I am tired of taking the additional medicine that I wouldn't have to if I wasn't overweight. There are clothes that I would like to wear that I can't because of my weight. On the nights that we have Eastern Star, or just church I know I would feel like I looked nicer if I lost weight. Plus the less medicine I take, the less side effects I have to live with from all of the medications.
My theory about various denominations is this... I am a Christian and all Christians are basically trying to go to the same place. While their beliefs differ slightly I have a background in several different denominations. I was raised in a S. Baptist family. My father's family was definitely S. Baptist. My mother's family belonged to the Christian church. My Uncle Jerry was a Baptist Minister. I have always believed in Jesus, I was baptised in 1973 the summer after 3d grade. My Uncle Fred Schumacher (my favorite Uncle) is a Lutheran Pastor (With a PHD in theology from Princeton. (His wife's my father's sister, and she is my favorite Aunt.) When I was in 8th & 9th grade I went to an Assembly of God school. When I was in college I went to a Nazarene church. My Mother's sister Betty was Lutheran but a different synod than my Uncle Fred. My Mother's brother was Episcapalian. I miss both of them. When I was married my husband was Presbyterian his parents were Presbyterian missionairies. Later after I was divorced I joined the Methodist church. I have been told that many Baptists are converting to the Methodist Church. In the genealogy I have been doing I have also found out that my great great grandfather was a Methodisr minister, I may not have known him, but it would still have influenced the family. Study that I do at home from books written by people of many different denominations.
I know that this is great the support I am getting and having a chance to give at SPARKS is really motivatingl when it comes to dieting. I have been trying to get friends from TOPS to check out Sparks but I haven't had a lot of luck. It is too bad, they don't know how much they are missing. I did find out this week that some signed up. I didn't know they did earlier because they didn't tell them I referred them. That is irrelevant. I am just glad they signed up!
I have one sister. The doctors determined from a CAT scan that she had uterine cancer. She had a 27 pound tumor removed. Then went home in 4 days. She says she is feeling good. She had other organs removed. (about anything removable). In September they said that she had cirrhosis of the liver and unless she has a liver transplant she only has 2 years to live. Afterwards it will depend on the defeat of hepatitis. Books I have read said 10 years at the most. Thanfully she is a Christian. She is sure that she is fine and will be okay. I am just glad that "God answers prayers!" I have been praying for her.
Part of what my dreams include writing books for children (mainly pre-school). I have a BS Early Childhood Development degree from NSU in Tahlequah in 1987. Since I can't teach, because of epilepsy (the seizures became out of control right after I graduated) I would love to write books for children the age I specialized in at NSU (I am certified to teach birth through 3'd grade in OK and MO). Writing books for children is what I really want, Writing for childrens magazines would be great as well. There are more magazines than I realized for children. Books relating to theology and the Bible. (There are already plenty of books about Noah's Ark and David and Goliath) but there are plenty of other Bible stories and morals that can be written about. After spending the last week of July teaching VBS and chasing Preschoolers around the church and church grounds I would like to use my degree to teach not just write books.
(My first dream was to be an RN. Betty Ipoch the director of Nursing at MSSC was going to let me go to school there and the minute she found out I had epilepsy, said NO. I decided to go to Franklin Tech and get my LPN first. One of the teachers there started locking me in a room asking questions about epilepsy 30 min to an hour and 35 minutes everyday when we were supposed to be working at the hospital because of the epilepsy. They didn't make me quit, but made me so uncomfortable, I felt I had no choice. I went to RSC in Claremore. John Wyatt my Adv. Bio. teacher, was giving a test. My neurologist said I had to change my medicine on a certain day. I requested more than 1x that I change the medicine a different day, the doctor said no. He said he would not give the test at a different time. I had to take it despite trying to adjust to new medication, I didn't pass. I had to change my major or just wait another year to finish).
I chose Early Childhood because children of that age are more pleasant than older kids. My favorite student teaching class was transition. (Between Kindergarten and first grade, kindergarten, first grade, preschool then second grade. NSU has 5 different student teacher classes per student.
One thing have been doing lately is re-reading the comments left by friends. It is amazing how good they make you feel every time you read them. I also made the journal and the poster SPARKS said to with the compliments on them. When I feel depressed, they make me feel better. I am thank-ful for all of my friends, both at SPARKS and anywhere and everywhere else.

My Goals:
I would like to lose weight to decrease the medication I take. for Hypothyroidism and Epilepsy. The side-effects are worse than the disorder. Wearing smaller clothes, being able to drive, and much more will be worth it. Wearing pretty formals when I've lost a significant amount of weight it would be great. I have pretty formals that wore at one time that I would love to wear again.

My Program:
Increasing fluid intake. Adjusting my diet to a healthier level, (they say it is too low). Increase exercise, I have increased my social life. I am learning to write books for children (and articles for children's magazines. I have plan to continue. Later maybe take a Bible Study class, possibly a class on illustrating books. or join a local Christian singles group that just gets together just to socialize. I have also thought some other kinds of social clubs might be fun.

Personal Information:
I was born in Norman, OK while my parents were attending OU so I am a SOONER fan. Most all of my family is from OK. My favorite Aunt and Uncle live in NJ so I don't get to see them very often. They have 3 kids, who are like brothers and a sister. Freddy lives with them, John his wife Tomi and their kids Emma and JT live in NC and their pretty daughter lives in NY. Many cousins have moved to AK. I still have some cousins in OK and a few in TX. I have a half-sister in Australia. I haven't seen her since she could talk. She is 19 now.

I have 3 pets a black cockapoo named Tybalt, a black dog that the Vet says is a cross between a black lab and Whippet named Romeo,

I also have a cockatiel who is grey named Mickey his first owner named (Mick Jager) because he likes to dance, and I plan to get another one asap so he has someone besides me to talk to (or himself in the mirrors).

Other Information:
I love to read. Most all of the books I read are theological in nature. I do read some fiction, but the fiction books I read are books that could be true.

I am not really into science fiction. My first job, besides babysiting was filing cards in the card catalog at MSSC when I was 15. I also worked in the school library every year in HS. I have also worked in the Library at MSSC.

The movies that I like are mostly Harrison Ford's movies. I like movies like "Fiddler on the Roof," and I liked the movie, "Martin Luther". I am more into country music. The first movie I ever saw was "The Jungle Book"

I do love Musicals. The first Broadway Musical that I saw was when I was 5 it was "Hello Dolly" starring Ethel Merrman on Broadway. I have also seen "Music Man" staring Tony Randall,
"CATS" and more.

My Favorite devotionals are "For All the Saints" Written by Reverand, Doctor, Uncle Fred Schumacher!

    I just read this poem & felt it too good not to share on this CHRISTmas Eve! God bless!

    {This is another version of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' }

    'Twas the night before Jesus came
    and all through the house
    Not a creature was praying,
    Not one in the house.
    Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
    In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

    The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
    Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
    And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
    Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

    When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
    I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
    Away to the window I flew like a flash,
    Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

    When what to my wondering eyes should appear
    But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
    With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
    I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

    The light of His face made me cover my head
    It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
    And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
    I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

    In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
    Was written the name of every saved man.
    He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
    When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.

    The people whose names had been written with love
    He gathered to take to His Father above.
    With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
    While all the rest were left standing around.

    I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
    I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
    I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
    Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

    In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
    The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
    There's only one life and when comes the last call
    We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

    (by Reverend Edward M. Gionest, Sr.)

    To those who receive Him, He gives the power to become the sons of God, even to those that believe on his name. Repent and declare with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.
