I am a 58 year old woman who wants to finally get herself together physically. I have been overweight all my life, now it is time to get on track.
After raising five children and becoming grandmother to eleven, I found myself alone. I did not know how to handle it, so I sat on the couch and it seems I didn't move for years.
Today, after reading about Spark People, I made a decision to get moving. Like the saying goes, "today is the first day of the rest of my life." I am so excited.

Fitness Minutes: 680

My Goals:
Physically I would like to lose 40+ pounds in a healthy manner, I also want to stop smoking. I can no longer make excuses for the way I eat and the cigarettes I smoke. I want to become a healthy individual.

My Program:
I plan on a walking program. This week to start off I will walk a mile each day, week two will see two miles, and likewise week three will find me walking three miles each day. When I am comfortable with that, I will incorporate some strength exercises.

Personal Information:
I am a single woman who just now can appreciate her independence. While I am sorry things did not work in my marriage of many years, we both made mistakes and it is time to move forward. I have no desire to date again but do enjoy the company of friends. For the first time in my life, I can do what I wish when I wish. How cool is that?
