April 21 is fast approaching!! My goal for this 6-week challenge was to be at 166. Today I came in at 166.9. It'll be a close call, but I think I can do it!

Yeah, I'm not going to make it...

Work has been the most stressful it has ever been in the 2.5 years I have worked here. And I was not prepared for it. I have maintained pretty well, but could be doing better.

Welcome to the challenge, EPresley! Better late than never-- come on aboard!

How are people doing this week? I had my official weigh-in today and am happy with the number.

Just 14 more days left in our challenge-- how are people doing with reaching their goal weight? My goal weight was 166 by April 23, and I weighed in at 168.4 today. I think it'll be a close call, but I'm hoping to make our goal! Fingers crossed, and of course I'll keep you posted!

Hey all ! looks like I'm a bit late for this challenge, but here I am!
I started off January 2015 at 167 pounds. I started off my spark people journey at 159... During the past 4 months I brought my weight to 157... this weekend I fell of track and this morning I weighed in at 162.. so a little bit of back sliding. I have been tracking my meals when I am not too busy, and find that I am still holding on to my bad habits... portion distortion, uncontrollable sweet tooth, and carb overload.

How have people been doing this past week? I've been staying strong with exercise (I'm something like 42 days in a row!) and have been tracking my meals. Most days I fall under the calorie range which is good!

Anyone else have any accomplishments this week?

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahahahah. You may be thinking of one of your other Spark friends? I am DEFINITELY not preparing for marriage any time soon- my boyfriend would not be thrilled to hear that I'm spreading rumors on the Internet that we're already engaged. Yikes. :)

In any case, I'm doing this weight loss mostly just for me- to feel comfortable in my body and feel attractive to the outside world. I certainly wouldn't say no if anyone wanted to propose, but I'm in no rush quite yet! ;)

Nice job getting yourself back on track, and good luck with the workout tonight. What are you planning to do???

Glad to hear you followed through!

I did a light workout last night. I am still nursing the tail end of a cold, so I didn't do anything too intense. I did eat pretty well yesterday (just a smidgen over my calorie goal). I think I can call myself back on track.

I am intending to do a workout this evening, so I will definitely be checking up on you Waffle! You did it last night, which means you can and will do it tonight. Eye on the prize, my friend. You are going to take that step into marriage in a healthy, active body, or else! :)

Just to follow up, I did end up working out last night! I ended the day with about 35 minutes of cardio on top of the 6-minute bootcamp video (which killed my glutes, by the way!).

Ate within my calorie limit and got what felt like a normal range of sleep. I'm still feeling totally wiped this morning, though, so I skipped my morning workout.

So, like yesterday, I'll definitely need help motivating myself to go home and fit a workout in after I finish work. Would anyone mind following up with me to hold me accountable?

Hope everyone's day is going well so far, and that they're feeling on track! Anyone else have any goals or hurdles they need help with?

I am hoping to go for a run today.

I tracked all my food as well, that way I'm not wavering on what to eat. That is always dangerous for me!

Thank you for being so helpful! Today I woke up and did a 15-minute walking video and one of the bootcamp strength videos.

I usually do 30-40 minutes of cardio in the morning but was EXHAUSTED this morning and kept hitting snooze. I'd really like to get some more minutes of cardio in this evening. I think my biggest thing will be motivating myself to do it, as I am always so tired after work.

I'm on track with eating today. My calories for the day are already tracked, and things are looking and feeling good. I think my biggest hurdle today will be pushing myself to work out again this evening.

How about you? Any specific goals or plans for the day?

I hear you on the big picture weigh down, Waffle. I felt the same way last week and totally let go of everything. Needless to say I gained weight from it. Doh. I am not going to mark my gain because I will be re-losing it this week, darn it!

So here is my first time frame goal. I would like to be under 155 by April 15th. This goal is very important to me, so the next three weeks will involve a stricter diet and an intense workout program.

We shall see! Hopefully I get there. My reward is a ticket to an event (which I'll only be able to get that day), so I better do it!

Thank you! I know splitting it up is the way to go-- thank you for reminding me. I like the idea of celebrating in five-pound intervals, and that sounds managable and a fun thing to celebrate! Maybe at my next five-pound interval (165) I will buy myself a new pair of headphones for working out!!

Waffle,

Try splitting it down into smaller goals with small rewards... I gave myself a goal for every 5 lbs lost and it helped so much! It's a lot easier to focus on than the whole amount (60-70 lbs for me).

