Well I gained 2.2lbs this week. I'm not surprised though. I went home again and had a lot of not so good for me food, plus it's that totm so that adds weight as well. However, I had good measurements so I'm not getting myself down.
I lost .5in from my waist, 1in from my hip, .25in from my thigh, .25 from my upper arm, and again my calf measurement stayed the same. I'm pretty happy with my measurements. I just wish my weight would reflect it..

Here are my new measurements and weigh-in in comparison to last week
LBs: 159.6--158.8 lost 0.6lb
Waist: 38.5--38 lost 0.5in
Hips: 40.75--40 lost 0.75in
Thigh: 20.5--20.25 lost 0.25in
Arm: 12--11.5 lost 0.5 in
Calf: 13.75--13.75 stayed the same
Overall I'm pleased. I wish the scale read a lower number but in reality it's the inches that everyone sees not the scale number so I'm pleased.

Also, I'm going to start a new challenge. All the challenges on SP are lose x number of pounds in x amount of time. That's great, but we tend to put so much stress on the number on the scale that we forget that what people really notice are the inches coming off. That's what I'm going to work on from here on out, inches coming off. Don't get me wrong it would still be nice to lose 1.5-2lbs every week until CHRISTmas, but I'm not going to be upset anymore when I see the inches going down but not the scale. Remember, having muscle instead of fat may look thinner, but muscle weighs more. So take that into consideration as well.
The new challenge will be called "Lose 2 inches by Jan 7." That's a month from today. It can be inches from your waist, your thigh, your hips, whatever you choose but then stick to that body part and really work it. Don't stress on the number on the scale. If the inches are coming off, then you are doing something right.

So I went up 4 lbs now im at 175 but i think that could be do to the fact that im suppose to start my af soon. So its just pre af weight. But i am keeping hopeful

Count me in!! I just started a whole new workout routine this week. I would love to lose some weight before Christmas, and I have two dresses that are coming that I need to fit into for Christmas and New Years so they are my motivation!!!!

Hey all,
So as promised here's my weigh-in and measurements. I'm down 0.6lbs but I did eat a decent size lunch and it hasn't been a full week since my last weigh-in which was last Wednesday. So I was an even 160 now I'm down to 159.4.

I have changed how I do my measurements. I am now measuring the fattest part of each body part that SP gives to measure. Naturally those measurements went up. But I think it will be more accurate as to how much I really am losing. So here are those measurements:
Waist: 38.5
Hips: 40.75
Thigh: 20.5 (I always do my left thigh)
Upper Arm: 12
Calf: 13.75

To hold myself accountable, I'm going to start listing all of my measurements, not just the losses, when I post my weigh-ins.

Hey all,
I'm sorry I haven't posted anything lately. How was everyone's thanksgiving. When I weighed myself the day after Thanksgiving, just to see how the holiday treated me, I weighed even less so that's exciting. I wasn't expecting to see that. I'm going to go back to weighing-in on Mondays. So I'll let ya'll know tomorrow how that's going.

For those who haven't seen, someone else has put up a challenge on the General Discussion part of the forum called lose 10lbs by the new year, or something like that. I have started that challenge. I don't know if' I'll make all 10 lbs or not, but I really want to get out of the 150s that I've been in since September. Here I come 140s.

FINALLY hit goal and even went a tad under! Goal was 186.9 weighed in yesterday at 186.2. woo!

Now this is excited because the lower the eighties are, the closer I am to breaking through my all time plateau of 179. But with the holidays, oh yes, the "holidays" managing my food is harder than I thought it would be.

And I think it's because everywhere you go, you hear about it! Now the food is more tempting! And I feel like I'm being "bad." It's so annoying how America's weight obsession is countered by our food obsession and all at the same time! Here I am drooling over a Taco Bell commercial at 11:00 at night, only to be followed by another commercial for magic weight loss pills! I realize it's a money game, but damn, makes it hard, so hard to stay balanced.

Congrats Donewiththis! That's awesome!

I, on the other hand, am feeling like a big fat turd. I weighed in this morning and I'm at 160! I haven't been in the 160s since September. I'm so mad at myself right now! My head just says give up but I also know that if I give up I'll be letting myself down more than anything.
I also took my measurements. There's good news and there's bad news. I gained .75 inch in my thigh but I lost 1 inch in my waist and .25 inch in my hips. Those losses are really the only thing keeping me motivated right now.

