I just want to SHOUT OUT to those who have been cheering me and taunting me on Fitbit to push myself. There's a few of you that I really get scared and start putting my shoes on right away. Oh you know it's a compliment and you know you love it and I love it. Haha!
So don't stop and keep doing it as it's really helping me during this crazy humid weather. I also want to be lazy although I really don't need to be so I'll keep on stepping as I feel much better afterwards.

Marci, all I can say since you already purchased your Fitbit that your life is about to change next week after it arrives. And get ready for sore muscles and wanting to sleep earlier than your scheduled time. Well, at least in the beginning because you're already used to walking. I would love to be in the challenge so send me your url or just send me an email once you set it up. Setting up is super easy. I have Fitbit One. What kind did you get?

Hi Everyone! I would love to join your challenge! I just ordered my FitBit and it should arrive Monday. I have been walking around the neighborhood but tend to stick to the same route each day since I have driven it and know how far it is. This will let me explore new routes and mix it up a bit- I love a good challenge!

Hi, I have only recently started increasing my walking. Did 4 miles yesterday and again today (I did it today before work---haven't done a pre-work workout since the fall!). Need to purchase a pedometer to track steps but my mph was 4.6. My goal is to do this 3-4 days each week.

I managed to get 3813 steps yesterday, just walking around the office, parking farther away, doing 10 minute walks...it adds up quickly! Imagine if I had gone and used the treadmill or if I had taken a longer walk!!!

A very good question, Lucy. First you have to have a goal. In order to accomplish your goal, you must have motivation and determination. In the beginning I didn't have a goal. I was just surviving to see how far I could go. Once I reached (my) max level, I kept increasing the steps. Then I set my goal at 8500 steps because I couldn't do it. Then once I accomplished that, I made another goal to 10,000 steps.
Motivation is your family and friends. So now comes down to determination. For me it's not just relaxed walking. My walks are like I'm on a mission or heading to TB (I used to love Taco Bell) or ready to catch a train or a bus. And walking with determination gives me positive attitude and knowing I can do it.

Jolene, I had a hard time doing even 7,000 steps about a little over a month ago. (For reals..lol) And last week I was about 10 friends from you and today I'm right next to you. WooHoo! By the way, it's after 11pm and I saw how you sneaked up past me. I'm shaking my head.
See Lucy, that's where the determination also comes. Sometimes steps don't matter. You see your friend pass you and you're determined to pass them too since she's in my time zone. I love it.

I sit all day too, but I make sure to get up at least once an hour to stretch and walk the hall...in addition to bathroom breaks. I also park further away.

I think it all adds up during the day as long as we get up and move.

Hi Lucy.... first 7000 is nothing to complain about!
It's not easy to get to 10K. I have an office job, work 10 hrs and drive an hour each way. So lots of sitting. I am fortunate that the building I work at is big. There are may things I need to physically look at so I always try to be the one who goes to rather than they come to me. I also partnered up with a couple of women at work and we take a quick walk right after lunch about 10.min, I drink a lot of water and will only use the bathroom that is at the other end of the building. Every time I "go" its like 150 steps, and I drink ALOT of water. With all that and my morning walks with the dog I get there. It's much harder on the weekends. I haven't really hit it yet. I'm trying emoticon
Just try and squeeze as many in as you can. They all add up!!!!! emoticon

I don't understand how you can walk 10,000 steps in one day. Not HOW you can walk it but how is it possible to walk that much? emoticon I sit behind a desk most days and on the days when I can actually get up and get around, even with my exercising, I might hit 7,000 steps. emoticon I've never been able to get any higher.

Hey all...hope everyone is well. Found out my little cold is bronchitis. I am not able to exercise much right now, but I did get a 10min walk in before having to rest. I'm doing everything I can to eat healthy....and drinking tons of water.

There's no shame in this. No way. Raspberries has nice proteins and strawberries too are both healthy fruits. Now I'm a little intrigued by the 'adult' part in this smoothie but popcorn. As long as it's the healthier kind (no? It's ok). That was yesterday. Today's going to be an awesome day. Even if you didn't get a chance to walk, body will continue to burn calories and increase metabolism. Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy it and just relax as we'll all be on track next week. : )

I didn't walk last night. My husband set up a carpool and he drove our half of it. I ended up making an adult smoothie with some local raspberries and strawberries that wern't going to make it until morning. I also made a bag of popcorn.

I agree. Today was my strength day with Bikini Mama. I did that before my shower. Then I had to take my car in for service and they said 45 minutes. So my son and I walked over to Target, just under a mile away, wandered around the store, and walked back. I hit 5000 steps before lunch. Then tonight, my son has soccer practice, so I will probably go for another walk. No promises, but there's a little birdie inside my head that will probably gently suggest I use my opportunity to walk some more...

