Sailing Is Active And Fun

MEMBERS SPARKED

Sailing is both fun and physically challenging. Getting out on the water. The feel of a stiff breeze on your face. The sound of water slapping on the hull of the boat. The trail of disturbed water in the wake of the boat as it slices through the water. The complete dependency on the winds and water currents to go where you want to go and return. Making you one with nature.
The physical challenges that require strength as you trim sails. The core strength required as you position your body to keep the boat in balance as the wind tries to tip the boat and you work to keep the boat as level as possible. Hanging by a wire. Only your feet touching the boat. The boat is bounced by the waves and you must keep your feet stable on the side of the hull.
There are times when you stay completely still and times when you must move quickly yet softly. You don't want to slow the speed of the boat, but the sails need adjusting whether to tack and change direction or change sails as the course and wind dictate that different sails are needed to maximize speed. So you move with the efficiency of a cat. Keeping your balance as the boat is bounced by waves and tipped by the winds. Completing the task quickly and efficiently. Then the work is done, and time to stay still so that the boat's speed can accelerate and maximize.
A combination of physical activity mixed with nature. Moving and stillness. Winds and waves. Excitement and anticipation. A constant awareness of changing tides, shifting winds, potential sandbars or rocks lying under the surface of the water that can cause sudden disaster. The joy of watching a dolphin play in the wave made by the bow of the boat in the water. They know how to take time out to have fun.
Life can't get much better than this.
