DH retirement

Friday, April 16, 2010

DH put his last day in at work today and is now officially retired. So people have been asking me Fran what are you going to due with him home all day? My answer is always the same, no problem for the summer as he loves to golf, then he'll come home and take a nap(no problem)--- it's cheaper to golf during the weekdays., and I may just decide to give it try myself(someday).I see many benefits to his retirement---for starters we can go to the gym anytime of the day we want, that will come in handy during the winter( thinking ahead). I will still continue doing things I like that he's not interested in, but we will have time to go do things we both enjoy together. He has one problem tho---Princess (the dog) doesn't let him sleep late , she loves getting him up ---she doesn't bother me, he'll need to try to get her to sleep a bit longer. Will let you know how things go .

Well, congrats on the retirement. It will be nice I think for you. To be able to take off when you want to. That cracks me up about Princess. My BTin L retired and has been trying to train his cat to let him sleep in in the morning. He seems to get a few min. extra every week or so. It will take time.

I relate to the dog getting us up early. My DH and I were just talking about that today, that when we go camping, the dogs want to get up early and go potty. That's different then being home and just opening the sliders to let them in their run.
    Have a great evening Fran

Enjoy your time together. Mine has been home 9 yrs now and most of the time it is great, just like it was when he was working. It is nice to do things during the week and not just waiting on vacation or weekends.

emoticon on your dh's retirement! Enjoy your time together but it's great that you both have outside interests that you won't be spending every single moment together! My mom is so thankful when it's golf season and fishing season, my Dad gets so antsy when he has to be cooped up in the house for very long. What kind of dog is Princess? My parents have a Maltese named Sugar that is like another child to them. Everyone cracks up that my Dad has a foo foo dog!

Hope you guys enjoy your new phase in life together!

Fran, Enjoy your times together. My dh will be retiring in the next 5 years. I'm younger than him, so I'll be going back to work by then. So he'll be the one getting to drive the kids everywhere and do all the errands LOL.