Having kind of a blah couple of days and feeling kind of hopeless. I want this so badly but am losing sight of the day-to-day and getting totally bogged down by the big picture. The idea of losing 50 pounds overall is so huge and daunting to me, and I'm really struggling with breaking it into smaller pieces...

I ran my first 10k over the weekend! Lots of room for improvement, but I had a blast!

This week marks 2 things for me:

1. The beginning of a regular running regime (haven;t had one in over 3 months)
2. The beginning of the "too poor to eat" diet.

We are sticking to bare minimums during our grocery shopping trips, and are severely limiting our meals out. We are traveling to Europe for a week at the end of April and need to save up as much as we can so that we can enjoy our time there. We are also trying to save up for our wedding in October. Every little bit helps.

Looks like I'm about 10 days late, but I'm game for this challenge! I'm starting pretty high and have easy improvements to my lifestyle that should help me out.

Starting weight: 224. (ouch now it's public)
Exercise level: none-low (except working in fast-paced retail 20-30 hours per week)
Goals: pre-made/packed meals for lunches at the office, 30 day plank challenges, at least 30 minutes of activity per day. 7-9 hours of sleep/night.

Thanks everyone! Let's do this!

Got my run in and followed my meals yesterday. Only additions were 3 Hershey Kisses, 8 mini pretzels and some garlic bread.

I am up 0.3 this week, but that could very well be too much sodium and not enough water. (Corned beef plus Asian dishes in the same day were probably a bad idea). I did use the low sodium sauces we bought, but it's still not no sodium, so it adds up.

My goals for today:
1. No more than 2 cups of coffee
2. 45 minute lunch walk
3. 1-2 mile easy run (so I don't cramp up from yesterday's longer one)
4. 8+ cups water

Meals for today:
Breakfast: bagel (locally made, whole grain) and cream cheese (locally made)
Lunch: corned beef, mashed potatoes, boiled cabbage, carrots, turnips, parsnips and cauliflower, slice of homemade bread
Dinner: homemade french onion soup (no cheese, less croutons)
Snacks: 2 clementines and a banana

I love that your impulse buy was fruit and veggies. 

I was pretty on top of my diet this week. I had 2 junky nights 1) where I just ate some junky food (calorie range was OK), the other where I ate junk and went about 400 calories over my max. Whoops. I do usually give myself a cheat day (weekly) once I get back into the swing of thingsÖ but Iím not yet there as I have not gotten into regular workouts yet. I went for a run, did some weight training and sit ups/pushups, but it was very minimal exercise this week.

I am planning to bust out the calendars this week. I created my own workout calendars which are pretty complex Ė for however many workouts a week I get a junk day of XYZ calorie bonus, set number of mandatory workouts, etc. I put checkboxes because I do like to check things off. =D

Either way, I am down about 4 pounds (probably a bit of that is water weight, but Iíll still take it). I am back into the 150s, and here I would like to stay. The thing I noticed this week without exercise is where I am losing is clearly changing, which I donít like. Even in my chunky state (I am beyond chunky right now from lack of activity), my stomach is usually on the smaller sideÖ and letís just say, itís not.

Anyway, that is the week 1 update. My competitor lost 5 pounds, so I have a little bit of catching up to do.

Welcome week 2!

Hello all! Fiance and I spent most of the weekend knocking stuff off our to do list (including selecting the clothing and shoes for the entire bridal party, finalizing our guest list, paying the deposit for the hairstylist, setting up our room block, and getting some more ideas for centerpieces). Even though we didn't get in any structured exercise, we both had over 10,000 steps both days.

Our grocery list this week included only the following: fruits, vegetables, eggs, some corned beef, a couple of sauces (low sodium soy sauce and low sodium terriyaki) and bread. We did also buy some Cadbury eggs BUT, we actually spent time looking for the singles so we wouldn't have to buy the pack of 4. So that's a step forward. That, and all of our impulse purchases were fruits or vegetables.

Plans for today include a 45 minute walk at lunch time and a 3-4 mile run in the evening. Breakfast was a bagel (locally made, whole grain) and cream cheese (locally made). Lunch will be corned beef with potatoes, cabbage, and carrots. Dinner will be a stir fry with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and ramen (noodles only). I have clementines for snacks, and my beverages will be 2 cups of coffee, one homemade iced tea (no sugar), and water.

Thanks for checking in!! The day that I posted, I was able to reach 19k steps, so I would say it went well!! :)

The next few days went equally well.

Saturday I took a rest day and did a very short cardio, so only made it to 7k steps. The rest was very much needed after a week of very hard work.

