steps in! I'm going to try though!!
Good luck to you!

I can't always stay motivated to do some of the exercises on a list, but I'm always walking, whether it is housework or shopping or work. I think if I keep track of my steps, then increase my walking on days I don't work. Hoping this will also give me more energy.

I'm hoping that keeping track of my daily activity and food, this time my goal will be within reach. Starting with small goals. One month at a time.

I will join you in that personal challenge. Family is coming for the holidays so it will be a bit challenging but I'm up for a good challenge.
