Looking at the positives

Last week was a rough week.
My gas dryer broke down. The first repairman found a bird (dead) in the vent. The second repair man explainded the vent wasn't up to code and could lead to a fire (or asphexiation)...so they replaced the vent. But that didn't fix the dryer. So the first repairman had to come back and fix the dryer.
Then my car broke down on the way to school...my mechanic looked at it and told me that it was warranty/recall issues. The dealer says it could be...but they can't look at it until at least Wednesday...
As I said it was a rough week. But there's another side. A more positive view.
Yes, my dryer broke down. I was without a working dryer for a week. Yes, it broke mid load (of course). But at least my basement is big enough to hang cloths when I need to!
Yes, a bird died in the vent of the dryer...and I mourn her passing. But the fact that she died ultimately pointed out a flaw in the house that could have easily killed us in our sleep. It cost money that we could have used elsewhere, but our lives are priceless.
My car breaking down means that my husband is now driving me to and from school every day, so I have more private time with him. His support of my goals are a BIG part of what will allow me to succeed in Law School.
Yes, it means that until I get my car back meals are going to be catch as catch can, but the extra study time at school won't hurt...and the quiet time with my husband definately doesn't hurt either.
So yes, while I could sit down and look at the negative side of things...I'd rather look at the positive. Look at what I'm gaining from the difficulties from this past week!
