It's surreal to say but I've lost 57 pounds this year and 73 pounds since my senior year of high school. Now, my goals are to tone up and stay fit. I want to reach a new level with weight training, strength and endurance and in the meantime trim off another 10 pounds that need to go! Additionally, part of my new New Year will be to eat cleaner and feel better about what I'm putting into my body (not just the calories!). I can hear it crying for more fruits and veggies right now! So let's get started already!

Ok... so I told my story on here as an original update but I decided to move that for the time being and I will probably post that as a blog... it was far too long. Basically I'm a 20 year old college student from Colorado and I was overweight from age 8 onward. In January of 2008 I got a brand new journal after watching way too much of Bridget Jones and I wrote down my New Year's resolutions. One of which was to lose weight and be in a size 12 by the end of the year. So I started working out and watching what I ate and I started losing weight.

I have never really tried to lose weight in the past, but I'm making a commitment to myself to lose this weight because it's something that I truly want. It finally started to bother me and my confidence and self-esteem couldn't make up for it. Finally I'm starting to see my outsides match my insides. I have always been confident, outgoing and full of high self-esteem (enough to go around even with my best friends!) this journey has made me stronger physically and mentally and I have even more confidence and I'm starting to get that self-love. I joined Sparkpeople in June of '08 because my dad recommended it for counting calories and I haven't looked back since.

August 6, 2008: I've lost 58 lbs since my heaviest weight in high school. 42 lbs since my starting weight in January '08 and 18 lbs since being on Spark!

Goals: (Just to clear the air - I am 5'1" and still very overweight for my height so these goals are medically sound - :))

Overall weight related goals:
*Achieve healthy BMI -CHECK!
*Be in the 120's - SO CLOSE!

Overall fitness goals:
*Be able to do anything I want to do in the outdoors and otherwise.
*Run a 5k in 35 minutes or less
*Train for a half-marathon
*Run a 10 minute mile - CHECK!
*Climb a 14,000ft mountain (I'm in CO for Pete's sake!)
*Be toned
*The "gap". 'Nuff said. - CHECK!

Other overall goals:
*Be able to shop wherever I want - CHECK!
*Feel like I look smokin'! - CHECK!
*Pick up an outdoor hobby
*Do something creative every month
*Stop biting my nails - CHECK!
*Learn how to do eye make-up
*Start wearing more heels and dresses - CHECK!

~*~ July Goals ~*~ ***Graded***
*Get in the 140's by the end of the month! I WILL DO IT! I'm so freakin' close. - A+
*DO my strength training religiously... I've been so bad. - A
*Increase my cardio so I'm burning more calories in a week while still doing C25K program. - D
*Use the elliptical my dad just bought. -I technically USED C- :)

~*~ August Goals ~*~
Major Aug. goal: Remove another 10 lbs and be down to the 130's by September - F (I guess - this is kind of an all or nothing thing) I'm very close, still 141 lbs. I really wanted to be at 138 but it's coming off more slowly - 7 lbs down though for the month is not bad!! Yay me! I'm so close to the 130s.
*Increase cardio - C - sort of unchanged... I have been trying to do as much as possible but I don't know about increasing.
*Increase fruit/vegetable intake - C- as much as possible...
*Find a suitable fiber supplement because there is no way I can get the 25g a day! Ugh! - F... why didn't I buy one?! I'm so lame sometimes....
*Be in a comfortable size 8 - by Sept. - A+ bought three pairs of size 8 jeans and they fit VERY comfortably... I also bought a pair of 6s to shrink into and they can be buttoned and such but are still a little tight! GO ME!
*Go for 5 outside runs - by Sept. - F+... I went on one. LOL.
Reward for Aug. goals: new running shoes!

I bought the running shoes... I don't know if they were a reward... more like a necessity. But anyway, ready for Sept. goals?! I am!

~*~ September Goals ~*~

-Be down to 135 by the end of the month - it's 6 pounds and it's well into the 130s. I'm not going to make another 10 pound goal because I think that's too much weight too fast this close to my goal.
-Maintain momentum, control and determination while going to and in England.
-Jog/run 3x/week - try to do as many of these outside as possible.
-Get into, and buy some more - SIXES!!!! OMG!

Fitness Minutes: 2,787

My Goals:
I hope that by September I can drop another 25 pounds or so... I'm leaving for England in September and I'd love to be on track still! (And looking hot for my Euro trip!)

My Program:
Cardio: 3x - 4x a week - I am currently in Week 7 of the Couch to 5k program - which I recommend to anyone who wants to train themselves to run.

Strength Training: 2x a week on Tues./Thurs. I do the full-body circuit on the gym machines, plus some floor work and push-ups.

I count calories: I stay between 1200 - 1400... sometimes I'm below 1200 but I'm working on that.

Personal Information:
My name is Sara. I'm a 20 year old college student in Colorado. I was born in Arizona. I have two siblings, three step-siblings, and I love cats. That's about it.

Other Information:
I am also an English Literature major - I don't know what I want to do with it.

I love literature, but I don't read for leisure... 'cause I suck like that.

I'm joining the Peace Corps when I graduate.

I love to travel and want to see the world...quite literally.

My dream job is a travel writer...we'll see about that.
