My name is Elizabeth. I started my weight-loss journey in February 2017 after my physician friend traveled here from Poland and told me at the end of her trip that she was worried about me and that I'm big.
It was a wake-up call, and I took her advice and started eating healthier (per her recommendation, low-carb). Up to that point, I generally ate whatever I wanted, as much as I wanted. I have been overweight all my life.

My Goals:
I want to get to a minimum of 125 pounds. Perhaps less, but I don’t know if that would be sustainable at my age and activity level (I am 39 and moderately active). I would love to have a flat belly, and am working at it.
Once I get to my goal weight and have proven to myself that I can keep it off, I will buy some beautiful new clothes (saving up)! I have decided that I would love to look good in beautiful clothes more than I like chocolate. I also love feeling healthy, energetic and strong!

My Program:
I exercise an average of 3 x/week. Moderate exercise for about ½ hour. I favor brisk walking and swimming. I do it more for the natural uplift in mood than for weight loss. It is part of my health care plan.

My diet changed over the past two years.
I started with low-carb, but otherwise I ate whatever I wanted. I lost 17 pounds, then plateaued for many months because I was eating too many sweets. I would eat too many sweets one week, gain a pound or two, then freak out and lose that weight, and it see-sawed like that for months.
I decided to change my approach, and went on keto. I lost 19 pounds on keto, but stopped it due to the extraordinary amount of time it took trying to get my macros right; being hungry a lot; and decided that keto is unhealthy (too many processed meats and I avoided fruits and vegetables due to hidden carbs).
I recently went on a modified Mediterranean/Nordic diet, with an emphasis on losing weight via calorie restriction.