JOJOSLIVIN emoticon to our team. It looks like your SparkPage isn't setup yet. Please also take a moment to introduce yourself to our awesome team here as we have wonderful proactive members. We're all in this together to lose weight, eat healthier, maintain that weight, and have fun at the same time. Since I can't see your page, there's a Fitbit team with our SparkPeople. Syncing is very easy. And there's a nice reward of extra spark points for joining. I'll have to find and get back to you. And you'll join our team goal as well? : )

Hi,

I have had the Fitbit for about 3 years and LOVE it. That is when I use it. Just got back on track and have been using it daily. Wow I can totally tell the days I need to move more. I highly recommend as it is much more discreet than other items. But it is costly if you do not use it regularly.
LovelyPampa - Can you tell me how to sync to spark people?

Thank you in advance!

OMG! ASPEN2013 you're life is about to change. Look on my teams under Fitbit Team on my SparkPage. I have Fitbit One also and read my only blog on Fitbit. With Fitbit One, it'll automatically sync your steps every 15min within 15ft and also automatically syncs to our SparkPeople Fitness workout. I'll send you my url number. So you'll be competing with both teams! Isn't that great!! Double the pleasure! But please take it easy as I'm learning now. My calves got messed up and took me almost a week to revive them back to normal. I was walking around funny and thank goodness hubby didn't laugh. Believe me I can tell after being married so many years but he's very supportive and surprises me every time. (Hope he keeps it up.)

And WAN2BMED saw your status too. Sorry about that. Neither is it Monday Blue or you're burning out. Do you have enough protein in your body? First things first, determine your nutritional values and make improvements based on your values. Even if you think it's perfect, changing or altering the diet makes a lot of difference as our bodies get bored eating the same old thing. I know you by now that you don't get on the scale that much. Is that day coming sooner where you'll be stepping on the scale? Could that be worrying you? Or are you subconsciously worried about something but just don't know what it is?

If it's neither of the above, day's almost over. Just don't worry so much and just a hunch but maybe consider taking vitamin D3. Don't know what it is, you're doc will and can give you with a test exact results. Just a hunch, you working out 6x per wk plus your job, plus sleep. No time being outside. And with Vit D3 it's not just the sun or the milk, my friend. Talk to your doc and be surprised.

Dig out that pedometer, Sara!

Jana, few days is long ways. In the meantime, if you know you're miles or find miles in our Map your miles in our Fitness workout, estimate it. A mile is over 2,000 steps. Over how much depends on each person's steps. Good Luck

Thanks, ASPEN2013! Please join us. Please let me know if you need any help.

My pedometer batteries are dead. I ordered and they should arrive in several days. I will walk anyway, even though I won't know how many steps it is!

There was a teacher asked his students how do you eat the whole cow? No one could answer the questions. Teacher told his students, one small piece at a time. Exercise or loosing weight is same concept. We start one small steps at a time too. Once when we feel like we can over come the obstacle that we thought we couldn't before we can tackle any thing once we are at some point.
So totally agree with your point of view Lovelypampa emoticon

So you don't enjoy walking and you certainly don't care but deep down you think you should or need to walk more.

Now you have the opportunity to compete with our own team. I've just added a new Team Goal 'walk 5,000 steps per day'. Click on it and you'll see who walks daily and 3 top leaders of our team who have the most steps monthly. Don't believe me? Click further on the 'View Full Leaderboard'

A month ago I tested and barely did 3,000 steps before I got tired or bored or felt others watching me. I started walking on the treadmill before I started walking outdoors. It's only been a month and most of my steps are from outdoors. Now I walk outdoors like I'm on a special mission and totally forget who look in my direction. I bet you when they're looking over here they're thinking 'Wish I could walk like that too!' My scale started to move and more so this week even though I didn't do that many steps. I feel much healthier and a lot more motivated. I feel younger too! It's only been a month. Gotta keep going!

So rather than look for an excuse, look for a pedometer. I have Fitbit but it's pricey and our team goal doesn't require a fancy pedometer. Walk indoors, walk in the mall, walk at home, walk outside, walk on the treadmill, or walk your dog. Walk every time you commented on a blog. Walk double if you added a friend. (You want me to keep going? Lol)

This is only the beginning of the month. Just imagine if you challenged yourself with us for an entire month. Not only will you become healthier but your scale will also start to move. What have you got to lose? Join Us!!
emoticon emoticon yourself! emoticon emoticon

emoticon For those who are not able to walk, please check with your doctor first.****
