HI SP FAMILY! IT'S BEEN 12 YRS SINCE I BEGAN MY JOURNEY AND SOMETHING BROUGHT ME BACK HERE TO REMINISCE. I WAS TELLING A "NEW" FRIEND THAT I WAS ONCE OVERWEIGHT AND UNHEALTHY AND SHE COULDN'T BELIEVE ME. WHEN I STUMBLED ACROSS MY OLD PAGE I JUST HAD TO SHARE IT WITH HER AND SOME OF THE PICTURES AND POSTS REALLY BROUGHT ME BACK.

SO THE GOOD NEWS IS I'VE MAINTAINED THE LOSS AND NOT ONLY HAS MY HEALTH IMPROVED, MY ACTIVITIES HAVE AS WELL - I NOW "FIND WHAT FEELS GOOD" AND PRACTICE YOGA DAILY, GO ON WALKS WITH MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND AND WE BOTH HONESTLY FEEL BETTER LOOKING, IN LOVE AND HAPPIER TODAY THAN WE DID WHEN WE GOT MARRIED!! I FEEL TRULY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT. I'M STEADILY WEIGHING IN (YES I DO STILL WEIGH MYSELF) @ 100-105 AND WITH THE HELP OF YOGA MY BODY LOOKS BETTER THAN EVER AND I FEEL STRONG. IT CAN BE DONE PEOPLE - STICK WITH IT, ADJUST ACCORDINGLY AND KNOW YOU'RE NOT ALONE!!

LOTS OF LOVE FROM NJ

-------------------------------------

As a young girl the running joke was that I must have a tapeworm because I could eat ANYTHING and not gain a pound! Well, that string of luck ran out around 18. I had a job at the mall and spent most of my days eating fast food. Since I never had to worry about what I ate, I had no idea what a proper diet should be once I had to adopt one, let alone the discipline to maintain a healthy lifestyle. So I attempted the “easy route” trying every fad diet from Atkins to South Beach and just about every diet pill from Stacker to GNC's, every time winding up heavier than when I started once I’d weaned myself off. For almost 10 years now I’ve yo-yo'd between a svelte 110lbs to my max, 160lbs on a petite 5'2" frame!!

Just before my wedding in October 05 I lost enough weight to be happy about my wedding pics but quickly started gaining it back after the honeymoon. Within the first year I gained at least 20lbs! My husband admitted he was ready to be married to a “chubby” girl and love me for who I am but I couldn’t accept and love MYSELF. Finally, the realization hit me – being overweight is no fun! Yes, food is delicious but nothing tastes as good as the feeling of fitting into a great pair of jeans, putting on a cute fitted top and knowing it looks great, getting the “double look” from the one you love (and strangers ;) and carrying yourself with confidence. My attitude is completely different when I’m heavy – I’m miserable, angry (mostly at myself but quick to take it out on the ones nearest and dearest), insecure about the way my clothes fit (or mostly, don't) and a total home body, not wanting to go anywhere with anyone.

This year (2007) I’m finally ready to make the changes needed to be the confident, outgoing and beautiful person I once was. Although it seems so long ago, I remember her; the young, vibrant girl that was always smiling, couldn’t wait to be in pictures and had a love of life. I’m still that girl, deep inside waiting to be released, and at 28 I’m young enough to do it and enjoy the results. After watching my mother (BEMORESTUBBORN) sacrifice and struggle to successfully lose weight for my wedding, I know anything is possible. She is my inspiration and a constant reminder not to wait until it’s too late because you’ll regret all the years you could have enjoyed being healthy and looking great (and boy does she)!

I'm happier than I’ve ever been in my life and I want my body to reflect that.

Here's to a hot 28 in 08!!

I have total faith that I will know EXACTLY what you mean in a matter of a few months here...

I'm trying to make this process gradual and full of little healthy lifestyle adjustments. I'm loving the perks of this :) Just yesterday I found the most amazing Spinning instructor and I'm hooked. I used to Spin back in CA all of the time. The intense leg drills are JUST what I needed! Nothing like it for shedding inches off of my more curvy parts, except maybe the Pilates reformer.

Kudos for finding what you love, what works for you, and what's sustainable! Hoping I'll get there soon ;)

Hi! I'm adding you as a friend!

I find you SO motivating! I love what you wrote about your hubby losing 15 lbs too. Since changing the foods we have in our house, my almost-hubby has lost the same amount of weight. We're both seeing positive results and couldn't be happier. The best thing is how it makes us feel to eat this way, and the ripple effect it has had on close friends as well. Several of us girlfriends have joined the same gym and you can't beat that ;) Now we're burning calories together instead of ingesting them! :)

Happy maintaining! You and your fam all look so fantastic!
