Our travel theme - Blue Zones - Hotspots for Longevity

Our Living the Good Life (LTGL) theme - Healthy Lifestyle Changes

The Blue Zone is a concept used to identify a demographic and/or geographic area of the world where people live measurably longer and healthier lives, well past 100 years. We will find out how, where and why.

Many of us judge our progress solely on the numbers reflected on the scale. If it doesn't go down, to be honest we get discouraged. This kind of thinking shows we still look at this journey as a 'diet' rather than a Lifestyle Change.

Lifestyle changes become a natural part of your routine. People who maintain their weight loss over a several-year period have made true lifestyle changes. You don't have to be perfect just consistent enough to have a healthy balance.

The most effective way to create a habit is to set goals and take action toward those goals over and over until that action feels like a normal part of your routine. Focus on the areas of your diet and exercise that can use some tuning up, then decide what youíre going to change, and make that change each day. Also lifestyle changes must be things you can do on your own. For example when you know how to plan your healthy meals you can do that anytime and anywhere.

As we do the Weekly Living the Good Life Challenges (LTGL) let's make them permanent good habits. As we learn here at Spark, it takes consistent work to become healthier; and as a Team we can do this. We will focus on exercise, diet, healthful habits, team support and positive thinking. For 56 days we will work the Spark Program together and get the results we deserve.

Remember, even simple, small changes can make a big difference in living a better life. Take small steps and dream big. Every long journey begins with a single step!

We have a number of Members new to Spark and or the 5% Challenge. If you have questions along the way, please post on your Team Discussion Boards or send a Spark Mail to your Team Leaders. Experienced team members will help you too.

Some of the Challenges may be things you are already doing and you are to be commended, it will be easy for you to contribute points to your team. For some of us, these Challenges really will challenge us as we work on developing healthy new habits. Stay positive about accepting the Challenges. Our last weigh in will be Saturday, June 1, 2019.

Although the LTGL Challenge changes weekly, Challengers are encouraged to do their best to continue each challenge throughout the entire 8 weeks. It's not about going from one healthy change to another, but more about making the healthy change a forever habit.

We ask that while you do the Weekly Challenge, you add the 5 Living the Good Life Challenges (as they are added) then you can track them. You will add it from the Community Team Goal at the bottom of this page. Do your best to continue doing it throughout the entire 8 week Challenge. Fun fact, we have members still tracking from challenges 7 years ago! There are no additional points for adding the goal; it's just something to help us reinforce our good habits. ADDING THE GOAL IS OPTIONAL!
