Hi, I'm Betsy. I am 27 years old and am married to my high school sweetheart, who is absolutely the best husband ever. I have struggled with my weight since childhood. It goes up and down pretty often. When I'm thin, I'm thin, but when I gain weight, I gain weight. In the last few years I have added more and more weight and got to my heaviest at 156. For a 5'2 petite girl, that was enough weight to carry to spark my determination. I am now at 150, but needed some extra motivation and accountability.

-UPDATE- I finally got to my first goal of 130, Praise Jesus! I am still losing and will hopefully reach my 125 goal soon. My desire right now is to make sure that I maintain. I am so fearful that I will get lazy and start gaining again. I don't want to obsess, but I also don't want to have to start this long and painful process over again. Like I said in my intro. t when I start to gain weight, watch out because I gain it.

My current goal is to finish grad school (done in May-another PRAISE JESUS!) and start trying to have a baby. I'm not in too big a hurry, but you have to have a goal.

UPDATE AGAIN-It's amazing how our bodies respond when we are in the habit of doing the right things for it. I dipped below my 125 goal about 6 weeks ago and am now down to 120, give or take a pound. I'm amazed! I am now on a mission to maintain and am a little fearful. I just do not want to gain again. I also finished up graduate school in May and could not be more relieved that it's over. God has been very good to me. He teaches me through blessings and through struggles and I praise His name for that.

My Goals:
Updated Goals
1. to maintain my weight. I've given myself some room so I feel good about that.

2. To get muscles. I need to step up my strength training so that I can really get some toning going on.

3. To run at least one 5K per month.

4. To be able to run all of the Texas Round up 10K next April (I had to walk some of it this year b/c I wasn't training like I should have been).

5. To run a half marathon by 2010. I don't know if this is realistic, but you have to have goals that you're working toward.

My Program:
Maintaining my diet.

Running for at least an hour a day. I usually can't run the whole hour so I walk when I need to, but some day I'll be able to run the whole hour and will move it up from there.

Strength training on my new total gym.

Personal Information:
I'm a Texas girl from a small town near Dallas. I love Texas and will never leave. I love the color pink. I'm a health educator by profession so I need to set an example for people I come in contact with.

Other Information:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phil. 4:13

Hi! your success really inspires me because we're the same height, and i'm at 150 right now, which is where you started! i've always struggled with my weight, too, and i'd love to see 125 again, myself. Anyway, congrats on your current and future success! :o) -Jennie
