Do It Your Way

Much of the collected "wisdom" about exercise is questionable. One study says one thing while another study refutes it. So much of the exercise world is dominated by competitive sports or the profit motive. Neither of these spheres have the well-being of the individual as their central motivation. Therefore, exercise your OWN way. Feel free to ignore the advice and rules. Move at your own pace, in your own way, when it makes sense to you. Listen to your own mind and body.

More Information:

The important thing is to keep moving and using your body. HOW you do it is up to you. The healthiest seniors I have known all exercises. (I am thinking of my father and father-in-law.) But the way they did it was very unique and individual. Still they both have stayed healthy into ripe old age.

  • Here! Here! The last time I had a large weight loss I wasn't even trying. I ate well, healthy foods, until I was satisfied, no watching portions, weighing or measuring. And my exercise was walking in the woods everyday for an hour. If I felt particularly good, I really pressed myself, came out exhausted and high on endorphins. Other times it was 'easy does it'. I have to add that 'woods' around here includes some pretty steep and rough terrain if you want it to. Friends asked me about what I was doing and thought the answer was too easy. They thought I should be going to the gym, have a personal trainer or be on a special diet. They seemed disappointed and amazed at the same time. Maybe they were a little skeptical. I'm plan to let that experience guide me this time. - by NDORRIS
