I am a person who has been very fit at different times in my life. I did gain weight from time to time, but it always seemed easy to get it back under control. I got remarried 8 years ago and somehow my life took on a different tempo. The past 8 years I have professed to being "too busy" with my teaching job, taking care of my family and my EBay business to attend to my weight and fitness level. The pounds have crept on....

January 2009, I committed myself to the Spark People "New Year New You" fitness challenge. My family now knows that when I get home from work I am not to be bothered. I WILL BE WORKING OUT!!! Dinner will have to wait. "Taxi cab" service will have to wait. My EBay profits have definitely suffered. BUT, since January 1st, I have missed only a handful of work outs! One of my Spark People team mates has a quote on her profile, "Exercise is non-negotiable". I love it! I admit, some days I literally drag myself through a work out, but I always feel 100% better after getting it done.

At the beginning of March I started the Alternate Day Diet. The diet and exercise are definitely paying off. I have lost 17 pounds!! This mentality has taken a LOT of self discipline. But I am loving the new "life style". It makes me happy to take care of me! And I was so excited to show off my new bikini body last summer in Mazatlan!!

My Goals:
I want to live a long and healthy life with my new husband! I want to regain the level of fitness that I have enjoyed in the recent past and maintain it!

My Program:
Most recently, I have been exercising "portion control". I tend to be a very big eater, and eat much more food than I really need. When I fill my plate, I take much less food than I think I would like. By the end of the meal, I find that I actually feel quite satisfied. When at a restaurant, I try to eat only half of what I am served. I take the rest home and have it for lunch the next day! This has been working for me!

Personal Information:
I am a 48 year old teacher in California. I am recently remarried and have a 20 year old daughter.

Other Information:
I love to travel with my family or friends.