I'm happy to let you all know i have been on track now and i was 171.5 last week when i weighed in on the 16th. yesterday i was 165!!

Well this week was pretty good action wise. I ate within my calorie ranges pretty well and worked out 3 intense days this week (including one intense day with a trainer that left me still sore 3 days later...) but unfortunately none of the weight budged...

However yesterday I turned around and saw AMAZING definition in my back that wasn't there before the trainer kicked my butt. It's a small piece of success, but I'll take it!

I went to the gym today for the first time since last Wednesday. I went home to WI Thursday morning so it was the first that I could go again. I went on the treadmill and did a total of 3.35 miles at various inclines and speeds and that was a total of 341 calories lost. I also went on the bike and did a total of 6.9 miles at various levels and lost a total of 158. The whole workout resulted in a 499 calorie lost. Plus I parked far away so when you add that, I'm sure I made my 500 goal.

As I said before, because I went home and got off track with everything, I'm going to make my new weigh-in day on Wednesdays. That way I can have a couple of extra days back on track. I did an unofficial weigh-in today and found out I gained about 2lbs YIKES! so I have til Wednesday to bring that back down. I'm hoping to get it in the 158.? range, because right now it's in the 159 range. I'm just glad it's not any more than what it is.

Hi Everyone!

This was my first week with the challenge and I've lost 4.8 lbs! I know Thanksgiving is this week but I've already got a plan. I'm jogging/walking an 8k called the Turkey Trot in my hometown of Raleigh, NC. That way when I get to Thanksgiving I'll allow to have the things I want in moderation.

It's so great to hear ya'lls stories. VERY inspiring. Happy Turkey Day!

I get the sinking feeling that Thursdays are not a good day for me to weigh in. Today I am 187, down from Thursday. But I am not going to change my date, cause I would be cheating myself. After loosing 25 lbs, I have been at this plateau for 1.5 years! Not that I have worked every single day at it, but it's annoying. On the flip side, I am also grateful that I have been able to maintain the initial loss. And it's nice that people think of me as "skinny" as in skinnier than my fatter self-not actually skinny, not now, but eventually!

CONGRATS DREAMIN! I'm glad to hear of your loss (wow, only in weight loss is that a positive statement lol). You are almost there and you can get that last couple of pounds in a week or two I know you can. You are doing so great and you look great too (after looking at the pics on your blog). I can only hope to do as well as you have done.
This week has been hard. Today is a tough day for my family and I and all week my diet/exercise has reflected it. I'm taking in too many calories and getting out too few. I drive back to KY on Monday and it's an all day drive pretty much from WI so on Tuesday it's back to losing 500 cal/day and only eating within the SP guideline--not looking forward to Thanksgiving because of it. It's also ttotm for me so that's effecting my weight as well. I'm not looking forward to my weigh-in next week. Because of my lack of exercise and diet I'm going to move my weigh-in from Mondays to Wednesdays so that I can have a day back on track before seeing those numbers go up :(

I still can't believe it. This week I lost 1.2 pounds!!!!

I have not been able to lose more than .5 pounds in forever and I finally lost a solid pound and a tiny but more. I didn't exercise too much I think 3 days of the week, but ate well and did some abdominal stuff, I am so excitied this really motivates me to just finish this part of my journey already!!!

I need everyone to get serious with me, I can't back down it is harder to lose now and I need to keep this up! This week I worked on getting my calories high enought, I have the strange problem of not eating enough calories some day because I am full, I have been making myself eat more, it has helped too!!!!!!!and don't forget my dance workout!!!! haha that just might of helped!

Goal- Finish the Philadelphia Marathin in good tiime!

I can't believe I let myself gain some of the weight I worked so hard to lose, but I promise it will come off again and stay off!

Lost inches! Full update on my spark page. I just wanted to share because I know that the scale can be very discouraging. This was uplifting for me since the scale its self has not moved, yet. But I am still working on the number, just nice to know there is progress otherwise.

Today's weigh in was 188.4 Lost .02 of a pound. What is that, like an eyelash! Did hit a low this week of 186.4 that was refreshing, but it didn't stick, so 188.4 is the official number here today. I have cut regular sugar from morning coffee, so that should help. If not with weight just health in general. I was a bit overboard with it.

