This is my second run with Spark people. I used it years ago for years, and just decided to come back to it.

I am a type 2 diabetic that I try my best to control with diet/exercise... but started a new med a few months ago. I have struggled with my eating for the last 8-10 months, so I am really working to stick to a plan. Right now I am good for a few days, and then fall off the plan... and the cycle repeats. But I know I can do better.

Emotionally I am facing some challenges, because I have an upcoming spinal surgery which has me a nervous wreck.... and trying to plan and prepare for this and the recovery right now.... the date is June 8th.

I need to lose 30 lbs of fat to be at my ideal weight, but the fact that I have been working less and maybe losing some muscle during my recovery might change.... so I am trying to really stay focused on my fitness.

I became a certified Personal Trainer in December, and had Covid in Jan 2021... which aggravated back issues I have been dealing with since 2007... so my goals for the reason I got the certificate are all on hold while I face this surgery and recovery... then I will work on those goals.

I welcome friends who will help encourage, inspire, and challenge me while on my journey... as I too would love to be there for others :)

My Goals:
* To control/reverse diabetes type II, lose weight.

Short term goal is to lose 5 lbs in 4 weeks my working out daily, riding my spin bike, and eating healthy options. I will drink 100 oz of water each day as well


My Program:
Be active.... even when I don't feel like it, something is better than nothing.
Ride my spin bike at least 3x per week
Do my strength training exercises for my back 2x daily as prescribed
Do additional strength training at least 3x per week
Watch my carb/sugar intake for my diabetes. Talk with my doctor about medicine assistance
Avoid processed foods, and eat real/healthy foods



Personal Information:
I live in Decatur Alabama. I work as a scheduler for Locum Physicians and I work remotely from my home. I just recently passed my test to be an ACE Certified Personal Trainer as well.



Other Information:
I have completed numerous 5k, 10k, half-marathons... Duathlons, sprint triathlons, and even one Olympic distance one. I tried my hand at CrossFit... I do have spondylolisthesis which makes things a challenge for me sometimes but I work through it. Right now I workout a lot with Street Parking, which is Crossfit exercises you can do ANYWHERE.. and I really love it and the community there. I also write my own plans :) Now that I know what I am doing haha.

    I like your smoothie recipe.. I have a ninja and I love it.. makes great smoothies.. got to get some whey powder (non flavor) I am waiting for my chocolate one to finish up before I buy more.. ...

    since we are sharing recipes I got a great one I got out of WW mag..

    take 1/2 cup of oatmeal and one cup of water let the oatmeal soak for 5 mins. use quick cook oatmeal

    in blender put one 1/2cup of Greek Plain yogurt
    one small banana
    6 or 8 frozen strawberries or blueberries 1/2 cup
    1/4 tsp vanilla extract
    1 tsp honey, (I used almond butter)
    1/4 tsp cinnamon

    Add the oatmeal mixture chi seeds if you like
    and blend a way.. it is really good 263 calories for 1 cup..
