Now that my kids are older and can drive, I've found I have lots of time for me!

Going to the gym has become a passion for me. Once you are there consistently you get to know other members and the staff. I find it's rewarding to go just to see and interact with people that are also interested in exercise and health. I work with a personal trainer that kicks my butt twice a week and another trainer that teaches a pilates class seems to have adopted my friend and I. He checks on us regularly. The circle keeps growing. My biggest fear is that if I take a break for more than a couple of days that I'll lose my momentum ... so I keep going! I've become obsessed with my muscles.

As for my diet - I refuse to count calories. It's not that I don't pay attention to the calories in food - I'm a huge label reader. I try to only buy things that would be considered nutritious and within a decent calorie range per serving for the meal I would eat it. I'm learning to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I try to eat lots of chicken, fish, salad, cereal, & whole grain bread. I stopped drinking soda in January 2008. I don't miss it. I look at food now in relation to how hard I'll have to work to burn it off rather than how good it would taste. Sometimes I decide that it's worth the calories so I eat it - not very often though. I have to handle my diet this way - it's the only way that I know I can stick with for the rest of my life.

I try to take a multivitamin, fish oil, and glucosamine/MSM combo every day (mostly to make my trainer happy.)

My Goals:
I want to be able to run faster and dive farther.

I want to be healthier and have more energy.

I'd like to look nice too but that's not as important.

My Program:
DIET -
1) Make healthy food choices without obsessing over calories. 2) Eat when hungry but only enough to satisfy that hunger!
3) I've found that eating 5-6 small meals helps keep me on track.

Personal Information:
I live in Simi Valley, CA. I love playing soccer and softball and have recently found that I really like going to the gym!

Other Information:
Life's journey is not to
arrive at the grave safely
in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting
'...holy sh*t ...what a ride!'

I refuse to tip-toe through life, just to arrive safely at death.

Thanks for checking up on me! The challenge is going great but I woke up w/ soreness in my knee so I didn't go to the gym this morning.

How are things going for you? Are you still going to your trainer?

Hello to my favorite Gold's Gym Member. How's everything going? I'm still plugging along with training, cardio and eating right. I hope all is going great with you. BTW, you look awesome in that action shot! You're still my inspiration!

Thank you for clarifying on the Done Girls thread about muscle being more dense than fat, but not weighing more. I am so tired of people gaining a pound and saying, "oh, I must have gained a pound of muscle! " It takes A LOT of weight training to gain a pound of muscle emoticon

Thank you for posting your weight training schedule on the GAIN Muscle thread. I have been looking for a new way to divide up my training schedule. I think I might follow your lead. :-)