I went to the gym and got on the treadmill for two rounds including 2 cool downs--one for each round (each round lasts 30 minutes so an hour total+2min cool down for each round). They were done at various inclines and various speeds. Total calories lost is different than what SP gave me because of the inclines. I lost a total of 498 calories on the treadmill.
I went on the stationary bike as well and did one mile to finish the 500 calorie goal. I was on it for 5 minutes and burned 26 calories.
Total calorie lost 524

This week is an emotional week for my family and I because we are in remembrance of my dad who died 10yr ago on the 21st. Due to this my calorie intake has gone out of control because when I'm sad I eat a lot--and not necessarily eat good healthy stuff. However I've been keeping up on my exercise--I think it helps me actually. So this week I may not lose the 1.5-2lbs. It might be less. I'm just going to shoot for at least maintaining the weight. I won't be able to be on again until next Tuesday because I'm going home for the weekend-leaving tomorrow and coming back Tuesday. My mom disconnected the internet when my sisters and I moved out--she doesn't really use it except for at work so it makes sense. It just means that I can't get on until I get back. So if you don't hear from me, don't worry. I'll still try to get in all the calories and hopefully eat better. But my mom's a great cook and I end up gaining a pound or two every time I go home. Ok so I'll stop rambling.

I'd appreciate it if you could keep my family in your prayers and thoughts during this time. Thanks.

Calorie counters cardio machines vs SP-I would go with the lower one, which I noticed tends to be SP. SP knows your a woman and maybe a more accurate. Or maybe check out different sites and see what the consensus is...

I have a question for you guys. For some reason whenever I go to the gym and get on the stationary bike and get a calorie count from the bike, it's a different calorie count than what SP will give me. Which calorie count should I go by?

This morning I did the SP- 10 minute kickboxing workout: 117 cal. I went to the gym and got on the bike: 126 cal; treadmill: 229 cal; ellipitcal: 20. Total I lost 489 cal. I think with adding walking to and from my car plus around the house I can round it off to a 500 cal lost.
BTW the elliptical OMG! I couldn't last more than 4 minutes on that thing. How do people do it for 1/2-1 hr?

I DID IT! I dropped 2lbs! YAY! I also dropped .25in from my waist since Friday the 6th and 1in from my hips the same Friday.
Now comes the real trouble though. I'm still in my fluctuation zone, I really need to work it if I'm going to keep losing instead of fluctuating.
I'm going home either Thursday or Friday and that's never good for my diet so hopefully I can stay on track.

So far I took my dog for a 2.7 15min/mile walk and burned 215 calories. Once I'm done posting this I will do the SP 10minute Kick boxing work out, and MAYBE the pilates abs and/or pilates hips/thighs. I have decided that Sundays are going to be light workout days. I work out a lot during the week and Sunday, being the day of rest, I'm going to lower the 500 calories to 300 calories. It's good to take a break, even if it's just a small one. I'm only doing it on Sundays though. I have also decided that I'm going to measure myself on every official weigh in day- which I think I'm going to change to Tuesday, we'll see. I usually only measure myself every other Friday, but I think seeing the inches on the measuring tape go down will help motivate me.

It's ok girls, we all fall off the wagon at one point or another. I have many times. What matters is that we get back on and we keep kicking butt!

Today I took my dog for a really short walk. It was cold and I was like enough of this. So it wasn't even a mile. But then after lunch with a friend (I kept it fairly healthy) I went to the school's fit center again and did 4.3 miles on the treadmill (ran 1.25 of the miles) and biked for 2.1 miles. Total today I have burned 487 calories. I might do pilates later to bring it up to the 500s.

Thanks for your concern Kat, and for your advice. I think I'm going to average around 1300-1400 cal/day or at least that's what I have been doing since I started this own personal challenge of mine. So I think it should be ok.

