I think we are well home now, well done everyone especially Raffie.
It's probably best if we finish this challenge now but I'll start another new challenge & we'll just add our minutes for each month until we get Faith back, then we can think of another one.

Sorry to hear that you are taking a break Faith but I totally understand. Maybe we'll see you back at some point though.

My exercise today is:
Cycling 53 minutes
Dog walking 90 minutes

So that is 143 minutes for the day.
Can we see your house yet Jude?

Sorry to hear you'll be taking a break Faith but I totally understand. I think once we get back to earth, as it will just be Raffie & myself left, we might take a break from challenges ourselves. Maybe when you get back we'll think up another one.

I think we'll get home today! I plan to walk to Blackheath to buy 4 pints of milk, and maybe get the bus back - and do some work in the garden.

However, I'm really sorry to say this, but I need to take a Spark Break. The problem for me is my addictive personality which means that, once I get on the computer I stay for hours, and it means that some important things don't get done. I've tried cutting back but I just get sucked in again, so I'm coming off at least for a while.

I'm assuming we'll get back to earth today so I won't spend the rest of my life in orbit, so I'll probably post today's exercise unless Raffie gets there first.

God bless

Well done Raffie. I wasn't sure whether to give you the 10 minutes for feeling very smug - so I gave you half!!

I did an hour's gardening - I counted it all as I was lugging planters around, sweeping and generally being more energetic than just walking - and also because I ate too many biscuits so wanted it to look not quite so bad on my tracker if I had more exercise to track. I also went to play at the gym for an hour. Are you suitably impressed?

Judy 255 minutes Total 1365 minutes
Raffie 215 minutes Total 7893 minutes
Faith 120 minutes Total 2972 minutes

Total 12230 minutes.

To the moon and back = 12,330 minutes
100 minutes to go.

emoticon

So what are we going to do after this adventure?

Hi everyone
210 of walking about today, at work.

I am tired now, busy day. Only one snotty child customer, who's mother gave him a proper clip round the ear for his language. Very gratifying. Does 10 minutes of feeling very smug count as exercise? emoticon

Thanks Faith. Not sure what will be the reward, maybe a 'putty medal'.

I've been thinking about the next challenge and I don't think I would be able to ever fulfil my quota being 62 almost 63 in a couple of weeks, only able to do 2 to 4 hours exercise in a week or 4 to 5 miles. Sorry!

Sounds good to me Raffie - but how long do we have to do the challenge? I can see you as the youngster here being finished and kicking your heels while Judy and I stagger home! I think I might have missed something about your gate being at the bus terminus!!

Morning.
Fetched gate from bus terminus - 2 minutes
Dog walking 60 minutes
Bike riding 107 minutes

Soooo, 169 minutes for me today emoticon

I have had an idea for our next challenge.
The yanks have a cycling challenge in their bike shops of RYA or, as we say in English, Ride your age. The idea is to ride (or exercise in our case) for 1 hour for every year of your life.
I'm nice and easy at 53, but I thought, that when we get back to whichever English space landing site we end up at, that we could give that a go. Anything over an hour, still counts as one hour, according to the yank rules. The hour only counts if you do 60 minutes plus in one hit. If, like me, you clear off on your bike for 3 hours, it only counts as the one 'over and hour' exercise hit.
What do you think?

Very dull 60 minutes of dog walking today. To dang windy to ride. Not safe out there. I can hear it now, battering the windows. Bet my gate goes again.

Hmmm, well I just found out that it would take 91 days of continuous walking to walk all round the moon - so we maybe need a slightly bigger team to do that, and who knows who or what we might meet on the way? So maybe you're right Raffie.

By the way I'm off to Egypt for 8 days on Tuesday. I may not even have Internet access there (shame - because I have a streak of well over 500 days logging in to SP.) Anyway, If I don't come on here, you'll know my space ship landed somewhere in the desert. Maybe you could come looking for me?

Maybe we should go back to Earth or the Clangers might get funny with us and feed us to the soup dragon. I, for one, am slightly afraid of the Iron Chicken.

