"Some days you will try your best and it will not feel like enough.

Some days the words you want to heal will hurt instead.

Some days you will question everything you do and why you do it.

This doesnt mean youre a failure.

Or you should quit.

Or God is mad at you.

It just means this

All of your days you will be human.

All of your days you will grow but not reach perfection.

All of your days there will be grace enough for you.

Keep going, friend.

Keep trying.

Keep moving forward.

I know its hard on some days. But you are more than those days.

And at the end of all your days you will hear, Well done, good and faithful servant.

That will make it all worthwhile.

So close your eyes and remember you are loved.

Today. Tomorrow. Forever." ~Holley

(2009) Counting My Blessings~

At 56, I have finally become concerned for my health. I have fought my weight most of my adult life and have decided it's time to change...not only because of my poor health but because I have also carried a burden with me for the last several years, which I'll explain in a minute.

I learned a lot about life before my mom passed away. When my best friend of 54 years lost her mom and dad, only 5 months apart, it made me take a closer look at life and just how many blessings I had. For the first time, I looked at my mom in a different light. I spent more time with her; took her for groceries and sales at the stores, just enjoying as many moments with her as I could.
At 81, she looked and acted as if she was in her 60's. She was agile and still driving and living in a retirement apartment alone. She never needed a hearing aid and never had cataracts. When we learned she had to start kidney dialysis, we were heartbroken. She did this for almost 3 years when she finally made her decision to stop the treatment for good...the pain it was causing her was just too much to endure. The blessing of this is we, as a family, were able to talk to her and say anything that was on our minds. It was our final "goodbye" to her earthly body.

In 2005, during the time my mom was dying, she asked me to promise her I would lose weight and get healthy. She had watched me over the years lose and gain and never stay at a healthy weight. I wanted to honor her wishes immediately and did my best to lose, only to gain it back again, several different times. I had other personal issues in my life, and along with grieving for my mom, weight loss was just another issue I couldn't deal with.

After finding out I had dangerously high blood pressure, I decided it was time to make that change. I knew if I quit smoking that would be an immediate way to get healthier. I have been smoke-free now since January 23, 2008.

Now, it's time to lose the weight for good, get off my meds and keep my promise to my mom. I miss her very much, but I believe it will only be a short time before I see her again.

I love you, Mom...this is for you.

My mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life its start.

She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rains came,
she protected me enough~
But not too much - she knew I'd need
to stand up strong and tough.

Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong~
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.

I am my mother's garden,
I am her legacy~
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me.

"Your life will follow your expectations. You have to change your thinking before you can ever change your living."
~Joel Osteen

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes. "
~ Charles Swindoll

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."

I'm "Kept" by the Love and Grace of God
You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind, But GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)
There were times when I thought I could go no longer,
But the LORD kept me moving. (Gen 28:15)
At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,
But the LORD kept my mouth shut.. (Psa. 13)
Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,
But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)
When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)
I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be 'kept '.
