Copy the tracker, read the instructions in the previous post and let's get started!! Post your miles for the day and update your mileage totals on our special group thread. Add your miles each time you walk for fitness.

The average person's stride length is approximately 2.5 feet long. That means it takes just over 2,000 steps to walk one mile, and 10,000 steps is close to 5 miles.

The Boston Marathon Challenge a month-long event to honor the Boston Marathon runners of the past and future.

You will complete a total of 31 miles (more than a marathon!) if you walk a mile every day during August. Walk at least 26.2 miles during August. Any combination of miles will work - just reach a minimum of 26.2 miles during the 31-day event to stand on this finishers' podium!

Gold medal winners
Complete 78.6 miles (3 times 26.2 miles) between August 1 and August 31.

Silver medal winners
Complete 52.4 miles (2 times 26.2 miles) between August 1 and August 31.

Bronze medal winners
Complete 26.2 miles between August 1 and August 31.

The 124th running of the Boston Marathon is postponed until September 14. The race would have been on April 20, 2020.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), coordinating with state and municipal officials, supports the importance of taking measures to safeguard the health of the public in consideration of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The only other time it was not held as usual was in 1918 during World War 1 when a military relay was organized.

Race day is always scheduled for Patriots' Day, the third Monday in April, a holiday only recognized in Massachusetts and Maine commemorating battles at the start of the Revolutionary War. The Boston Marathon, the oldest annual marathon in the world, was founded in 1897 by the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.). The number of participants has grown from a mere 18 men in 1897 to over 25,000 racers every year.

The Boston Marathon course is 26 MILES, 385 YARDS (42.195 KILOMETERS) long from the start at Hopkinton to the finish line in Boston on Boylston Street in front of the Boston Public Library.

Post your miles for the day and update your mileage totals on our special group thread. Add your miles each time you walk for fitness.

The average person's stride length is approximately 2.5 feet long. That means it takes just over 2,000 steps to walk one mile, and 10,000 steps is close to 5 miles.
