In January of 2008, as I was trying to make a plan for actually achieving my perennial New Year's Resolution of losing weight, I realized that I could lose 100 pounds without becoming underweight! That realization shocked me as I'd never seen myself as THAT overweight!

I had found SparkPeople two years before, but hadn't committed to the program. This time, I did commit. I started slowly....started tracking my calories....started walking (only 3 minutes at a time to start!)....found a team....a team found me....I took it one day at a time.

My goal is to lose at least 84 pounds. When I get close to that goal, I'll reassess and decide whether or not to go further.

Update: February 2010
2009 was a rough year for me, in all aspects. Along the way, I fell off SparkPeople and off my weight-loss journey. This year has started out with more heartbreak, but today I'm trying to pull myself back together.

Update: May 2012
I was managing my weight okay, and staying physically active until August 2010 when my husband and I took custody of our grandson. That fully derailed my efforts and brought back the comfort eating. It didn't take very long before I'd put back on 50 pounds. Amazing how fast the weight can go on! My life is far different from what it was when I was so active on SparkPeople throughout 2008.

Update: January 2013
My goal now is to lose 77 pounds, which will put me at 140 lbs. My youngest daughter is embarking on the journey with me this time. She and I both have pivotal changes ahead this Fall: she will finish school and be looking for full-time work in her career field, and I will be transferring to Sacramento State University in pursuit of my bachelor's degree (finally). My daughter and I both need the personal confidence boost that comes from being in shape and feeling good about yourself. Plus, I definitely need more energy to keep up with Blake, who is now six.

Update: January 2014
I've updated my stats and am trying hard to get back on track. I'm quite likely in the worst physical shape I've ever been in, and am certainly at my heaviest weight. Not the way I want to be! Here I am - trying to better my family's life through education - and I've let my health decline. It's so easy to concentrate on my studies and let diet and exercise slide....
I faced the music last week and finally weighed in. Since then, I've been more aware of the choices I make and am trying to do better for myself. SparkPeople was an incredible tool for me in 2008 and, today, I'm committing myself to reusing it and getting back in shape!

Personal Information:
I made it to a 59 lb loss back in 2008-2009, then some major life changes shook my world and all my routines fell apart. Sadly, it didn't take very long to regain most of the weight.
