It is so hard to ask for half-size at a restaurant. Afterall, it is NOT half the cost, so why go half? Best to order fullsize and have them bring a takeout box when they bring your meal. Put half away for later. Half the calories, and you already paid for another meal !

    Great tip - I do this too!

    Sometimes when I am with a willing friend, We each order a salad and then we split the main course. This works best at Italian restaurants where the main plate is usually so large. You fill up on salad, have some pasta and meet and you feel satisfied - not bloated stuffed.

    Another idea is to look at the appetizer menu for a main course meal. If there is something there I like, I order a side salad and the app to be brought during the main course. This is great on the budget too, as the apps are often cheaper than a full meal.