Today is 210 minutes of walking about and 106 minutes of cycling about.
Please add 316 minutes to wherever we are heading off to. I've had porridge today, just like Buzz Aldrin did, so we are all good.

Hi there
Yesterday was 180 minutes on my work day and our agreed use of half the minutes as it's generally not hard walking but just generally moving about.
I was going to ride but I dozed off on the sofa instead.
Eating has gone to pot but I'll start again on Monday when I'm not at work and shattered. Will try and be sensible in the meantime.

Please add 180 for me if you would xxx

Sorry guys, I've not been able to help out this week. Tuesday someone came to measure up for our guttering and as they were late turning up, by the time they left it was too late for me to get to the pool and today was the funeral of someone I used to know from Church.
Raffie, will you never cease to amaze me? Working full time and exercising with tinsilitis. If I had a hat, I'd take it off to you.
Well done to you too Faith.

Updating the minutes.
12/2/17 : 180 minutes of walking about - it was a work day so claiming half
13/2/17 : 330 minutes of walking about - another work day and a bit manic. There early to open and late finish to lock up.
14/2/17 : 210 mins of walking about. Work day plus dog walking.

Not updated for a couple of days. I have tonsillitis and I feel like hell. I got home and went straight to bed last night. Kenn produced some chips, which I ate and then went back to sleep. Bugger SW for a couple of days, I can't cope with meal planning, cooking or anything. I'm getting up, going to work, coming home and eating what's there and going to bed. Rinse and repeat. The doc can't see me until about March so there is no point waiting to see him, I'll be better and back on my bike by then.

Work day of 6.5 hours so I will claim 190 minutes of exercise. I was on 2 rides that were both pretty full on. When I wasn't giving rides I was cleaning bird poo. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

I got home and did a nice 10 mile ride so that's another 45 minutes. I went out like a dingbat but my brand new light, fully charged before anyone asks, went on low power after 5 miles and packed up entirely half a mile from home. Useless waste of 45 right there. It's going back to the shop tomorrow.

235 minutes to add for me please.
Work day tomorrow, indoors and in the warm. Yay.

Blessed are the cracked for it is those who let in the light.

Raffie you are so funny! I love the 'photo'

I've been to Worcester for the day to see an exhibition in the Cathedral. They have this amazing exhibition of tapestry depicting the events of the Book of Revelation in the Bible. It was brilliant! Anyway I'm claiming 90 minutes of not very fast walking for today. A bit more really but some of it was more of a slow shuffle so I haven't counted that.

Judy 130 minutes Total 585 minutes
Raffie 440 minutes Total 2739 minutes
Faith 90 minutes Total 1370 minutes

Total 4694 minutes.

Our journey there takes 6165 minutes

1471 minutes to go.

Yesterday, I would like to book 180 minutes as I was walking about at work, just not as much as Wednesday.
Today I would like to book 60 minutes walking and 200 minutes cycling as I've had a nice little 60km tootle in the sunshine.

That's 440 to be added please

I overtook some tourists and took a quick snap for your delight and amusement

50 minutes walking and playing at the gym yesterday. Today I walked for 2 hours in Dartmouth Park and Sandwell valley. It was so cold! We saw new born baby calves at Forge Mill Farm The first lamb was born there this morning as well - but it was tucked right up the corner and we couldn't see it.

Hiya

Yesterday there was about 45 minutes of dog walking and that was about it.

Today was first day back at work and I am claiming all of it, on account of the fact that I was walking around the park, swept out every ride hut and then back round the entire park putting in the cleaning kits. I had to keep going back to the top office because I cannot carry 14 rolls of kimwipe, 14 dustpans and brushes, 14 litres of sanitising spray, 14 cleaning kit holders and 14 yard brooms. We did 3 rides at a time!

So, 360 minutes of walking and then 65 minutes out on my bike as it was a nice evening. Kenn took a quick snap of me leaving for my ride.

Please add 470 minutes to our trip.
Are we nearly there yet?

Blessed are the cracked for it is those who let in the light.

Hi
Yesterday was 75 minutes of dog walking
Today I walked for 40 minutes and rode my bike for 31 minutes. It would have been longer but my bike light died. However, I did have time to take a quick selfie. Please note, I'm using my 'space bike' and not my beloved CX for the pic, in case it flies off somewhere.

