Goals for the next while...

Monday, February 01, 2010

So lately I've been feeling pretty darn tootin' tired! And the cold just makes me want to hybernate. But last night I actually got up the gumption (and so did hubby) to take the dogs for a walk... it had been a couple days without for them. And along the way I realized that I was actually feeling good in my muscles for a change. And once I'd gotten home I realized that I was feeling bouncy! So I took hold of the opportunity, went down to my bunny/exercise room and did Day 1 of Jillian's 30 Day Shred again. Got thru the whole thing, tho I did modify a bit.

So the plan is to do the 30DS everynight until our vaca. Then I'll have a couple days off as we'll be in Disney... but at least I'll still be active. Hubby says there will be walking... oh yes, there will be lots of walking :P After that we're visiting with his step-mom and I'm sure she'll have a DVD player, so I plan to do it there while we're visiting.

On another note I was pretty proud of myself, because after the dog walk and the 30DS workout I still got on the treadmill and pushed out a 10 min jog. I did the whole 10 mins straight! Never done that b4! But I turned down the mileage to 6 mph and that did the trick. I feel like I might have been able to do longer had my legs not just been kicked by Jillian. So I'm happy to have discovered the magic number that will allow me to get some actual time in while jogging.

Oh, and I should plan on using the elliptical too... probably once we're back from vaca, as I'll have my new HRM to toy with hehe!!

Hey Carol... hope you're enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery!!! Enjoy some for me 2 k?

I bought a Polar F11. It's a watch that you wear on your wrist, and it communicates with the chest strap (and device on the strap) that you wear just under the boobs. It's the strap that does the reading. As far as the mechanics behind it, I couldn't tell you how it does it. I put a post up on the boards about how I was getting different cal burn amounts using spark vs. online sources... and it was frustrating. Everyone says a HRM will tell me the accurate number. And Polar was recommended time and time again, so I went with them. Garmin is another good name. I think the Garmin has other functions tho, that I didn't figure I wanted. Plus it's hideous looking compared to the cute polars lol!! Apparently you can pick them up at Dicks Sporting Store. I paid $130 usd thru Amazon. But if you went to the polar website you'll see all the functions each version has, and maybe it'd explain *how* it works... where I can't (and don't really care, so long as it can hehe).

    Anyways, take care Girlie!!!

hey Sticklet, glad to hear you are feeling so great! I wanted to ask you about a comment you made about the HRM telling you how many calories you burn more accurately, how does it do that? I've not researched them a whole lot, but I could only find one that tells you your target and max and min heart rate along with your actual heart rate. Can you tell me which one you purchased? How does it work? Thanks
