Hi my name is Cindi and I am from Arizona - I am a hospice nurse and I am a 48 yo mother of 3. When my daughter's therapist told me I should loose weight to help my daughter's self esteem, she hit me with: You need gastric bypass because let's face it honey, at your age you can't loose it with diet and exercise. I hate that word "can't" I set out to prove her wrong and I am still loosing.

Fitness accomplishments so far:
1. walk/run events: 20 5K's so far, a 4 mile, an 8K AND a half marathon!
2. KungFu: orange belt. Tang Soo Do: green belt.

Update 9/07: After being at this for so long - my daughter (and my sons) are very proud of my accomplishments so far. My daughter is amazed at the strength and determination she sees in me, but not only am I healthier physically, I am also healthier emotionally and she sees that as well. And my sons? Well, my 19 year old thinks it is wonderful that he has a mom that has got his back in a fight (boys these days).

That was something I definitely needed to get over, for sure. I think changing schools definitely made a lot of difference. One thing that challenged me was seeing other white belts move up. Gave me the incentive not to be left behind.
I think I'll still be nervous but I think I'll be able to handle it alot better now that the first test is over! emoticon

I actually tested and passed tonight. So I have a yellow stripe on my white belt at this point. They will be ordering me a yellow belt and having my certificate made.
