We all have our reasons for getting sparky. Mine is medical. I'm tired of not being able to go into "regular" clothing stores. With little steps this will change.

I'm Anne, I am 45 yoa. I have battled thyroid cancer, osteoarthritis and my weight. The cancer is in remission going on 5 yrs, the osteoarthritis and spinal degeneration is under control. However, being overweight has been an issue since my childhood. I have battled it many ways, been on every diet probably known to man, woman and the family pet.

I've been on Herbalife, Nutri-System, Weight Watchers, Even experienced Xenical...no thank you. Most recently in the last few years LA Weight Loss. My highest weight was 390#, when i joined LA was down to 350# or so. I dropped as low as 295# 2 years ago. But then gained a good portion back when I was laid up due to 2 level spinal fusion. So now I'm working on taking all that back off again forever.

I was on the road to having to depend on a wheelchair or walker. That was not going to fit into the lifestyle I wanted in my future.
I remember my family doctor asking me during the pre op physical "Why do you really want to do this?" I remember I told him, "to become more active and lose weight that I have been struggling with." He didn't say another word as he signed off on the paperwork.

By choosing this new road i know it will rid me of what I saw is holding me back from being as active as would like to be. Now I am able to become more active with limited discomfort, but i still plow thru.

I am ever so glad to have found this website. Because now I truly feel I am making a lifestyle change that will last.
I enjoy gardening, knitting, staff to 4 cats, motorcycling, reading, helping out on the family farm.

Thanks for stopping by my sparkpage, have yourself a Sparkarific day! And remember you control your future, the only mistake you make is not trying. If you don't then don't complain, but do something about it!

So as you can see I've been given a second chance after surviving cancer and also having back surgery. We all have a second chance, it is up to us to use it wisely.

2013 update

This entire year has been one huge medical challenge. Starting at the beginning of this year to this point as of November I have been gradually getting worse with my chronic pain issues. It has reached the point that I have gained back more than I care to think about mostly from not being as active. November 18th I am getting a pain pump implant put in and have hopes to start 2014 a lot better than this past year.

When you know a thing, to hold that you know it, and when you do not know a thing, to allow that you do not know it;this is knowledge---Confucius

Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice;it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.--William Jennings Bryan

Vigor is contagious, and whatever makes us either think or feel strongly adds to our power and enlarges our field of action. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

We can easily manage if we will only take, each day, the burden appointed to it. But the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday's burden over again today, and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it. --John Newton

Every man ought to begin with himself and make his own happiness first, from which the happiness of the world would follow.--Johann von Goethe

You gain strength, confidence, and courage by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face." Eleanor Roosevelt
