I've always been convinced of my own worth, but lately it has seemed as if the world has opened up to confirm it. Everyone, no matter what their weight or situation in life should realized their own worth and make the world recognize it also.

Now that we've been over my life's philosophy; here's my weight loss philosophy. I am trying to lose a significant amount of weight, but in a healthy way. I am trying to establish a healthy lifestyle that combines exercise and eating right, but doesn't make me feel gulty for eating some ice cream. My motto is everything in moderation.

I had already lost 40 pounds. But I fell off and gained about 10. Now I am back on my grind. I am hoping to lose 30-35 pounds by November. I am entering Phase II of my master plan. (Rubs hands together and laughs evilly.) It's all about toning and weight training. Well, not all, but I've got cardio down. Time to get strength training under my belt too.

My Goals:
My short-term goal is to be down to 160 by the time my sister visits in Nov. My longer term goal is 153 by the New Year. My ultimate goal is a bikini by my birthday in May.

My Program:
I am focusing on strength training. I do cardio almost every day of the week, but strength training is hard for me. I am cutting down on sodas and watching my calories.

Personal Information:
I am in Tampa, helping my grandmother and aunt. I am trying to make a change in my life starting with my weight/health.

Other Information:
I love reading and writing. I am a fan of Jane Austen, Walter Mosley, and Agatha Christie. I like mysteries, classic lit, fantasy books...I guess you'd call me eclectic. I love spoken word and am a poet (as you can see by my name).

    emoticon to the Virtual Walk/Run Team. This is the place for walkers and runners. It has lots of options to help you stay on track. A couple of suggestions are to visit the team daily and to read at least one of the blogs. Eventually you will find some people who are talking about things that interest you. Then you can subscribe to their blogs. A great way to get your points for messages is to post on the team message boards. I hope to see you there.

    Terrie has an email that she will send you. It explains all of the options available. Be sure to look into the Walk Across America at exercise.lbl.gov. It allows you to track your cumulative miles and to view the scenery as you walk across the USA. Also be sure to tell us where you are on your trek on the Where Are You Today message board.