Sunday I got back on track and hit 15k steps.

Today I'm already at almost 8k before 10am! Hoping to reach 15k again today.

I was able to squeeze in 30 minutes of cardio this morning and am hoping to get at least 15 more in this evening. That's the goal for today!

How is your week going???

How are people doing today? I was able to squeeze in a 30-minute walking workout today before work, and I'm already at 8400 steps on my Fitbit! Yesterday I made it to 21,000 simply by walking the dog, commuting to and from work, and doing a longer workout than usual. I'm going to see if I can hit 18k tonight!

Glad to have you aboard! And kudos on being realistic on what your body can do!

I can't usually lose more than 1 pound a week, but since I am restarting after an upward spiral, I think 10 is possible for me in 6 weeks. I know the reset will have me losing at least 3-5 pounds the first week, and my body loves 150 so I think it will 'assist' me in getting back to there. But who knows? This has just been my experience in the past (I have had 2 successful weight losses - one, WW, I found that I could not stick with and gained back the weight as soon as stress kicked in.. and then some, and the other I designed my own plan, using spark to assist me, and lost and maintained fairly close to my goal weight, but unfortunately I got very ill and am still trying to overcome some of the negative symptoms - which left me gaining back most of what I lost).

Anyway, if I don't hit the 10 in 6, it's not the end of the world. Even weeks it seems we should lose or gain, our body doesn't always do what we expect. I guess the thing I look at most, and I will perhaps give you folks this challenge, is how my body changes. This, for me, has been a great tool, but I do understand if it is not your cup of tea. Truthfully, I found it tough to do, but pretty effective. Once a month, I stand in front of a full length (or at least most of my body shows) mirror and take a picture (same clothing each month). There will be months where the scale fails you. Youíll have done everything right and the scale says down 2 pounds (or up) and you sit there scratching your head and wonderingÖ what the heck did I do wrong? This method has encouraged me when the scale has not, so itís nice to have in addition. I just keep the image in my email and after a couple months, I line them up. So my challenge, if you donít care for this, is find an additional way to measure progress. Itís nice to see that number drop, but seeing muscles grow, bellies define, etc. is also nice. 

I think 10 in 6 might not work for me- feels kind of rushed and unsustainable for me personally! However, I am down to aim for 6 in 6!!! Here are some steps I have been taking, and will continue to take:
- track calories (intake and burned) daily, and make every attempt to be net positive at the end of at least 4 days per week
- aim for at least 6 glasses of water daily
- at least ten minutes of cardio daily

I would love for somebody to hold me accountable and check in with me on some of these goals. I am starting at 172 on 3/12/15, so 6 weeks from now would take us to 4/23/15, where I plan to be 166.

Ready, set, go!!!

Checking in.

So I was hoping to see a little more interest, but perhaps it will come later. :)

I've really gotten out of the habit of regular exercise (oops!), so my first challenge will be a 4/ workouts a week challenge. It will be for the duration of this challenge, and I would love to build on that. I will doing at least 50m 4X a week, with 3 hours of that being cardio.

Sounds like a plan!

I prefer to do my own cardio (I run), but would be open to yoga/pilates/strength training challenges.

I think challenge workouts are an excellent idea!

I will do some youtube browsing today and see what I can come up with. Perhaps we could do round-table workout challenges. Each day someone poses a new challenge... assuming we get a little more interest. :)

I'm in! Are you planning challenge workouts, or are you allowing everyone to do things on their own?

I am challenging all you lovely ladies and gentlemen to a 10 pounds in 6 weeks goal(especially those starting and restarting, like me!). I really respond best to competition, which I have covered by a friend (we have a reward in place.... ;) ) but it's also nice to find support from others doing the same.

I weighed in this morning at 164. I will be weighing in every week to check on how I am doing, and I will be keeping track of activity and food intake each day (reset myself to normal portions again).

My goal by the end of 6 weeks is to lose my first set of 10 pounds (though I wouldn't turn down more!). If 10 pounds is not a realistic goal for you (remember that part of this process is getting to know your own body, what it responds best to, and what it is capable of) feel free to leave your 6 week goal as an additional challenge.

I'd ask that anyone participating check in at least once a week. It is my intention to come on here almost every day to remind myself to stay on track. I know from the last time I lost weight (kept it off until I became ill) that accountability is the only way I can succeed.

I am ultimately pushing for the 130s, but in the meantime - making my pants fit properly and my knee less creaky can be accomplished by this first goal. What will 10 pounds do for you?
Thanks!
