Hi!

My name is Mocha and I've been a member of Spark since spring 2008. This is an update of my original intro. (If you want to see that, check out my blogs.)

I'm continuing along on the journey of creating a healthier lifestyle and a healthier me! To that end, I'm a member of the Light Blue Bombshells in the BLC challenges. This wonderful group has helped me to shed nearly all the excess weight I wanted to. I'm within 10 pounds of my goal weight, and more importantly, have become an active person who consciously chooses what she eats!

This fall I am in training for 2 half-marathons, and have already completed one. I am using Jeff Galloway's run/walk method, taking it slowly because I have a very arthritic knee. I run/walk 3 times per week, do cross-training (mostly elliptical trainer and stationary bike) and strength training at the Y 3-4 times a week. My current run/walk ratio is 1/1, and I'm hoping to up it soon.

I did the Lewis & Clark half-marathon on 9/13/09 in 2:53. I hadn't really intended to run any of it, but got caught up in the moment. My next half, the St. Louis Track Club half, is on 11/1/09. I see that one as really a training run for the St. Jude half-marathon in Memphis, TN, on 12/5/09, where my 23 year-old daughter will be running the whole marathon.

Personal Information:
I live in the city of St. Louis, in Missouri, across from one of the most beautiful Victorian Parks in the country in a 3 story house my husband and I have rehabbed. I love both the perks that urban life has to offer--the symphony, the theatre, the Cardinals, walking to the post office, hair salon, restaurants, etc.-- and the great outdoors, especially hiking and camping in the mountains. I love to garden and spend time outdoors with my family.
