Mind, Body and Spirit

Thursday, January 28, 2010

I started this year griping at my receptionist about how 2010 is going to be kind of lame. No weddings to attend, no vacations planned, no babies to be born, and no large items to acquire. This year there was nothing to look forward to.

Then I had an epiphany this morning. I really love epiphanies and unfortunately they don’t come often enough.

This year will be a year of rejuvenation. It will be a year of getting back to the basics. I want to take pride in my mind, body and spirit. I will feed my brain with knowledge: reading more and listening more intently to what people are saying. I will treat my body like a temple, nourishing it with healthy food, sleep, and daily doses of exercise. Engage my spirit with positive people, and strive to be more loving, present and nurturing towards family and friends. Honoring what I have rather than yearning for what I have not.

And so now, when people ask what this year will be like for me, what do I have to look forward to in 2010. The answer will simply be….me!

I love epiphanies too! That is a great way to look at 2010. It will make the year and each day so much more enjoyable.

That's a great idea for 2010. I was sort of thinking something along the same lines for myself - sort of a celebration of life (slow down, enjoy little things more, laugh more, spend more time with my kids, appreciate each day, etc).

Sometimes we get so focussed on what we don't have or can't do and forget to enjoy what is right in front of us.

I think it will be a great year!

I love the way you write. I have been feeling the same way, with nothing really to look forward to this year (except turning 40 at the end of it... emoticon

That's why I'm dedicating this year to myself as well. I'll be fit and forty!