Today, so far, I did 4.2 miles on the treadmill at school burning off about 320 calories. 0.25 of a mile I ran. I'm not a runner at all so even doing that little bit was a lot for me. I'm going to do some pilates here in a little bit which if I do both videos I usually burn like 65 calories. Then I'll take my dog for a short walk (probably finish off that fifth mile) so that she can get some exercise too. This should get me close to my 500 cal. I have decided to give myself a little bit of lee-way ( I have no idea how you would spell that). If I make 475 calories I will count it good enough because with walking around the apartment, to my car, and what not--just the standard walking from place to place--that should cover the remaining 25 cal. So I'll give myself that. Well it's time for those pilates.

Hey Jdrake,
Not that I'm an expert, but I just wanted to drop by and say that you should make sure that you are eating enough for your basal metabolic rate. I'm sure there are other calculators, but I use the one on fat2fitradio.com, because I listen to their podcast. 1200 seems to be the bare minimum someone should eat.

Then again, I'm not a nutritionist. I'm throwing the grain of salt at my own comments. And you probably know more about this whole losing weight thing than I do, but just in case you haven't calculated yet, I thought I'd crack an egg of knowledge in your direction (any other "It's always sunny" fans here)?

I'm getting really tired of this. Ever since mid-Oct I've been fluctuating from 157-159 and I am at the top of it. I had my weigh-in this morning at 159.2. I'm getting really frustrated because I'm exercising A LOT and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. My dieting could be better, but it could definately be worst as well. I can put some of the blame on the new medicine that I am taking. Back in September I started using a new medicine where one of the side effects is that you gain a couple of pounds within the first few months. Though I can put some of the blame on that, I know I have to take some of the responsibility. I'm just so frustrated because I felt like I have been doing great at my workouts. I've been walking AT LEAST 2.5 miles/day.
So I think I have have to make a new plan. Back in August and early September I challenged myself to lose 500 cal/day and eat 1200/1500 cal/day and I lost most of the weight that you see on my tracker in that month alone. So I think that's what I'm going to start doing to give myself an extra boost. What I'm doing obviously isn't enough so I have to work harder.
So for this challenge by next monday I want to be at 157.7 for losing 1.5lb or 157.2 for losing 2lbs. At least this is in my fluctuation area so it's possible I'll meet this goal :/

So hopefully tomorrow I will weigh less than 128.4 but just to asnwer your pant size question....

It all depends on your body type. I have muscular thighs and butt having played field hockey for the last 7 years almost fulltime and hence the bigger lower body. That being said I wear a size 7, 8 or 9 at the weight of 128, although I haven't bought many new jeans, some of my old ones are too baggy but I bought one pair of new jeans from target at size 9. And I have lost almost 30 pounds, hopefully more come tomorrow, and only dropped 1 maybe just barely 2 since.

So all depends don't get too upset, I just think of it like this, 30 pounds lighter everyone notices and tells me hoe much thinner I look and they have no idea what size my pants are!!...NO BIGGIE!

My problem also...pants will be hugging my thighs and butt but very loose around my waist..its so hard to find pants. hahaa

I'm wondering, how many inches or lbs or whatever does it take to drop a pants size? I've lost about 11 lbs and about 3 inches from my waist and my pants size hasn't changed. My shirt size changed, but not my pants. I just went shopping for the first time in like a year for clothes and I'm still the same pant size. It doesn't make sense to me. I remember a few summers ago I lost like 15-20lbs and went from a size 15 to a size 9/10. I gained some weight since and have been at the same 9/10 or 11 (depending on the brand and the way they run their sizes)--13 if they're dress pants--why do dress pants always run bigger. It's so weird. Now, I'm just ranting. I'll stop.

Hi MandyB55, You would be surprised, if you have a good toning routine (full body) you may even lose 2 pant sizes. I know my body changes inches sometimes faster then it does losing the weight. I usually do some resistance band exercises 2 times a week right now (i'm getting back into the swing of things) and i know when i began my weight loss journey a few years ago with some friends i toned and they did not and it LOOKED like i had lost more weight then the others but we were all about the same on losses. I also use my wii fit too. Before i got my bands i would use household items jars of jelly, ketchup, milk jugs filled with water, and what ever had weight to it to do weighted exercises.

You'll do fine when you find your motivation.

Sorry everyone about my and Donewiththis1's wedding ranting. But I think that with this challenge we should support and encourage each other in all aspects of our lives not just the weight loss. Because, after all, our lives affect our weight loss. Typically, when we are mad, stressed out, sad we binge. When we are happy, motivated, and calm we are healthy.
So feel free to chime in at anytime if anything is happening good or bad in your life that you need encouragement on or a way to go or whatever.

