No more slave to the scale!

Today I made up my mind not to a slave to the scale. I'm used to weighing daily at the Y where I work out but It can be as frustrating as it is motivating. I'm tired of letting the scale dictate my mood. I'm just going to keep exercising and trying to eat healthy. Once a week, I'll step on the scale, but I can't give it so much power over me on a daily basis.

    You're onto something. Once a week is plenty. I weigh myself, at home, every morning,...same time, getting out of bed, but I am more influenced by how my clothes are fitting, for sure.
    And the measuring tape, which right now, is frustrating me like crazy, because I want to lose more inches around my middle.

    I so hear you. I weigh in once a week. Saturday mornings. I don't have a scale at home because I don't want to weigh in more often than that. Last week, when I weighed in, I had my previous week's weight wrong in my mind. So, when I weighed in, I thought I lost three pounds. I was satisfied with three pounds and was fairly upbeat until I got home and logged my weight, realized I actually only lost a pound. I was bummed. It is very hard to work really hard at something.. know that you did all the things you thought were right and not see the results you expected. So, I asked for help on here... and a bunch of wonderful people.. you included responded. I'm back on track, think I have a better understanding of where I went wrong. I'm not letting that damn scale control my emotions. not gonna happen.

    My granddaughter helped me with my scale. She was washing her baby doll and wet my scale and for 3 days i stepped on a scale that did not work 3x per day. I stopped today. No weigh in for me and I decided to go to my Dr's office once a week to get an official weigh in. I am a scale junkie. I was weighing in 3x per day. I still miss my scale but I am not going to replace it. emoticon

    Good for you. I had a falling out with my scale, also. No more letting the scale play tricks with my head. :-) A new healthy lifestyle is where the focus should be!

    It is like watching your favorite TV Show, Same time and same station. I use to weigh myself on Tuesday, but some of the groups ask for a Friday weigh in so I changed my day. Best rule is in the morning and on the same day. Once you get on a routine you will look forward to it. Keep up the good work.

    I am trying to let go of the scale as well. I used it so much the first few months and I still get on every day and it dictates my mood for the day. You are helping me make a decision to get off the scale and ENJOY all that I have done... As long as I work out and eat right the scale does not have to control me!!

    Good for you! Sounds like you're focused on a healthy lifestyle more than a number on the scale - which is a very good mental place to be. Once a week is plenty to make sure you're trending in the right direction!
