Another winter day! Today it is a lovely mix of rain and freezing rain with a few ice pellets to top it off. But spring is coming! I can feel it! There seem to be a few more birds than last week. We had a bit more sunshine lately, as well.
I have had a good weekend. It started off by standing on the scales and not expecting good news, however, it said 194. That meant I was down 9 pounds since joining SPARK. WooHoo!! I tried to imagine what could be helping so much because I didn't feel I had been eating in a significantly different way. I think it must be that I am not eating very much bread these days. I am logging the foods diligently. I am consciously not overeating at meals. If there is too much put on the plate - I save half for later. At work I only have healthy lunches and snacks. This is a challenge because I have to carry everything in on an hour long commuter bus ride. So I plan in advance each week and shop for easy to carry items. I found Pacific organic soups at the health food store. They are very good and about 90 - 120 calories each. I eat it with Rye Crisp hard bread. Some times a piece of light cheese with it. I am also bringing fruit. I know it is important to have some protein too, so I won't get hungry during the afternoon. For breakfast every work day I make old fashioned large flake oatmeal in the microwave. It only takes about 4-5 minutes and is very healthy. I put in some raisins, too. I notice I have had more energy lately. It must be losing the weight that is helping. What a great incentive that is! Gaining more energy will also help me to get moving more. I even spent about 10 minutes on the exercise bike last night!!
We saw a great movie last night, SnowCake, with Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman - filmed in Canada. It was a very interesting portrayal of an autistic woman. SIgourney Weaver was fantastic in the part. It helped to understand autism. Also it was a very well done story about people who are different, guilt, anger, and forgiveness. Just be prepared with a kleenex box at the start. It does gets better after that. I would highly recommend this movie to people who like something that leaves them thinking after the movie ends.
Bye for now everyone. It is a busy week so I probably won't write again until next weekend. Good luck and hope all of you make progress toward your goals this week.