Donewiththis1--I think that you have a very good reason on the day that you and your fiance picked out and I wouldn't budge on that. And I hear ya about the bridezilla. I too don't want to be like that, but sometimes it feels like I have to or like you said it won't be US or OUR style (that's paraphrased obviously).

I've had to step in and say no to suggestions, we had one person, my grandmother, asked us to change the date. The date for us is special so i can't it was the day my fiance's best friend who died was born, i understand it would be convenient for traveling to FL, but i cant do it.

That sounds wonderful and very fitting, the church. I'm getting more excited each month. But am dreading the drama here and there. I'm not one to be harsh, or the one to put my foot down, and i don't want to sound like a bridezilla, but I need to do what's best to keep our wedding US and our style.

Thanks. Our wedding is the Aug 7 2010. I know it's hard to be harsh--it really is for me anyways. I hate being mean. However, it seems like if I'm not harsh, nothing gets done, or done the way I/we want it (like with the save the dates 2 months turned into 4!). With my mom already I've had to be like, mom I understand and appreciate all of your input and your help, but this is Jeremy and I's wedding, you had yours the way you wanted it, let us do ours the way we do. She has some great ideas, it just some of the ideas that are thrown out are just not me, or Jeremy (my fiance) and so it wouldn't reflect us very well and our wedding should reflect us ya know?
A beach wedding sounds so romantic. Are you going barefoot--I would :P just because I could lol. Ours is at the church that I grew up in. My family made and dedicated this huge stained glass cross in memory of my dad to that church and the pastor there is like my 2nd dad so it's fitting that we do it there with my pastor officiating.

I know with certain people for me it's only going to get worse (the drama) but that is what i have said all along, "Its MY wedding, OUR wedding! We will do what WE want, not what makes everyone else happy, but what makes US happy, and if nobody likes it DON'T COME!" i know it sounds a little harsh, but to me, i don't need that extra worry on my plate when i have enough already.

when is your wedding by the way? Mine is May 7, 2010 and its on a beach in Florida. I'm SOO excited!! thanks again for the congrats. As for your motivation....here are your words back...would you want to put on your wedding dress and no be happy and think back...i should have followed my plan OR would you rather put on your dress and look and FEEL AMAZING and be glad you stuck with it?...i know it's not completely the same, but it worked for me!! I hear ya about the drama lol. The first part of October it was like can I go one week without any drama?! First it was with my maid (or I guess by then she'll be a matron) of honor about shoes (THEY GO ON YOUR FEET for crying out loud) and then it was with my friend who was doing our save the dates. I asked her in July to have them done by end of August--I just got them yesterday...ya..........and she wonders why I asked someone else to do the invites. Luckily there hasn't been too much drama since but still for a while there it was like "Come on people it's MY wedding" ya know?
But good to know about the whole "and guest" thing on the invites. I'll be sure to work that in :)

Congrats on the 2lbs! wow! I think I ate 2lbs today. My diet has kind of gone off the handle today I'm just not feeling the motivation.

Thank you. And as for drama free, yeah right, it's already started and i've only just sent out the invites. Because on some of the invites in the beginning i didn't write and guest, people who weren't married but living with a partner are now complaining that their other half wasn't invited LOL but those people,are miserable anyway, and ALWAYS have to find something negative about everything in life.

But on a brighter note, i did weigh myself today ( changed the past post to match my ticker)and i lost 2 lbs!!! i know this just started but i was EXTREMELY excited with all that has gone on weightwise lately.

right now i reached my goal of 2 lbs!!

Hey all,
So I'm starting yet another challenge. The challenge is to lose 1.5-2lbs every week until CHRISTmas. If you lose more/week that's great! If you don't, do not sweat it, just get back on the horse and get going again the next week. But just think if you lost 1.5lbs every week until Christmas (which is 7.5 weeks away) that is 11.25lbs gone by Christmas which is a noticable differance to show off to the family. If you lose 2lbs/week then it's 15lbs! How awesome would that be. Again, don't be discouraged if you don't lose that amount every week. If you don't make it, jump in again and lose it the next week.
