I joined SparkPeople back in 2010, I think. I started grad school in 2011 and have not been on Spark regularly since! Yikes! The last two years have been crazy busy and stressful, especially this year. Things have really started going downhill for me in the health and fitness department as I've been getting less sleep and putting in long hours at lab. I haven't been weighing in regularly but I can tell I have gained weight! I want to get back into healthy habits and get to my goal weight! I need SparkPeople for all the wonderful advice and motivation everyone has here!

Fitness Minutes: 12,683

My Goals:
*Get 8 - 9 hours of sleep every night.
*Replace my munching habit with a tea-drinking habit.
*Stick to the 1500 nutritious calories I plan to eat every day.
*Stick to my workout plan for the week.

My Program:
*30 minute Daily Burn video every morning at 5:30am
*Bike to lab at least 3 times a week
*Rollerblade once or twice per weekend
*Mountain bike once or twice per weekend
*The occasional but awesome mountain biking trip to western North Carolina!

Personal Information:
I'm a grad student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill working on my Ph.D. in toxicology. Currently, my thesis project is focusing on bacteria in the airways of burn victims and how they influence patient outcomes, and on how inhalation injury alters the response of airway cells to bacteria.

Other Information:
Fun fact: I have been to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro!
I love horses.
I love biology and want to spend my life doing research that will benefit those most in need of health care.
I like genetics and growing bacteria!

    Just read your post about starting April 26th...I should be getting mine around the 24th...would love to have a bud! I would be willing to start the 26th...gives me some time to prepare for the kick start program.

    Hi! Yes, I thought Weeks 1/2 were too easy to be doing much of anything for me, so I did the Cardio 1 DVD every day to supplement my calories burned. Then for Weeks 3/4, I actually started doing Cardio 2 instead (because it's a bit higher intensity than Cardio 1). That's been working for me so far in terms of burning enough calories... though I haven't actually lost any weight. So now I've finished Week 5 and am starting Week 6 today, and I have to say that these workouts are the first ones that I've found at all challenging. I'm sure that they're only going to get harder from here!

    as for water... it's colder so think july lol! jun is still FREEZING! lol

    i mean it's doable... but we are still NORTHern then Southern lol
