Welcome Back Grace, better late than never for 2015! The year might be halfway over but that won't stop me from loving me everyday! This is a happy and positive start back to SP for me. I'm back on SparkPeople, mainly for all the positive talk it instills in me and I can instill in myself but also to keep track of what I feel, how I feel, what I'm putting into my body and how my body is reacting to those things.

I've been on so many weightloss journeys over my lifetime. All the rollercoaster dieting, miracle weightloss pills, and all the fad diets. The only thing that ever helped me reach my goals and feel good was eating well and exercising! I found the athlete within me when I lost over 90 lbs in the early 2000's and became an avid runner and triathlete. Well, I reached my goals for all those things but truly was never really happy with myself. I was always wanting and thinking I needed to lose more weight...the famous last words, "I just need to lose 5 more lbs" or "I ate too much of this or that, now I need to work out harder to lose what I gained" and I could go on forever.

During 2013, I had to put myself aside to take care of my mother who was suffering from dementia and had broken one hip early in the year. Which caused me and my sister to be come almost full-time caregivers for her. Any efforts to maintain my self care journey basically went out the window. It was just enough to maintain my sanity. Yea, I would do some exercise here and there and try to eat healthy to keep up my strength but that was pretty much it, no consistency whatsoever.

In 2014, I actually got into a good routine with my exercise and was feeling good. The only thing I was having issues with was my knee. It was still giving me problems. So at the end of April, I finally gave in to the pain and went to an Orthopaedic surgeon. She told me that my right knee was in pretty bad shape and that I would probably have to have knee replacement probably in the next 5 years. For now, she cleaned it up and cleared out the cartilage build-up and also found a small fracture in my knee cap. With tons of PT and just laying off of everything for about 6 months, I was finally able to get back to some yoga and walking. These are the things I am keeping in my schedule for now.

I've been pretty consistent with my yoga since October of 2014. I joined a yoga studio and starting cycling again. For now, these are the things that are making me happy. Just getting out there and moving my body is making me feel better. For me starting this year, it's been just having a positive body image in the body I have now and treat it with respect and love.

Personal Information:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, dark chocolate in one hand, dirty martini in the other, body thoroughly used up from working out for so long, totally worn out and screaming, "WOOHOO what a ride!!!"

Other Information:
I like to be known as a moving target as many call me.
I love the outdoors to do whatever comes to mind that day.
I love to be involved in anything I can get my hands on, hot yoga, kickboxing, swimming, cycling, running, hiking, backpacking or whatever tickles my fancy that day!
I'll try almost anything once and if I like it, I'll keep doing it.
I don't stop at something till I excel at it. If I don't excel at it, I move on to another venture.
