I admit, I've been pretty inconsistent with it. We are all horrible and should be lashed to the mast.....I did mine Monday but haven't yet today. Got called into work early and went with BF to morning appointment. I will try to do it when I get home

Okay, yesterday I did Iron Core DVD #1. Skipped the one legged balancing exercise because of lousy balance & the very last segment featuring crunches. So, about 40 minutes total.

Thank you for sharing the web info, I liked it a lot. I like that she was using the movie clip of Legally Blonds the bends and snap analogy. That's was so cool. And the successful swinger's video shots are very clean form.

Yay, I managed to finish all 45 minutes of the Iron Core DVDs! Without messing up my hip! I also found an article with a great little video showing the diff between a "meh" swing and a good swing.

Glad everyone seems to enjoying, kettlebell work out. I finally got my " iron core KB work out DVD. I haven't tried yet. But so excited. Will try tomorrow. Yay !!

I lied. I ended up doing Paul Katami's kb DVD again. 26 minutes including warm up and cool down. 15 pound kb for the first 10 minutes, then had to switch to a ten pounder. I hope to get through without stopping! But it didn't happen this time.

I did take a look at his core routine today. It's mostly crunches combined with the kb (you could use a dumbbell instead), and some of his moves are positively *evil*, I tell you! ;-)

How is everyone doing.in the challenge? My first week is down as I'm doing my kettlebell on Mon,Wed and Fri..I know that prevention workout is really good..gives you a good workout but I really enjoy it... It's a good kick your butt lol lol...WTG ladies...let's rest up over the weekend and come back strong for week two

I've been using Paul Katami's beginner kb DVD, but I have to say, I wonder where he got his accreditation from. He's a good instructor for sure, but his combination moves seem a little unsafe if you use a heavier kb. Why? Well, he has you time your swing as you close and open your legs. As the kb swings up you move from a chair squat to a closed leg standing position, and back to a squat as the kb swings down. I don't want to mistime this movement & kneecap myself (or break a shin bone) by mistake!

So instead of following this move, I did regular swings, both one and two handed.

I realize that his DVDs get rave reviews here and at Collage, but if you're looking to genuinely increase you strength & use heavier kb's eventually, I recommend checking out Dragon Door.com and the information they've got there.

Next time I'll rotate to Sarah Lurie's Iron Core.

Hi, I am here to challenge myself for kettlebell challenge. Now I've got kettlebell. I just need to work on it. I will challenge week by week to see how am I doing. Here is my first week

Jan 14th- Jan 20th

Mon....Treadmill 3mil. emoticon kettelbell 5lb and 10lb for 15min emoticon
Tue....Treadmill 3.5 mil in the morning, and at night Treadmill again 2.5 mile.
Wed...Treadmill 4mil emoticon kettelbell 10lb for 10min emoticon
Thurs..Kathy Smith Kettelbell work out DVD. 45min. emoticon 5lb, 10lb
Fri......I over exercise yesterday and took day off today. :(
Sat....Treadmill 2mil. ST trainig with dumbell No kettelbell today.
Sun...

I hate Paul Katami. Oh yes. Yes, I do. It was the *beginner* workout DVD I did, all 26 minutes, and I had to stop 10 minutes in, then ten minutes after that, and then it ended six minutes after that. Not only that, I was only using an 8 pound KB. grrr (at myself)

Once I can handle the cardio part better, I'll increase to a heavier weight.

I'll edit in the tracker to this post in a little bit. I'll need my daughter's help to make sure I measure correctly.

Jan 13th-19th
Mon....26 minutes (workout one on Paul Katami's Kettlebell for Beginners) 8 lb kb. Let's see, also did 30 minutes of a yoga/pilates stretch DVD, and after KBing, I did an Accelerated Pilates DVD which *painfully* kicked my butt muscles so that I had to pause and do some yoga pigeon poses to loosen those butt muscles up again. Ouchie!

Tues....Did nothing because my BUTT hurt so much AND both kids came down with the flu.

Wed......Once again, didn't work out. Have decided never again to do Pilates after KBs because it's hard on those butt muscles.

Thurs....Daughter home with the flu. Son home with second day of two day headache. Butt muscles have recovered. Did 26 minutes of KB followed by 30 minutes of stretching. I rock! PS used a ten pound kb. Have decided I need genuine metal kb's because these Tone Fitness (Danskin?) brand KBs suck big time.

Fri........nothin' yet. Just ate two slices of "Is this take-out?""No, it's DiGiorno!" Pizza so if I do anything today, it'll be later. (sure,sure)

Ok ladies here's a simple tracker to copy add paste just to track for the challenge. No set days to do the kettlebell training except to do it three days and cardio 4 days. I would recommend to do it with a rest day in between each session of kettlebell as to not overhaust your muscle. Weight and measurements are optional but just think it helps if you only lose 5lbs but lose 8inches all over. Totally up to you..thanks for joining me in the challenge. This is going to be fun.

Mickey, use the lighter weights to get your form down as perfect as you ca get it. Then move up as you get a feel for the swings and moves.

Thanks Mary !! That's a good idea. I'm in from Jan 14 kettlebell challenge. I am excited and can't wait. But I am afraid that my kettlebell might be too light weight for me.? Mine is 3lb and 5 lb. Dont know for sure but I guess that's a good start for me. Thanks for the web info as well.

Glad you ladies are excited bout doing the kettlebell challenge..woohoo..time to drop some lbs and sculpt some muscle which helps aid in weightloss.. Any questions post them here.. I'm gonna try to post a tracker thread for you to copy and paste here so we can track here together. Hi all, Today I found a great fitness gadgets and equipment sales on Kmart online. I think lots of people make a new year resolutions to be fit in 2013. And most of retail store are having a fitness sales beginning of the year. (I guess) So I went there and got myself a kettlebell.

Strength training is not my favorite exercise. One of my goal of 2013 to work on that part. So I was very happy when I found it on sale for 50% off the price. It come with 3lb and 5lb kettlebell with work out DVD. Hope this will help me with my not so great strength training. I am so excited to try tomorrow.

How many pounds is your kettlebell? I tried a kettlebell workout using a 15 pounder and thought I was going to hurt myself! (Actually, my back bothered me for days, but I was mostly worried about swinging the thing around!) I just ordered a 10 pound kettlebell - I hope that will be a bit easier and will allow me to participate in the challenge!

I'm starting a kettlebell challenge on Jan 14th . It's for 3wks so it ends Feb 2nd. It's ST for 3 days incorporated with cardio.. I've done it before and loved it.. Here's the link:
