It doesn't sound pathetic at all IMGONNADOIT, I understand I only have a couple of friends here on Spark People but they are very encouraging. I think that your name says it all, IM GONNA DO IT! don't give up, as there are people on this site that will friend you and encourage you, but most of all you need that not give up attitude in yourself, at least that's what I've found. Good luck!

OK, this is going to sound pathetic but I don't have many friends here. i've been on Spark for a while and just feel like I'm not getting as much out of it as I should be. What I do gain from the site is all from the daily postings on the start page, etc. I need some motivation and support from others who are doing the same thing. One of my BFs (outside of spark) is very supportive but very skinny and the other is very overweight and has given up. Maybe I'm just feeling sorry for myself and whining, SORRY!!!

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to try the music and drinking more water. I have been moving around a lot more but not real exercise. I will also try picking up my pace for short intervals.

Carol,Listening to upbeat music stimulates an automatic response in the body and mind, and before you know it, things start to look different. Also, keep walking, but try picking up your pace for 60 seconds here and there; interval workouts burn more calories. Drink plenty of water...and try jumping jacks! it's very energizing.

I just have no motivation right now. I've been getting a 10-15 minute walk in everyday but before my DVD player broke (which a friend replaced) I was doing 18 minutes of low impact aerobics as well as a 10-15 minute walk everyday. Now I just can't seem to get motivated to do anything but my walking and I'm just not burning enough calories. Any encouraging words would be great right now.

Thanks for all the kind words. I managed to take a brief nap this afternoon, which helped a little, and the dog was so happy with the short walk--and the ham bone I gave her from making 15 Bean Soup at 5:30am when I couldn't sleep. She's a friend for life now!

Absolutely right about taking it a bit at a time. This year I've been thinking about turning 45, and how I'd like the next 45 years to be. Or about how much weight I could lose and how far I could run 45 days from now. But sometimes, focusing on the next 45 minutes is plenty.

And I love that emoticon--reminds me of jumping on a trampoline when I was a kid!

Hi! I'm thinking you already did good by "putting yourself out there." If one day at a time is too much right now, how about an hour at a time? . Sounds to me like you have made healthy choices by still committing to some form of exercise by walking the dog. You could have just buried your head under the covers and prayed for some much needed sleep but....you didn't emoticon

well I'm a bit down in the dumps too, but lifes how you make it. I got out this morning & went for a walk in the park then raked the leaves in the front yard.
Yesterday I got some veggies at the new fruit stand around the corner from home & going to make now kale crisps. Wonder how the kids & husband will take to it!! ha ha.
have a nice rest of day!

This week has been hard, emotionally, so I'm relying on SP examples of making through tough times. It's helping me hang in there so far, even though my mood is as blah as the grey, rainy weather. Haven't been able to sleep much the past 3 nights. I had a good workout yesterday, but today I might just walk my friend's dog and leave it at that. Haven't gone overboard on calories--I tend to lose my appetite when I'm stressed.

I'm signed up for a 5K on Saturday, and I've been planning to run half of it. I think I can...If I can get some sleep first!

Encouragement of any kind would be appreciated!
