Hi, my name is Sheila and..I was first diagnosed with lymphoma in my spleen in 2009. I thank God every day for my family dr who sent me for a CT scan when I complained of severe stomach pain. I was then sent to my wonderful hemotologist who did a bone marrow biopsy and then informed me that I would need some chemotherapy. Surprisingly, what hit me the hardest was knowing that I would lose my hair....after telling my mother years ago when she went through the same thing, that it "was only hair". I had 4 chemotherapy treatments...spread far apart due to my white blood cell count going too low and, of course lost my hair. My hair came back but, unfortunately, in 2013, so did the cancer. I then was told that my spleen would have to come out. I underwent the spleen removal surgery and have done well since but, the chemo did lots of other damage to my body, such as putting an extra 50 lbs on and..damage to my knees and cataracts on my eyes. I had a total left knee replacement almost 2 years ago and am still trying to get rid of a blood clot from that surgery. So...now I have begun the battle of taking my extra weight back off.......:)