Please add 146 minutes to our journey time.

Are we still logging work at half effort?
If so, 180 minutes at work (6 hours in actual fact) and 33 minutes on the bike - in the pouring rain, hail and (at one point) snow. It was all on the way home. Once the weather hit, we turned for home.
213, for me today then

I don't think I am particularly fit. I've put on a lot of weigh since living in Cornwall, can't wait to get back to the flatlands. I've been eating badly and I've lost a lot of fitness. I'm nearly as heavy as I was 2 years ago. I'm a stone lighter than when I started changing my lifestyle, but pretty miserable about my weight at the moment.

Still. 60 minutes walking today and 53 minutes cycling, 5 minutes working out (weights and planking) Shall I run about for 2 minutes to round it up to 2 hours :D

Nothing to worry about Jude. We're perfectly sane. It's the rest of them! Ooh we've all done well today but you both did better than me. I walked to Blackheath to get my passport forms checked (25 mins walk or just a bit more.) - only to find I hadn't got the photos (which of course look absolutely nothing like me.) Both buses home came together (and went without me) so I walked half way home. Half way home I remembered that I had initially put my cheque book in the passport envelope as I didn't know how I'd got to pay, so I checked the cheque book and there were the photos. I'd just seen the bus going back to Blackheath so I walked back - and got my passport forms checked and sent off and came out of the post office in time to miss both buses home. I was a bit worried now as I was on duty manning a stand at the doc's surgery as they'd got a diabetes afternoon. So there I was in Blackheath with both buses gone and an hour to get home, have lunch, change and have a quick wash and go to the surgery nearly 2 miles from home in the other direction. I made it!

All that is to say .... 80 minutes walking.

180 minutes of cycling today. Kenn walked the dogs as I was on an extended phone call from the council and saw no signs of her hanging up and letting me get on with life.

It was a slow 31.1 miles for me (3 hours) but it was much harder than road riding on the trail as it was muddy as anything out there.

I hope that there is some spare chocolate icecream for me. I flipping deserve some today.

There's ice cream on the way, because I had chocolate ice cream with bananas yesterday so it must have been in the space ship. Great being weightless, isn't it. the ice cream makes no difference! Yes, definitely cheese - with no saturated fat. We can eat as much as we like. Lets hope this global warming doesn't affect the moon.

Today brought me 33 minutes on the bike and 60 minutes walking, so a total of 93 minutes to be converted into miles.

I wonder if there is ice cream on the moon. I know that there is green cheese, my Dad said so. Wallace and Gromit found cheese up there.

Great stuff Raffie, We'll be there in no time. I thought a few more people might come and join our epic voyage. The birds were singing and the sun was trying to shine so I walked to Blackheath and back to buy some chocolate ice cream, after 8s (the Poundland version) and bananas. I don't think they'll help much with my weightlessness! Anyway, it was an hour's walking.

Are we weightless yet? I wonder if space food is fattening?

Anyway. 1 hour and 7 minutes of cycling today and an hour of dog walking. So 2 hours and 7 minutes in total today. Or 127 in minutes.

Blessed are the cracked for it is those who let in the light.

So far our virtual walk has taken us from Lands end to John O'Groats, back to Ben Nevis and then to Alicante and South through Africa as far as Cape Town.

As if that wasn't adventurous enough, we're off to the moon!

The 1969 voyage took 4 days, 6 hours and 45 minutes. That's 6165 minutes. So there and back would be 12,330 minutes.

If we start retrospectively by adding any exercise we did yesterday (20th January), we will have 40 days to either get to the moon or, better still, go to the moon and back.

The rules for this are very simple as we just add our exercise minutes together. All exercise counts. If there are only 3 of us we'll be aiming for 6165 minutes in 40 days, but it would be great to have some more join us and go there and back.

To count yourself in go to UK Midlands Team, Challenges and Ideas, To the Moon and back, and add your name to the list along with any exercise minutes from 20th January and onwards. Or, if that's too much of a fiddle, just record your exercise minutes on the thread and we'll update the list for you.

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
