The Medical Diagnoses - More medical issues

Friday, June 13, 2008

In addition to the Diabetes, I am dealing with:

High Blood Pressure (high for person with diabetes, they want me on meds, but have to weigh pros and cons as far as side effects and effects on liver/kidney)

High Cholesterol (was on Crestor for awhile, it brought down the bad, but also the good), dr. took me off it and was going to try and find something that would raise the good at the same time as lowering the bad
EDIT: Now taking pravastatin, but dr. gave me too high a dose without following up and now my BAD CHOLESTEROL is dangerously low. Go figure. He halved the dosage and we will see how that goes.

NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis) otherwise known as "fatty liver", which has progressed to cirrhosis. Have had liver ultrasound and biopsy, scheduled for another ultrasound middle of July. EDIT: Showed liver enlarged.

Chronic kidney disease Stage III (had ultrasound of kidney)

Sleep apnea (supposed to be using CPAP machine, but having issues with that, going for 3rd sleep study for titration soon I hope, also hoping I actually sleep this time) EDIT: I did sleep, but still having issues using CPAP

Had tubular adenoma and tubulovillous adenoma (pre-cancerous polyps) removed from colon and polyps removed from stomach (Colonoscopy and Upper endoscopy to be repeated in 3 years)

Tinnitis (Ringing in the ears): Very annoying.

Allergies: I can tell you exactly when some plants bloom! I use Nasonex daily for that.

Am recovering from pinched nerve in neck. While checking that they found arthritis had formed in my neck. I suffer from chronic pain due to other back issues.

Because of kidney/liver issues I take as little medicine as possible because of liver/kidney filtering issues.
I take a multi-vitamin daily, calcium chews when I think of it, echinacea to ward off infections. Tylenol for pain (cannot take aspirin, aleve, motrin, etc. because it makes tinnitus (ringing in ears) worse.

EDIT: Latest addition into the mix is having gall bladder attacks. Will be seeing liver dr. Mon. 7/13 to see if it is to come out or stay in.

Deb....you would be amazed at how many similar health problems we share. Not that that is a good thing, but it is good to know I am not alone. You are sooo smart about limiting the
things you take to not over-tax your body filters. I have to take
some of my meds or I could die. That is a great idea to share your health conditions on a blog. I will have to do that too. Thanks for the comment on my page. HUGS! Sher
